Evening Stephen, we used to stay in a great b&b in Paletine Road. The couple who owned it would do anything for you & they even had "themes" going through the b&b. One of the family rooms en suite had lego lino down and the kids absolutely loved it. It was directly across from the church, so sad to see it closed down now. We never had any problems staying in the Meland. Thank you for another great vlog xxxx
I used to deliver in blackpool so I know the roads but now know more about the history thanks to your vlogs.I remember the college, great art deco building

Hi Stephen thanks for going out in the wet weather, I love your little history lessons talking about Blackpool I've learnt so much,we have to apply every year for a parking permit where I live to park down the street I live on and that college building was fabulous ❤
Used to live at 214 Hornby Road just found the corner and filled up my Vespa at the Bell View Garage next to the pub. Later went to Blackpool College of Art in Palatine Road.
Thanks Stephan for another very interesting video. The rainy conditions only made the video more atmospheric and typical of the weather on the west coast of England. I know because i live in West Cumbria!
Hi Stephen thank you for another great video as always theres some really nice looking buildings down Palatine Road its a mixture of all sorts really what terrible weather you was very brave have a great evening xx
I enjoyed the video Stephen. Brings back so many memories. I'd love to see where the old Mecca building stood on Central Drive though I know it was demolished. I used to love to go dancing there back in the late seventies and early eighties. So many memories.
Another interesting video Stephen. I agree with you about all the wheelie bins. They make some streets look like waste recycling centres, very unpleasant. If there are no places to keep them what else can the residents do though.
Yes, once again brov....Great vlog...wow, am struggling with the side streets now.....proper demise....am struggling for words now.....fookin love Blackpool.....it's 10 mins away from me.....big respect...😊
Thanks Stephen. Blimey that weather looks dreadful, even the seagulls are hiding 😂It was lovely here yesterday and today, so I feel for all the poor buggers that have to put up with all that rain and wind. Nice little tour, that big college building is really nice, but some of the houses look in need of a little TLC. Interesting commentary as always.
In years to come your videos will be used by historians to describe the history of Blackpool and the decline and slow rise of this once great holiday destination.
Evening Stephen, used to stay at a hotel called the Devonshire on palatine road years ago, the owner used to wear a white shirt and tie to serve breakfast, this video brings back a lot of memories
Hello Stephen, been watching. You for a while from sunny Spain. My grandparents had a guest house in Palatine Road in the 60s and part of the 70s. I loved it.
Thanks Stephen for another brilliant and fascinating video. It’s a longtime since I went down Palatine Rd. My parents had a hotel on Read’s Ave, and they had good friends the Philpott’s (spelling?) who helped them out, who had a hotel on Palatine Rd. I never knew what it was called. There was also a big warehouse to the south of Palatine Rd down the back lane, where I was sent to buy things my parents had accidentally run out of. There was a girl at school in the early 1970’s called Susan who lived on Park Rd. Near Palatine Rd. Heading west down near Livingstone Rd, I could always smell newly baked bread especially in spring and summer.
Went to Palatine school for a short while about 60 years ago, and for the life of me i could not remember where it was situated until you did that walk, i also remember the clinic on Bennet avenue.
Robbie Williams Video was filmed at bell vue top 2 front windows and then central club and Lucky star arcade which is now velvet coaster pub something like that
@@hazelmanship7516 Good evening Hazel i hope you are feeling a bit better today I'm feeling a bit better myself today take care and i hope to speak to you soon
hi 👋 Stephen i was in high park london on sunday the weather is very nice this week the weather is very nice sun shining in london i am so lucky wow the weather is very bad in blackpool looking dull thank you for the video you are Amazing ♥️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Lovely building the college, and I've got to agree with you about the wheelie bins, it's not a good look. My local church shut down years ago and was turned into high price apartments.
The church looks exceptional. Such an imposing building, and an architectural gem that should be protected when so many historic edifices are disappearing. I think there were plans to knock it down and build a smaller place of worship, but obviously nothing has transpired.
Hi Stephen - love the videos - with regards to parking 🙃, the house owners tends to get a book of temporary permits that they can give to visitors to the property. 👍
Evening Stephen, evening everyone, great walk despite the rain, worse thing councils ever did was stopping bin collections from the back passages. Cheers mate.
Went to Art class there in the late fifties.came out of there one night to Avery thick fog could not see the houses across the road ,had to walk home to Layton on my own ,it was rather unnerving. All trans port had stopped.
Stayed in the Broomcroft 20 years ago, my dad was friendly with the couple who ran it and my dad, me and two brothers stayed the Saturday night for his 50th.
Was here this past weekend, at the henson hotel, brekkie at the velvet coaster both days and saw the pipes of poo opp craig-y-don was looking out for you!!
Stephen - The "University" building on Palatine Road was the original Palatine High School. My mum went there. It closed as a high school when they opened the new Palatine High School on St. Annes Road, where you and I both attended (briefly renamed Knowle for a bit if you recall). The original became part of what we called the "tech" college or Blackpool & Fylde College which is, it seems, morphing into a University.
Palatine School used to be on Bennett Ave just off Palatine Road before it moved to St Annes Road. Look down Bennett Ave at the right hand side of the Tech college (video 9.46) at the end is a red brick building that used to be Palatine School. Until Palatine moved to Sr Annes Road in a new building and then the name changed to Knowle High school circa (80's)
The Tec schools became Poly Technics which became colleges which became Universities. Blackpool and University doesn't hang together in my mind. Although the Nautical college was a world leader. ❤
They certainly bring an area down. Could you imagine the posh folk of Lytham putting up with neighbours having wheelie bins in their front gardens, I don’t think so.
the last time you went down Palantine rd i commented in 1967 i stayed in one of those b &bs with a scooter club (up the Lambretta !) the downstairs room at the front was the dining room with a bay window , if you opened the bedroom window upstairs you could stand on the flat roof of the bay. me being the youngest at 16 was stripped of my clothes and bundled out there much laughing from the girls in in our group and people in the street.
Evenin what a horrible night ooowa the red light area 😂😂 bring it on 😂😂 no I think the wheelie bins are unsightly oh we all know about Cookson street 😂😂 a brilliant video till the next one 😊
Hi Stephen Palatine School is called so because before the relocation it's buildings were behind the College. Now building 7 on the plans you were showing. It has a date of something around 1910 on the outside. Something to check out?
Where I grew up was so lovely them , if you look in my page there’s a video with old Blackpool on , church is Bolton though , but fab footage of prom coop st etc
Most roads / streets off Whitegate Drive have residential parking since the building of the Walk In Centre.. It's a shocking place to go to due to finding somewhere to park and should have been built in a different area maybe down near the Airport. The car park they built is woefully inadequate for the amount of cars it has to accommodate and seeing the residential parking restrictions nearby it's almost impossible to park anywhere.
