Its scientific name is actually Excalfactoria chinensis and the king quail is not a true quail, the genus Excalfactoria contains two species, the other extant species of this genus is the african blue quail (Excalfactoria adansonii) and belongs to the family Gallidae.
Amazons and Macaws eat eggs of other birds in wildness and I've known that Amazons can eat meat so it's not a wood idea to add big parrots to the enclosure, but cockatiels and budgies or even better canaries and finches will do fine, even facility pigeons could be an option as they are not as aggressive as a bantam may be .
The pond is naturally filtered by helofytes (aquatic plants with the ability to filter the water most efficiency). In the same pond we have African pygmy geese and several species of fish. It is the most natural way of providing drinking water for birds. Have you ever seen wild birds drinking only tap water? Healthy birds have no problems with pond water; I work with this for over 10 years without any problem.

Marti woodchip Foul fish water? You should see the chicken I had, it preferred to drink out of a large pot outside I used as a small pond for small fish rather than his own little water dish. No filter in it either. Just a power head and and a ton of plants. Ammonia and nitrates where low. Also how else do you think wild birds get their water? Yesh these things even eat their own poop.
these birds are USELESS....they are not even friendly...I was tolled they would be friendly but they weren't so I ended up butchering them....at least they tasted good...now I am raising texas A&M quail and they are not only friendly but they taste even better...I have certain ones that are used for egg production and even though the eggs are small they still taste great...planning on hatching more next year for eating.
Finally someone with a good home for their birds ,
Thanks! But I'm not the only one keeping quail this way ;-)
Ahhh what a good little rooster. He’s tidbitting for the hens. Mine are only just turning 2 weeks old
Lovely little birds. I have some. I hadn't banded though, I thought there little legs were too teensy
such cute little birdies!!!!!!
I bought a trio yesterday - wild colour. I think they are adorable.
Quail are so underrated and here we call these ones King Quail.

Lovely birds
beautiful. do you eat the eggs?
This is possible, but the eggs are really small.
what a beauty, can you keep them with Parrots in an aviary?
Depending on the species of parrot, maybe yes. The quail are very friendly, so the parrot species makes it possible or not.
I'd advise against it. Especially if the quail hatch babies. Could have an unpleasant outcome

Silvi Jano you can house small type of parrots like parakeets. But DON’T house anything larger than a parakeet like a live bird etc
Barad button quail
You have them drinking foul fish pond water?, not a good idea since they will certainly get sick from microbes and bacteria in the water.
