Ha! We knew someone would call that out. It wasn't meant to be mean spirited (we could have put any clip there). To make up for it though we gave Chillin a redemption clip at 5:30. Thanks for watching!
tafo is a G and his videos are dope, but he always sounds out of breath when he talks and his pacing feels unnatural at times lol... maybe nerves get the best of him when in front of the camera? either way i agree he's improving and his analysis is always spot-on regardless
Tafo, your delivery of the content and intonation of your words has become far more inviting and easy to listen to. It's almost the same speed throughout and the long pauses are just about completely gone. In fact you can only really hear the pauses when you're delivering the intro/outro and not really at any point during the meat of the message (except for some "-es" syllable sounds). It really drives home the feeling that this is a true to heart expert on the subject. Crazy how much you've improved in such a short time! Additionally that background music is a perfect fit and the change in music fits perfectly with the transition in the statement. You have a great team over there!
i used to like seeing these comments because im a PPMD fan but as more and more tournaments pass. i dislike seeing these comments now... because im a PPMD fan... Q_Q
+God Almighty You act like he took a significant break before Apex. All he did was skip Big House. This is different. It's been over 15 months since PP attended a significant tournament, at which he got 10th. Practice is not the same as competing, and the meta game is moving more rapidly than ever before. I'd love to eat my words, but I doubt PP will immediately or even quickly be a threat to win the tournament. It'll take significant time
Falco is one of my favorite characters in smash and he's super fun. But he's unforgiving. He's so fragile and the definition of a glass cannon. Thats part of the reason why people love to watch Westballz, Mango, and PP play because Falco is a fan favorite and is becoming an endangered species. Its unfortunate but it is what it is.
falco is a god when hes diagnolly below floaties. just quicky double jump and back air. jab upsmash, jab back air, and iffy jab forward smash are good against floaties that cant DI. use full jump dair to punish enemies if you know when they are going to jump. practice ur motherfucking lasers on platforms because just knowing short hop laser makes u sooo weak. learning all laser patterns so that floaties just have unexpected barrages of lasers at different heights make neutral just as easy as against a fox/falco/falcon/etc. LEARN YOUR SHINE WAVELANDS especially against floaties because you wont get many combo followups on floaties especially if you can only pillar shine fastfallers, learning shine waveland makes shine off the top easy to combo into which is HUGE. ac back air is god when USED CORRECTLY, make sure you space it correctly, if your aerial lands badly on shield (very high) then start DI ing the counter attack before they even throw it out. You're in lag and a counter attack is inevitable in this situation, so learn WHEN to DI, di is very easy but knowing situations where you can input it early will make your falco survive ludicrously long. PRACTICE DIFFERENT RECOVERY OPTIONS because everyone wants to gimp falco every second of the match, making it hard to read your recovery with air dodges, wall jumps, and shorten mindgames will make it very hard to cheese you
nowadays we actually have a decent amount of top 100 falco representation: -Magi -BobbyBigBallz -Westballz -Mang0 -Bones -Albert granted its not a lot but its more than we used to have
Really like this song. As for Tafo, I used to not be able to stand him. Now that he's put in a ton of work and got a lot more experience as a personality and on the mic, I think he's great! More Melee Science, please!
