Totilas Freestyle Tribute - the whole stick horse performance

  • In case you missed the stick horse performance at our Christmas Party 2009. Here is the whole test - an adaption to the original Totilas freestyle that fascinated the whole dressage world for 2 years. This is a tribute to Moorlands Totilas. When you don't have a horse like that stallion in your barn, this is what you can do to experience what it must feel like to ride a freestyle like Edward Gal and Totilas. This is as much a tribute to the horse as it is to the rider, as well as to Joost Peters, who created this freestyle.

    what's fabulous is watching how hard it is for a mere human, even one who knows the horse's movements so well, to do the same moves! I've heard this is also a fun hobby for kids who don't have real horses.

    i keep thinking that he has really good expression and i catch myself and scream
    *he does need to work on his canter though, he's not sitting back and lifting
    and for his i think second extended canter he really needed to collect, collect, collect *then* explode
    but great flying changes, solid
    see, you couldn't see much difference between him going through the corner where he should have been collecting and to where he was extending, which should have used just as much impulsion as when he was doing his flying changes
    *his flying changes omg, great impulsion
    *hooooh boy what am i dOING

    Lovely, sensitively "ridden" freestyle ;) Hey, anybody brave enough to do that in stiff tall boots WITH a stick between their legs deserves a medal. Especially in that beautiful canter half-pass and the extended trot. Of course, the "free walk on long rein" was the icing on the cake :D Hopefully somebody let him use a hot tub and an ice pack afterwards. I bow to the master. You rock.

    Dear horsecrazy4011, you have your own opinion of how you see the english riders, and that's your right I guess. But do not make fun of us and call us ridiculous. I have been riding as long as I can remember and have tried it all. Western, dressage, jumping, racing, you name it I have done it. While I do not like everything I respect other people's choice even if I may not agree with it. You have tried english and didn't like it, I've tried western and didn't like it. Accept and move on.

    This gives us humans a perspective on how strong horses are from watching a human run the same exhausting pattern.

    • @christinefury7839
      @christinefury7839 6 лет назад

      And that statement explains why horses were used as a work force in the mines, fields, army, transport etc etc before they invented even stronger machines to do that job. Fact is the German army still used 700,000 horses in 1941because they didn't have enough trucks for their logistics. Oh, and when they ran out of fuel for their trucks and cars during the war... the horses got it even worse.
      Last of all at marathon distance an Olympic runner will still beat a horse. This has been proven. When it comes to training several times beyond their born normal limit human are superior to any other species on Earth.

    you may not think it's "traditional" or you may just not want to ride with a helmet but when you fall off your horse and crack your head open and die I am going to feel no pity and say "I told you so!" In dressage the traditional thing is to wear a hat like that guy is but MANY dressage riders ride with helmets! not a lot of people these days go riding without a helmet on their head. you would me smarter if you did wear a helmet!

    if you get a horse used to a myriad of things that horses are normally afraid of, then your horse will not spook i garentee. he will trust you. another reason horses buck, or throw riders is because of bits and spurs and whips and any pain related tools. i cant believe how many people defend bits. a bit is a peice of METAL wich is made for pain compliance. spurs where originally made to roll up the side of the horse wich tickled the horse. nowadays, people jam them through horses shoulders

  • @horsecrazy4011
    @horsecrazy4011 11 лет назад

    im sorry about what ima bout to say but this is just what i see at my barn. all the english riders use harsh bits (or any bits at all) and they dont concentrate on the task that they are given. me personaly, you can learn to comunicate with your horse in any riding disipline. the riders dont comunicate with the horse. when the horse does something undesireable, they dont take the time to figure out what spooked him, they just beat his ass with a crop
