Sad story for a beautiful horse. People thinks that money can buy everything, but horses are not machines, they have feelings and raise amazing bonds with those who really love them.

@@kidstuff44555 ofcourse. I love Valegro as well. Just knowing how terribly totilas was treated hurts me more. He was so good but ruined by his riders. Both edward Gal and Mathias Rath have killed his spirit. I miss Valegro a lot too. Would have loved to see him compete a bit longer
It took for them 11 years to publish this good quality video... Why did we have to wait untill Toto died? What a shame. What a tragic life... One of the best dressage horses in wrong hands... The story of this horse pushed me away from dressage world. Shame on you
What happend to Totilas? I've seen many comments about that he shouldn't have been sold, but I can't figure out what happend to him next..
@@DanielleVanLeeuwen12 Totilas was sold to Paul Schockemöhle , his next rider was Mathias Rath . In my opinion Rath could‘t handle the skill of totilas in this time ...

But Totilas life itlself didn’t went into a bad life , Rath was just the wrong rider
@@MineTVsim I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with Totilas and Gal being a dream team. Gal is a techniqually perfect rider, but sadly he's been using LDR and rollkur with Totilas and as it's looking right now Total US too. There's several pictures and I could link a long text where someone uses videos and picture to show why Totilas was broken before Rath.

@@miss_whipps Hopefully one day the FEI will punish Edward Gal, hasn't changed. Looking at Total US is the same story sadly. Worst part is that he's a fantastic rider who took the wrong path. Hope Toto flies high, lovely horse.

I am completely new to learning about dressage but I was mesmerized by this performance. Even in spite of the rollkur, Totilas performed with such presence, could not take my eyes off him.

I literally cried after I heard about this story bro I feel so bad he got abused and died he didn’t deserve that he deserved a good life after all he had been through
I was front row for this freestyle in 2009 and the entire crowd was captivated and transfixed by this incredible pair. After the final salute the room was electric, everyone erupted into applause and a standing ovation knowing what we has just witnessed - A one in a million horse in perfect harmony with his true partner, Edward Gal, and at their peak. This is how I choose to remember Totilas.

You can clearly see he is in pain, swishing tails is a sign of pain and you can clearly see that the horse is hurt just by looking at them. R.I.P Totilas, you deserved better. God had plans with you, but people ruined the plans.
This is like putting a stack of rocks on top of each-other and taking the bottom one out, boom, they all fall down.
A horse can only handle so much. Totilas handled beyond maximum of his capabilities. He was abused, not denying that. But Totilas was a great horse none the less. His body was pushed beyond repair. Rest in peace❤.
Totilas is a legend and legends never die! He is still running on our earth but we cant see him anymore..💔

I am new to Toto’s story I’m deeply disturbed, last night I saw this video and took a hard look 🤔 not knowing his story after falling into the rabbit hole and I found how he was abused I look again and I see , I’ve seen this in real life always wonder wtf but knowing what rollkur is and deep research now I am livid 😡😡

Great to see this beautiful horse once again with a good rider. What a shame, that he was sold to Germany and given to a rider who was absolutely unfit for a horse like Totilas. Gal was able to celebrate so many great moments with this horse, even breaking a record while Rath just rode him from one injury to another. I'm still so increddibly sorry for Gal, that he had to give up his champion. These two had been such a beautiful pair to watch and I wish that they could have had more time. Now Totilas can finally be happy again. Run free, beautiful champion!

@@melaniep.7396 Totilas was never the owned by Gal. The owner let Gal ride Totilas. And then the owner sold him to Germany for a big amount of money after Totilas had such a big success. I remember that there was big interest for this horse.

His passing is so sad and tragic. Why? It wasn't old age. His body was pushed so hard that it broke down beyond repair. I'm sure his owners were crying all the way to the bank with his mortality check.

Totilas was a very drop dead gorgeous stallion and he left memories to treasure for as long as anyone rides and competes in dressage. Totilas you are missed! RIP to the magnificent animal you are. 🏇🐴🐎❤️
He's the best rider ever. He exhibits no changes. You see corrections but they seemingly come from nowhere. I've never witnessed anything like this. God bless you Edward, and thank you, thank you so much. The idea of comprehending what you're doing requires a master class I know you never sat through. This type of seat happens in our dreams as they did for you. Let's talk more about that.

You can tell he's trained using rollkur, poor horse. Can you imagine what a spectacular horse he would have been if he were classically trained? He would have really been a star instead of a controversial argument.
It's a pity he never really competed against Valegro.

@thegojotoyournanami he is weak and hollow behind the saddle, he isn't tracking up and his hindquarters are out behind him not underneath him. His poll should be the highest point and his face should be just in front of the vertical. Instead of teaching him to use his back and become round they have just hauled his head in using force.
@@secretsquirrel7374 I see what you mean, however I have seen some horses having their face on the vertical because of their neck placement and shoulder structure, making it look too tight. May this be the case for Totilas as he has a high, thick neck?
@thegojotoyournanami maybe and he is a stallion which also gives them a bigger neck. But you can't ignore the rest of his body. Also he has that really extravagant movement in front which doesn't match his hind legs and that is also a sign of rollkur being used.

Richtig geschunden wurde er tatsächlich erst in Deutschland. Da hat es einen steilen Anstieg der Vernichtung gegeben.

Totilas's movements are so bold, strong, and confident! It's truly pleasing to watch these two masters doing what they do best. However, my favorite part of any good dressage test is the end, when the rider gives praise to his/her horse and you can tell they know they've done well.