Here is my take on how to play Falco: Neutral: Mix up Dash-dances with auto cancel retreating back airs, empty pivot up tilts, wavedashes, and lasers in conjunction with everything I mentioned. Punish: At low percents on fastfallers, Waveshine Nair into Shine Nair into Up tilt into either a Back Air or Dair. Then use lasers to pin down the character into a Down Air. At high percents, keep shining until you reach the apex of the height. Then, Up B to finish off the stock. Use Up Throw to also Combo into Shine Down Air at high percent as a mix up along with Back Air. Then, intercept their recovery. At really high percent, do Shine Back Air to finish off the stock. Also, use Down Throw to combo Fox in certain situations. Use Back Throw as a mixup kill option between Bair or Dair. Use Forward Throw to gain stage control. For floaties, shining them off the top is a wonderful option to close out the stock. Use Shine Up Air to potentially lead into more followups or to gain stage control at low percent. Shine into Up Air into a Nair, Dair, or a weak Bair is a way to deal some devastating damage. Weak Bair can combo into a Nair or Dair. At 70 to 100%, laser Forward Smash at the ledge can kill certain characters like Jigglypuff and Pikachu. At higher percent, a Laser Down Tilt will kill most floaty characters. At really high percent, Forward Throw can put the opponent in a horrid situation. At this point, intercept their option with a Bair or Dair. Shine Back Air is also an effective option if done fast enough to every floaty. Up Tilt can lead into a Dair at mid percent into another Dair to take their stock. Forward Air also has a use in putting your opponent in a disadvantagous position at high percent. Shield Pressure: Use Shine Grabs with Multishines and retreating bairs and Up Tilts. Also Shine Nair. When you break their shield, punish with a Charged Forward Smash to kill everyone. Disadvantagous Position: Like Fox, you will get punished hard. On FD, let's say your fighting Mew2king. You know about the dangers of Marth's Grab. When you are at 0 and you get grabbed, mash as hard as you can immediately. If that doesn't work, than try to mixup you DI with Up Throws. Realistically though, you are almost guaranteed to die from a grab from Mew2king. It will probably work one out of hundred attempts. You are in slightly less danger when you get grabbed, though. When you are getting chaingrabbed by Fox, Marth, or Peach, getting tech chased by a Sheik or Falcon, getting wobbled by an IC'S, or getting Up Throw rested or Back Aired by Jiggs, do one of four things. For chaingrabs, mixup DI. For tech chases, mix up Roll In and Away with No Tech or Tech In Place. For wobbling, mash hard at low percent. For Up Throw Rest, DI the Up Throw and Up Air accordingly to make it harder for the Jiggs to kill you off the side. Finally, for Back Air, don't waste you Double Jump. Instead, predict that your opponent wants to kill you off the side, then fastfall or don't fastfall to confuse the Jigglypuff. Recovery: Mix Up your recovery with Shine Stalls, Double Jumps, Side Special lengths, Edge Cancels, Walljumps, Airdodges, Aerial Drift, and your 352 angles from any spot on the stage. Also DI properly to survive longer. OOS: You Up Tilt OOS to set up a combo and to get control of stage, Shine OOS to set up many combos, Grab to get stage control and to create space, and Back Air or Nair to get the opponent into hitstun. Zoning/Spacing: You use lasers to stop your opponent, Back Air to create space and to pressure, Nair to Crossup the opponent and to retreat from the danger of getting grabbed, Up Tilt to stuff your opponent, Dash Dance into Nair or Bair, Washdash Up Tilt, Forward Tilt, Forward Air, and Side B to catch your opponent off guard. Tech Chasing: If they Roll In, then punish with Nair, Bair, Forward Smash, Dair, Laser into anything, or Down Smash. Actually, Down Smash is the safest option to use because it covers everything except roll away. Roll Away should be punished with Forward Smash at all times at high percent. Get Up Attack should be punished with a Shield Forward Smash. Tech In Place should be covered with Shine or Forward Smash if you can't hit Shine. Ledge Options: Mix up between standing up, Ledgedashes into anything useful, Shine into Up B, Up B stall, Double Lasers at times along with Side B, Wavelands on platforms, and edge cancels. Summary: If you want to master this character, you have to be unpredictable. That's how you get good with Falco. Also grind out everything I mentioned. I could talk about situational techs, like Shine Mine, but here is the complete guide to Falco.
2:37 i feel so validated, i always felt people underrated falco and felt like most falco struggled to break out of top 50-20 range compared to fox players because of thsi resulting on no new top 10 falco, with mang0 being the only one left while plenty of new fox continue to reach to the top.
If you guys want a good falco to watch and learn from, check out Magi on twitch. He streams all the time, and at Genesis 6 he beat Mango in a mirror match.
I feel like he's in the place jiggs was in a few years ago, but after new players begin to really figure out how to win mus that top falcos struggle vs such as peach or jigglypuff and how to really break down and theory craft Falco we will most likely see a new golden age of Falco
Holy shit I need the song in this video Anyway, I, like many other Falco mains, dropped him for Fox. Fox is just much less unforgiving than Falco and can do several things that Falco cannot. Falco is extremely fun to play, but demands that you play absolutely perfectly every time or you die to nothing. Most people just cannot deal with that level of stress in high stake situations such as tournaments.
Falco is an extremely fun character to play as but I dropped him for Fox after not seeing any better results after lots of practice. I am a patient player and I analyzed PPMD, but I guess I still couldn't figure him out. I feel like I am improving faster with Fox, and I think that a better dash dance is better than lasers with hitstun.
