- On March 18, RUclips released an official statement regarding the use of AI on the official RUclips blog. In this video, I cover that very statement and share some thoughts on the use of AI, what we need to do if we're using AI and why I think AI is a really powerful play moving forward in 2024 to be fair I don't think a lot of the tools that are available now are quite prime time. But it's literally only a matter of months before we get there. Have you seen Sora AI for video? Wow, is it ever incredible. Anyway, what are your thoughts? Would love to know.

Thank you, I was wondering this exact thing the other day. I use AI sometimes for voices in the game I play, which is animated, so I'm guessing I'm safe. I think they just don't want people to make realistic things without divulging it.
This is exactly correct. RUclips wants to make sure people don’t get deceived or tricked.
Thank you for the update. I noticed that I had to click on AI disclosure on all 3 of my accounts.
I think they should require you to disclose if you use AI to alter the video or audio in any way. Then, there is no gray area or confusion.

@BackToTheBoomBap "In any way" can be problematic, though: If I use Adobe AI voice enhancement to clean up my audio, but I don't change any of the words, is that in the same category as generating a video in which Taylor Swift endorses my channel? Pretty soon 99% of videos would require a disclosure!

I am digging it! AI can be misleading, and RUclips does not want many law suits because of possible misuse of this powerful tool.

Yeah, agreed my friend. The fact of the matter is, I think AI needs to be on RUclips. I think creators should be encouraged to lean into the tools that are coming available. But there’s a line in the sand one can cross… Where we lose the human ability to create a story. And that’s what matters when everything comes from a robot, I’m not that

AI rules were scaring a lot of people and hopefully now have more clarity regarding when to declare it. My question is, what of people do the same but not using AI but old school XF special effects. Do they also have to declare it?
Nope, special effect does not need to be designated. Unless it’s added to something that’s realistic. Like as mentioned in the video a city that catches fire. That would have to be labeled.

PS - I noticed your talking head shot has some movement to it almost like you had a cameraman holding the camera with some natural destabilizing movements. Is that an add-on to an editing software? Very cool. 😎🤙🏼
It’s a very common effect found in most video editing programs. In Final Cut Pro it’s called “handheld” and you can adjust the parameters to identify how much camera movement you want. And yeah, I like it too quite a bit. It just has a little bit more of a dynamic looking feel. I’ve had a lot of viewers mentioned it.

This was good to know! I dont use AI, but I've been thinking about using a voice changer to use my husband's voice when his character comes on screen (he's not always available to VO). Good to know I'd have to check the box if that's the case.

100% my friend. There’s no way possible that we don’t have a place on RUclips moving forward. AI is nothing more than a tool. I’ll use it to enhance my videos but nothing more. Keyword “enhancement“.
I’ve seen a lot use AI to help with videos. In a lot of cases it is a game changer in a good way.

I have a channel where i make video as a AI youtuber like cartoon mask talking, but i use my own voice, will the talking mask illustration be classed as AI? I mean i teach people about editing but just show a talking head mask illustration that lasts around 10 seconds here and there.
it really depends on the actual content itself and whether or not someone might believe it’s real if that’s the case then mark yes it’s AI. You still might even want to that you’re using AI. I don’t think it’s gonna hurt you either way.

It really depends on the type of Contant that you publish. If you’re mentioning a city, as an actual city that’s on fire then you have to designate that the content has been altered. Furthermore, if you’re worried about it and you use AI, just always check the box it won’t impact your views. I really don’t think viewers are gonna care. But if you’re using your own voice and What you create is in animation then as mentioned, you don’t have to designate that. Voice dictated.

Good thing I won't be using this stuff,one less thing to worry about. I've played around with Gemini creating cartoon characters of my Rottweiler and using it to create titles for my videos. Looks like the robots are finally taking over the world lol 😅
It’s gonna be an interesting time for sure, my friend. And what I know beyond the shadow of the doubt is there will be plenty of highly successful creators that won’t use AI too much.

What about using an AI voice bot to add a voice to my dog in a video? I'm talking like 5% of the video, or less. The rest of the video is completely real.
It’s a tricky question. No one really knows. Perhaps I would just click the box if you’re worried. I don’t think it’s gonna hurt you either way.
It sounds like they are trying to prevent people from creating misinformation videos that might manipulate people's views on somebody or event. This is good.
I have an Ai art channel for my cosmic horror short stories with Midjourney art. I stopped uploading thinking I would be affected but my stuff is usually Lovecraftian cosmic horror with monsters or mythical creatures, so now I feel relieved.
I think your also in the clear for your voicebot usage since you aren't creating the narrative that you are talking to Elon Musk about something that never happened.
yeah, RUclips doesn’t want us to stop being creators. RUclips doesn’t want us to stop creating interesting and diverse storylines. And they’re not opposed to AI at all. Like you said you nailed it they just don’t want misinformation. They don’t want to turn into a place where it’s hard to understand what’s true and what’s not.
well… well… well… what is true and what isn’t. Very philosophical. We could ask this question before AI ;-)

Probably a good idea, my friend. It really depends on the context of the content itself. I think thumbnails are pretty safe but again I cover the details in the comment, my friend.
You are not creating the content if AI is. You are not an artist if AI created it. You are not a photographer if AI made it. It won't be long before you can just use a voice command and request AI to create an entire FAKE piece of content and take you completely out of the mix. At that point.............why watch your content. Hollow, fake, void of reality. Nah. I'll pass.
Tech has it's uses for sure. I love sci, and advancement, state of the art, etc.. But with in reason. This is just laziness. Like we need more of that these days.
just wanna make sure I understand you. So if I spend time coming up with a big idea for a video. I processed that information and then write out a script, or create bullet points. And then film that script with my $3500 Sony full frame camera and a $1000 lens. It’s neon screen, it’s me in the video, it’s my words, based on my big idea in the script I wrote. And then I edit the video with B role, images of me, video of me and more and I also include AI generated video.
How do you classify that? Because that’s what I’ll teach as I move forward. And a lot of RUclips creators will create videos in this way and I see no issue with that you may. that’s totally fine. I hope we can agree to disagree in a respectful manner. Anyway, would love to get your thoughts. Voice dictated.
That's all great points. And of course go forth and create. I replied to what was being said in the video. Not what your reply is. AI as a tool is a logical next step but only as a tool. But, with no disrespect. The things you laid out in the vid leaned towards the AI doing everything for you. That's what I was pointing out. And I agree, a lot of content creators will use AI and do, and surely all will at some point. I'm talking about the craft being given up to AI, reducing the effort by even more. No, I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. I believe that when humans use AI to enhance what they’re doing it doesn’t really impact the video in a negative Way. For the masses. I do believe there will be some people that are so opposed to the AI that it will impact their judgment. And that’s OK too. Because one thing I’ve learned for sure is you can’t please everybody all the time. It’s impossible. I also think it’s most important to Please yourself first.
