Had Pico 4 so was more than happy to upgrade to ultra, store content not a major issue as I use mainly steam VR but I have noticed more and more content arriving on Pico store so I only expect it to improve more with time. Definitely a great headset and the fact its not front heavy and more balanced for longer playtimes was a major factor in why I went Pico over quest in first place.
I bought the Quest 3 because of support and software. Are there more powerful headset yes. But the quest is the best overall and leading the way. Whats the point of buying a powerful expensive headset if there is no software and support it will just collect dust after some time.
Mostly looking for a dev to make the game that will make the platform more seen by people. Also the pico brand was made for Chinese citizens since the meta quest brand isn't allowed to sell headsets there yet. Once they get rights to China pico is likely going to slowly dip

Since both headsets differ from each other, I use both. I bought the Ultra with the trackers, which I used for the first time yesterday, and it was really fun. I also like the 3D features. By the way, I took some panoramic shots with my phone (Samsung) and copied them to my headset. With the photo viewer, they look awesome. The only thing I need to figure out is how to copy the spatial videos from the Pico 4 Ultra to be able to view them in 3D on other headsets. So far, only 2D is possible. Someone needs to make a converter for that... or do they already exist?

I mean pico 4 regular from tyriel wood channel truly looks less sharp than quest 3, but pico 4 ultra said it has now higher render resolution . Did it really increase the picture for pico 4 ultra from pico 4? Lile os the difference of clarity still as big or closer, or maybe besides sharpness there are also some pros to the picture on pico 4 ultra than q3? It seems q3 did something that doesn't smear the display so it looks sharp. Just how big the difference haha, I wish you could share some through the lens comparison. Is the pico still looking more warm color than q3? The field of view of both if you take off the face interface and get closer? How about the passthrough, which is clearer now? And battery time?

Though the Quest3 delivers a sharper image, it has this overlap in passthrough that makes me see double when looking at my phone. The Pico4 Ultra not. Then, what I use the Pico4 for is watching movies, and special pictures I took in 3d and as panoramic pictures, a feature the Quest3 has, but it doesnt accept my pictures as such. Passthrough on the Pico is great. A few days ago I watched a movie on my Pico, but it was so hot, that I was sweating on my face. I took off the face mask and in passthrough there was no awkward distortion like with the Quest3. My hand outside the camera was almost the same like to be seen with it. It was like some heavy pair of ar glasses.
No face tracking, no buy for me. This company is on track though, currently waiting for a good wireless headset, with packaged trackers, pass through, hand tracking and face tracking, then i'll purchase!
Went back to P4 after using Q3 for almost a week. I tried to love it, but I can't. The binocular overlap, blurry edges, uncomfortable strap, and the weight are not tolerable, even though I already changed the strap to Bobovr S3 Pro, it still sucks. Maybe I will wait until Q4. I just love the software of Meta Q.

I can get a meta quest 3 for a very good price of 350Euros from the used market. Quest 3s would be cheaper but only by a bit. The pico 4 ultra is barely better than the quest 3 only in some categories while the quest 3 has much better software and more mixed reality options and is cheaper by a mile. The cheapest pico 4 ultra here in europe is like 600Euros. The choice is obvious.
You can't buy Pico 4 Ultra in USA so not even an option here unless you want to risk importing it to the country which makes it more expensive and also run the risk to be broken, DOA, or break in the near future and not be able to claim a warranty.
Dunno why we are comparing a budget option to an essentially deluxe option and somehow calling it an alternative, as if that logic doesnt carry with literally every headset that exists