Low level Melee : Falco does a flashy minute long 0-100 combo on Yoshi Story and fails to kill. Opponent Marth forward smashes once. Falco dies because 90% of the time his control stick points downward.
Great video Tafo. I definitely think most low-level and mid-level players need to develop more patience and mix-ups in their playstyle, as you can only go so far with spam laser -> shine/dair.
Hahahaha, Someone gets shit on by Luigi a little to often.. Its okay man, maybe learn the match up? Let me guess.. You are a fox player? So gooooood dudeeee.
I think another factor worth noting is that Falco doesn't really contribute a whole lot to the Melee ecosystem. When people switch characters, they generally do so to gain the upper hand on a particular opponent. Falco... for his relatively close matchup spread, where he beats or goes evenish vs some characters but doesn't really dominate them, doesn't really have that kind of draw. So he loses out on another source of character representation, which comes from counter-picking. Usually the only players who counter-pick with Falco already had the character developed from previous stages in their development.
this is why i dont get it when people say that Fox is the most difficult character to play in the game. Falcos tech skill is almost just as hard to perform but without having the same amount of kill options as Fox or without reliable grab follow ups like Fox has
Falco is much harder to succeed with than fox. Both spacies suffer from what tafo was talking about where you can just run in and spam your strong options, but falcos are just straight up easier to block. Fox shine pressure is just stronger because his grab actually means something. >but shine grab works on falco too. Fox has a disgusting up throw into like 6 (depending on percent) different free to hit options on fast fallers. Not to mention his basically free up throw up air on floaties. Grab is easily the strongest move in this game, if not only beaten by shine. I would never even consider falco at number one on the tier list simply because of his options out of grab. Any thoughts from anyone? I know falco can still hit you out of his up throw, but honestly tell me who scares you more when they grab you, fox or falco...
Falcos don't learn footsies because they think they can spam lasers and attack on shield and be good. If Falcos could learn how to control center stage and how to dash dance then maybe they'd all stop saying their character sucks. Falco for life
Falco is really hard, to use after a certain level, I hope ppl start realizing that and stop overrating him. I do love and wanna see falco rise to the true number 2 spot again.
Can you do a video on why we don't see very many Marth players at the top level? Marth has little to no tip top level representation besides mang0 (which is only a rare pick), or even Shroomed (with his secondary, which is also pretty rare). Thanks in advance
2:05 "At low levels of play..."
And he cuts to a clip of chillin' dude.... LMAO
Ha! We knew someone would call that out. It wasn't meant to be mean
spirited (we could have put any clip there). To make up for it though we gave
Chillin a redemption clip at 5:30. Thanks for watching!
Yahoo Esports I'm not lawful
Yahoo Esports top tier banter
@@maxt6211 never really been tho
They also showed Mang0 destroying Ken when they talked about Falco's speed overwelming players in pools.
tafo's presenting style is becoming a lot more polished. feeling this series alot
tafo is a G and his videos are dope, but he always sounds out of breath when he talks and his pacing feels unnatural at times lol... maybe nerves get the best of him when in front of the camera? either way i agree he's improving and his analysis is always spot-on regardless
Oh didn't expect to see you here my guy
oh shit t1j playes melee lets gooo
Tafo, your delivery of the content and intonation of your words has become far more inviting and easy to listen to. It's almost the same speed throughout and the long pauses are just about completely gone. In fact you can only really hear the pauses when you're delivering the intro/outro and not really at any point during the meat of the message (except for some "-es" syllable sounds). It really drives home the feeling that this is a true to heart expert on the subject. Crazy how much you've improved in such a short time! I'm glad I didn't have to scroll far to find this comment. Seriously Tafo, good shit man!
he's still really awkward and stiff in his delivery imo, think it's just how he is as a person
PP come back and show everyone what the bird guy can do :((((
He did (“you stil got it!”👏👏👏👏👏)
PP come home.....
i used to like seeing these comments because im a PPMD fan but as more and more tournaments pass. i dislike seeing these comments now... because im a PPMD fan... Q_Q
I'll bet anyone $100 that he isn't coming back. And if he does, he won't be able to make top 10.
PPMD practices melee dude LOL. go watch the interview armada had with him. ur gunna eat ur words when he comes back.
God Almighty It was that other Marth called Mew2king, the Marth in that tournament that failed the entire nation of Marth.
It'll take significant time
Poor Falco, I'll make him great again.
Please do!
