Thanks for sharing pics of all your beautiful finds! No apologies needed for what you don't know about rocks, we're all learning as we go. I like agates and "pretty rocks," and I'm slowly finding out what the pretty rocks are. You do such a nice show and tell at end of video with the rocks cleaned up, just a quick peek when you find them works for me!
Thank you for being understanding...it's definitely a learning process. When I was a guide in Alaska I had to learn all the flora and fauna...it's a rainforest...lots of plants to learn. But it was so rewarding bringing groups out into nature...many of which had never stepped foot into a wilderness.
You know...as many times as I say I will film slower and show the rocks longer...I still film too fast and don't show the rocks long enough! I will make you a promise...next time I get to the beach I will put into practice what I preach!😄👍
The truck is a bummer. A whole slew of parts got destroyed. But God is the best mechanic...He will have a way! And if it happened on a highway it could have been really bad...crashing into a bank of sand with no other cars around was a huge blessing!
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful yeah, usually there's little doubt when you find a good one. But that day I thought the eye agate was chert and the dark red one, I thought was Jasper when I picked them up.

I agree with showing us the pretty ones for a bit longer. I would've thought that banded chert was an agate for sure.

And sorry to hear about your truck. Will pray it can get fixed much sooner.

Hey Colleen, where are you from? I'm guessing some where below the bridge?
@@upperpeninsulabeautiful Yes, we are below the bridge and some. Indiana.
Well, when you have a trip planned up this way, let me know...I'll take you out! How fun!
I will! We're planning end of March/April.
Extraordinary. BTW, agates are not chalky. They are extremely hard and have glassy conchoidal fractures. Maybe what you have is banded calcite.
Hey, thank you for that educated guess! And your right agates are super hard...I've read both 7 and 8 on Mohs hardness scale
Thank you also for the comment, youre the first to comment on that (agate)!
That's definitely an agate.
I was pleasantly surprised thinking it was a piece of jasper.! It reminds me of the one you found!

Agates can certainly fool us as much or more than chert and other agate imposters. That eye agate is super radical! Thanks for watching!
