Haim Saban, the creator of Saban Entertainment, came up with the idea for the Power Rangers, an improbable pop cultural phenomenon that swept the nation in the 1990s. After watching "Choudenshi Bioman," the eighth episode of Toei Company's long-running "Super Sentai" series, Saban got the idea to adapt a Japanese tokusatsu (kids shows about superheroes fighting huge monsters). "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" was created after the Israeli-American producer reached an agreement allowing him to borrow the fight scenes from Toei's "Kyry Sentai Zyuranger" in his own program.
The first Power Rangers entry, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, debuted on August 28, 1993, and helped launch the Fox Kids programming block of the 1990s, during which it catapulted into popular culture along with a line of action figures and other toys by Bandai.
For the non-fighting parts, American actors were brought in, and a brand-new storyline centered on the made-up Californian town of Angel Grove was created. The interdimensional magician Zordon sought out a squad of "teenagers with attitude" to stop Rita Repulsa from causing devastation on Earth. They included high school students Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Billy, Trini and Tommy.
Sadly, not all of the original Power Rangers are still with us today, and we've lost many more stars from the franchise in the years since "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" debuted. ..

What hurts the most is the actual actors who played the iconic characters who became Power Rangers and especially Jason David Frank because he was the legend and the most recognizable ranger for being the longest running ranger of all time. 30th anniversary of Power Rangers won’t be the same without them anymore. 😢

I started watching on Zeo & Turbo when it was broadcast on TV 📺 but as for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers I used to own on VHS so I actually remember more actors rather then voice dub enemies in the series.

JDF is and always will be the saddest death of a Ranger, most actors usually just do their Season and move on, or occasionally come back for only a few episodes, but JDF always seemed willing to comeback WHENEVER they asked him, he always seemed to love doing anything related to Power Rangers, it's not too often you get an actor that attached to a role in a kids show. Well at least we already got to see how he'd do playing Lord Drakkon, an evil version of Tommy, and man was he awesome in that short trailer for Battle For The Grid.
Not only that but it's also the saddest death because he literally was the flagship of power rangers. Even if you weren't a pr fan in the 90s, Tommy as the green or white ranger was always the first thing that came to mind because he literally was the heart of the power rangers. I'm also going to miss his iconic and funny hyaahs as I remember always loving his badass voice and fighting noises as as kid. With the exception of Austin st. JOHN, no other ranger as a leader or sixth ever sounded as intimidating and fierce as JDF did when it came to calling out his morphing sequence or his zord. Power rangers will never be right without JDF and makes me sad and disappointed that he took the selfish way out as someone who professed to be a Christian.

You forgot Scott Page-Pagter (Voice of Porto from Turbo) and he's the Producer from Power Rangers. He died in 2021 from Cancer.

He isn't the only one they missed. They also missed voice actor/producer Scott Page-Pagter and I believe Paul Schrier (Bulk) once confirmed when asked either on Twitter or at a convention that Henry Cannon (Prinipal Caplan) had passed a few years back.

This was a great video. A great tribute to the Power Rangers actors and actresses that we have lost over the years. The loss of Jason David Frank hurts me the most. Rest in peace, all of these actors and actresses(especially Thuy Trang and Jason David Frank). You will all be missed.

Pua Magasiva also died in similar circumstances like Jason David Frank. Very sad that both actors had to deal with depression, Power Rangers Ninja Storm is one of my favorite seasons, definitely a underrated series from the Disney era. And of course after that it was Power Rangers Dino Thunder that has the return of JDF as Tommy Oliver. RIP to both Pua and JDF and alongside many PR actors who sadly passed.

I will always be a Rangers fan. I will always feel bad that Jason took his own life when he was so adored. The Morphin series has been loved for years and I hope they continue. I have seen many of the next gens and I hope they will continue. I still wish I could hug Tommy and have him want to stay.
Little Extra fact about Papenbrook (that I'm sure most people know): His son is the famous voice actor, Bryce Papenbrook, who is known for the voices of Meliodas of 7 Deadly Sins, Eren Jaeger of Attack on Titan, and Kirito of Sword Art Online. The guy truly followed in his father's footsteps :')

He was really nice, too. I got to meet him last year at a con. He was pretty chill, but I could tell he was getting tired by the time I got up to see him.

All these deaths are honestly sad because I grew up watching all these shows in the 90s and early to mid-2000s in the most heartbreaking one was Jason, David Frank because to me he is the greatest Power Ranger there is and as Zordon would say, “ May the power be with you”

Edward Albert shocked me. Not a ranger, but he did play a big role at 1 time in the show for an extended period. As a kid, it seemed like Albert was popping up in almost every TV Show & low budget horror film. With Albert’s extensive resume, it’s like you assume..... well, maybe they’re taking it easy now after going nonstop in 1 Project after another...... but, no the reason he disappeared after hitting 50 was cause of cancer & just 1 year after the death of his famous father.

It wasn't mentioned, but if I remember correctly, she was in the car with a few other friends driving home from visiting another friend in preparation for a wedding. The only survivors were the bride to be and the driver; though the bride (another actress) is now completely paralyzed. It's so devastating to all involved.

What started with Trini actress in Mighty Morphin, we started like a rock down a hill with losing at least one of our favorite actors and accompanying characters within each Power Rangers series. Next I think was Zordon, not entirely sure if that is correct, but anyway, form me, I learned some timd in 2019 that Shane's actor from Ninja Storm had died. After that, I hadn't really heard of anything related. Now we lost Tommy Oliver, AAAAHHHH, we are losing a of our favorite actors and actresses from this once beloved series. I know this is unrelated, but a few months ago, I learned that song writer and singer Aaron Carter had also taken his own life. I grew up listening to his music. Jason David Frank and Aaron Carter will both be missed dearly

This is so sad to watch, Honestly i cant't accept the fact that he isn't with us anymore, he sadly took that decision without getting any help, now i lost two of my idols because of suicide(Chester Bennington and Jason David Frank) i always loved their projects.