The Gimz always gimpz
GimR go back to trash4 were you belong
As always the Gimz always winz
gimr why did you kill pm
Personally my favorite melee science yet. Great work all around.
Can we all appreciate how Tafo nailed his presentation and performance?? Absolutely phenomenal work. It was well thought out and perfectly executed.
Flaco is the Akuma of Melee, Especially his pillar combos, they're like Akuma's Demon flip shenanigans
I would say his shine mixups are the most comparable (shine grab, multishine, shine dair)
Honestly I play falco because of his dair. That's pretty much it.
jumping back to 2017 it's like Yahooooo!
Most important tech to get gud with falco- switch from red falco to green falco
true
that ain't falco
Falco is one of my favorite characters in smash and he's super fun. But he's unforgiving. He's so fragile and the definition of a glass cannon. Thats part of the reason why people love to watch Westballz, Mango, and PP play because Falco is a fan favorite and is becoming an endangered species. Its unfortunate but it is what it is.
JayE Just saying if The B0XX becomes huge in Melee. There is a chance that Falco will start to dominate again if The FGC comes and picks up Melee
More like an endangered SPACIES! HAHAHA AM I RIGHT...?
I'll see myself out
He's becoming an endangered "Spacies" lol
DazZle awe you beat me. didn't see your comment til now lol.
tafo your speaking abilities are getting much better! keep up the good work!
Tafo's public speaking skills are improving so much. Good shit.
Ride or die falco for me tbh, just need PP back to drop up some floaties knowledge
Nasian SSBM I didn't know that, ty
falco is a god when hes diagnolly below floaties. just quicky double jump and back air. jab upsmash, jab back air, and iffy jab forward smash are good against floaties that cant DI. use full jump dair to punish enemies if you know when they are going to jump. practice ur motherfucking lasers on platforms because just knowing short hop laser makes u sooo weak. learning all laser patterns so that floaties just have unexpected barrages of lasers at different heights make neutral just as easy as against a fox/falco/falcon/etc. LEARN YOUR SHINE WAVELANDS especially against floaties because you wont get many combo followups on floaties especially if you can only pillar shine fastfallers, learning shine waveland makes shine off the top easy to combo into which is HUGE. ac back air is god when USED CORRECTLY, make sure you space it correctly, if your aerial lands badly on shield (very high) then start DI ing the counter attack before they even throw it out. nowadays we actually have a decent amount of top 100 falco representation:
-Magi
-BobbyBigBallz
-Westballz
-Mang0
-Bones
-Albert
granted its not a lot but its more than we used to have
Tafo your speaking skills are getting amazing! Keep up the great work
I'll keep my position. Falco is highly underrated.
So is Roy.
who bird dis is?
THE REEEEADS
tOPH
Falco's waiting for PP to save them instead of learning stuff themselves lol
*instead of trying to style
Tim Fisher current falco mains just want to style
Really like this song.
As for Tafo, I used to not be able to stand him. Now that he's put in a ton of work and got a lot more experience as a personality and on the mic, I think he's great! More Melee Science, please!
Laser dtilt isn't true but it works a lot against floaties!
yeah his dtilt alone usually kills once your opponent is at 120+% most of the time
You use the laser on the approach to mix up
I know, I just wanted to put the percentage average out there
laser to dtilt is usually what I do
We're an endangered species man good to know we're sticking together
the falcos always have to travel in flocks, we need each other
I'm always here for the squad
Here is my take on how to play Falco:

I super respect solo falco mains.

Tafo is really stepping up his presentation skills
Yo what's the name of the song at 4:08
Damn tafo, I'm impressed.
You're getting pretty good at this :)
Great episode. More character analyses would be great! I'm curious if you think Doc is viable. We don't really have an Axe or aMSa of Doc.
Shroomed was for a while
forward is the closeset we have.
as a falco everything you say is so spot on it scares me
Daniel Lee is my favorite host of any show
Parents, talk to your kids about Falco. Before the hype videos do.
PlaceholderName underrated comment
Falco "Glass Cannon Gangsta" Lombardi
Also, great talk Tafo! I really see the improvements in your public speech skills.
That was about mango/westbalz falco, great vid.
But what about PP falco?
Anyone know what that image is in the tv behind tafo? Shit looks like a great wallpaper if anyone knows
great episode!
The birds beak is at its peak
This was amazing, thank you
Great work Tafo!
