These delays are trivial for the A5 X2s long term success. There is no alternative for modularity or notetaking organization. Since they are planning for the next 5+ years nailing the design is something they are clearly prioritizing.
It’s the only e ink device with repairability, upgradability, a more durable substrate (plastic) with a commitment to software updates for the lifetime of the device . This is as close to ‘future proofing’ as one can get and it’s the only e ink device that offers it. Combined with the stellar customer service and of course all of the unique Supernote features (the note taking optimisation and feeling of the screen protector) I think it’s totally worth the wait
In all honesty, without sounding like a heretic, is a good tablet (Android or iPad) with a pen, going to be the real competition to the current and next generation of e-ink devices? Just a question, not trying to slam e-ink. Thanks.
You can not really compare the Supernote with other e-ink devices, in my opinion it is unmatched for handling and reviewing large amounts of text as well as writing feel yet can not touch Boox and the like for multimedia, because it isn't made for that, as usual it is about your user-case. I purchased the A5X and haven't looked back yet purchased a second-hand Boox device to compliment it. I do all my handwriting, reviewing and manipulating of large swathes of handwritten text with the Supernote but with a Boox Lumi set in a stand on the table, search for biblical references and information on the web. I want the A5X2 for longevity purposes, confident that I have a device I can repair and possibly upgrade in the future. If you are looking for a multimedia device, which most already have in the form of a tablet or computer... you shouldn't be looking at a Supernote, but if you wish to manipulate large volumes of text, review documents and books with a natural handwriting feel, in my opinion, the Supernote is king.
New features and the approach to make things replaceable is great, but they should have get on the color ASAP! that is my whole reason as to why I am not upgrading yet. Great and better product than all others when it comes to black and white display.
I’ve been looking to buy my first e-ink device and have just ordered a Boox Go 10.3 because it looks like the A5X2 will be more expensive and I simply can’t wait any longer.
The Boox Go will probably be discontinued in no time and then a newer, bigger, brighter, better version will be rolled out. This is the Boox business model, which I personally hate. It may take Supernote longer, but at least they don't bring out new models every few weeks only to then discontinue their older models.
Assuming the SN A5X2 becomes available before 2026, I'm sticking with it. The Boox devices drive me crazy simply because the company brings out a new model practically every month and then discontinues others that were working just fine. Now if only Supernote would create a monitor (!) with all the good qualities we've become accustomed to from the company. The Boox Mira in the 13.3" version has supposedly been discontinued and the 25.5" version costs as much as reasonable down payment on a BMW (ditto for the Bigme 25.5"). The Dasung devices don't work with Macs, and the Eazeye Radiant people are also asking over $1,000 for their no-frills monitor. This is a sad state of affairs.
Repairability, storage upgrades, no subscription service to store notes like Remarkable? Better screen in every possible metric, better controls, better note taking software, an actual security policy making it suitable for enterprise use?

I agree completely.

Agreed on all counts! Supernote is really the only reliable e-paper maker.
All those unique features... can't even draw a straight line. Ah right use a 📐 so it really feels like paper...

Not a fan of A5 size, but those who are hope they get chance to get one soon.

I think it will be worth the wait. I like the transparency and sustainable concept of the company too.

Not sure what you’re expecting from the monitors honestly. The panel alone at that size costs like $450.
Buying used Remarkable 2 now feels like a steal, notebooks are notebooks, why do people want updates?

@hb-robo I bought remarkable 2 for 200 usd. So I don't think I can complain anything about it,unless someone sells me air 3c for 200 usd.
Not to mention never ever having to replace the nib on the pen!