If you guys want a good falco to watch and learn from, check out Magi on twitch. He streams all the time, and at Genesis 6 he beat Mango in a mirror match.
I feel like he's in the place jiggs was in a few years ago, but after new players begin to really figure out how to win mus that top falcos struggle vs such as peach or jigglypuff and how to really break down and theory craft Falco we will most likely see a new golden age of Falco
if you don't know bout dominant falco, watch apex 2014 top 8, PPMD was brutal in that tournament
We need the Doc back, so we can make 2017 the year of the Falco
"In low level play..." chillindude comes on screen
Falcos gonna make a come back, im telling you
Ladies and gentlemen, you know he had to do it to em'.

What about "non-stop" tho?
Holy shit I need the song in this video
Anyway, I, like many other Falco mains, dropped him for Fox. Fox is just much less unforgiving than Falco and can do several things that Falco cannot. Falco is extremely fun to play, but demands that you play absolutely perfectly every time or you die to nothing. Most people just cannot deal with that level of stress in high stake situations such as tournaments.
good video. thanks Daniel
Falco is an extremely fun character to play as but I dropped him for Fox after not seeing any better results after lots of practice. I am a patient player and I analyzed PPMD, but I guess I still couldn't figure him out. I feel like I am improving faster with Fox, and I think that a better dash dance is better than lasers with hitstun.
what about Falco lasers plus dashdance
Low level Melee :
Falco does a flashy minute long 0-100 combo on Yoshi Story and fails to kill.
Opponent Marth forward smashes once.
Falco dies because 90% of the time his control stick points downward.
Great video Tafo. I definitely think most low-level and mid-level players need to develop more patience and mix-ups in their playstyle, as you can only go so far with spam laser -> shine/dair.
Love watching old clips of pp using falco
"EG|PPMD was the one. Soon he shall return, and the world will know the meaning of fear once more."
Very nice video!
These are good but i only really watch cos there are barely any smash 4 uploads.
ty recommended :>
Tbh, half the reason I picked up Falco was because I loved how PP played him. I'm a scrub, but I'd like to be more than unranked trash
great video
We need our birb savior now more than ever.
You really talked about Falco's speed and tech skill spam winning pools, and showed Mang0 dunking on Ken at Dreamhack LOL
Why did Yahoo closed one of their best creations? I'd love to see Yahoo Esports back
The birds going extinct
great job tafo!
Great vid
I play Falco because I hated (was jealous of) Ken back in the day and the Bombsoldier videos blown my mind.
♥ And with this I apply it to Smash 4 and proceed to get top 4 or 2 at my locals, babysteps
what about Ganon?
gay ass character whos neutral devolves into an obstacle course
What about Luigi?
braindead mongo downsmash character carried by janking out spacies and cheesing players better than them
Hahahaha, Someone gets shit on by Luigi a little to often.. Its okay man, maybe learn the match up? Let me guess.. You are a fox player? So gooooood dudeeee.
Take a shot of vodka everytime Daniel says falco.
we need ppmd plz
Rest in Peace Yahoo Esports. Rest in Peace.

It baffles me that there's an actual esports (placeholder noun idk) that is competent enough to be taken seriously by the community in 2019.

How dair you
I first mained Falco when I picked up the game. I feel guilty for switching to Fox. :(
down tilt is a floaty killer, running short hop laser d tilt. do not try and back air at 180% :///
this music is groovy
Falco is really hard, to use after a certain level, I hope ppl start realizing that and stop overrating him.
I do love and wanna see falco rise to the true number 2 spot again.
WHAT ABOUT MARIO?
Handsome Bird
Falco main here
do what about luigi
I love you tafo
Did c9 drop this guy
Can you do a video on why we don't see very many Marth players at the top level? Marth has little to no tip top level representation besides mang0 (which is only a rare pick), or even Shroomed (with his secondary, which is also pretty rare). Thanks in advance
M2k, PewPewU, The moon?
Imagine if Hungrybox quit melee.
Would there any jigglypuff left?
Did he just skip Dr.Pp when he mention Falco players blasphemy
tafo idk about the cardigan my dude
if PPMD was here, he would make people believe that falco's still top 2 in the tier list.
PP MAKE FALCO GREAT AGAIN!
King Momo!!
Falco here. I'm fine.
FalcoMaster3000?????!!?!? Come back!
Then those ppl play falco in smash 4 and then proceed to burnt the disc
