- Hurricane Barbara viciously strikes Springfield but, by pure chance, the house of Ned Flanders is the only one destroyed. As a result, he begins to lose his faith in both God and the townspeople around him.
All rights go to 20th Century Fox
You know, I've seen this episode several times, and this is the first time I've noticed that the first blue-haired mental patient is actually The Babysitter Bandit.
A lot of episodes are really clever like that. I've seen every episode atleast once. And it never fails when I watch one again I see something I didn't before...
The last Tiny man was for a cinema episode
@@clacktloc5816 um no. That was a cameo from a totally different show. The Critic
@@Dan-qx5mi who was also in the cinema episode, so really, you were both correct
The 2nd guy is john swartzwelder a writer who never comes into work and stays at home all day
"Thanks for droppin' by'"
That ALWAYS cracks me up. 😁
Me too!!!
+Kari Chandler When I log out of my bank account, a message appears reading, "Thanks for droppin' by!" Every time I read that, I _always_ hear Flanders' voice.
IKR LOL
Why. Least funny thing about this clip.
Hilarious 😅
Love it how even Maggie needs a "sane" sign
Crazy babies need the most attention!
You're a sign
@@alexoblivion9295 How is that an insult?
@@alexoblivion9295 At least (s)he's not a ligma.
The guy with the moustache at 0:21 is John Swartzwelder, one of the main Simpsons writers
Beat me to it, lol.
Schwartzwelder was the least "Hollywood" writer the Simpsons ever had, as well as the best and most prolific. He smoked like a chimney, loved guns and hated being around other writers (or other people in general, for that matter). He was a lot like Hunter S. Thompson, a lot of genius with very little tolerance for humanity.
Looking at their writing credits, its pretty clear that Schwartzwelder was a much better writer than Maxtone-Graham.
Also the cider mill they visit in Burns, Baby, Burns was called Mt. Swartzwelder.
i thought it was the singer david crosby!
John Swartzwelder?! You're sure? May God have mercy on us all...
Wish I could wipe bubble gum off my face with one swipe
Omg, THANK YOU!! That used to bug the shit out of me too! lol
maybe you can but with luck you'll never have to...
Yea that's a quality rag to have
Chewing gum's got to be CHEWED out!
@@99thJediWarrior Some great solvent there..lol.
"Get in the booth" 😑, always cracks me up
Agree. This scene is probably my favorite Homer moment.
Yes, it is funny 😁
"Yes, Mr. Sherman, everything stinks"
"I think you'll be *plesently* surprised" is one of my all time favourite Simpsons gags
I'm guessing Jay Sherman.
I always thought it was a nod to Hannibal Lector
lol you edited your comment and you still spelt pleasantly wrong?
"maximum hostility factor. "
brad vinci "I engaged intercourse with your significant other."
Proceed to level 2 antagonism! Love that bit.
@@qwertyiuwg4uwtwthn NOW THAT'S PSYCHIATRY!!!
@@qwertyiuwg4uwtwthn i love how he says it so straight faced.
Hilarious touch having Maggie apply her own sticker in the beginning. Blink and you miss it
Past instances in which I professed to like you, were *fraudulent*
Straight savage
*Thanks for dropping by.*
Thats brutal
I mock your value system
That quote kills me every time 😂
@ You also appear foolish... in the eyes of others.
0:22 LOL 😁
JAY SHERMAN: It stinks! It stinks! It stinks!
DOCTOR: Yes, Mr. Sherman, everything stinks.
Mr Sherman got to that mental state when he saw the Emoji movie
My favorite scene from the whole episode, I've quoted it countless times since I was a kid :)
Wonder what caused the Babysitter Bandit to end up in rehab lol. Back in season 1 she managed to escape without getting arrested.
She got caught after the end of Season 1 and eventually sent here when she claimed she was insane.
to be fair, she probably wouldn’t have escaped if homer didn’t untie her before the police came
0:46. Get in the booth.
and he wipes that gum off his face amazingly fast
It's funny that Homer puts on the "Sane" sticker, and then 10 seconds later it's gone from his shirt.
I mean what are we, to believe that this is some sort of magic sticker or something? Boy I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
“Get in the booth.”
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It Stinks,It Stinks,It Stinks,It Stinks!
Yes mr. Sherman, everything stinks.
Now THAT'S psychiatry!!
Physiatry
I love how many references to older episodes they jammed in this one section.
It's funny how Dr. Foster's prewritten cards didn't work, but the other doctor encouraged Homer to use his own approach to get Ned to open up to his repressed dislikes. This helps Ned admit to those dislikes, including his irritation for the post office's lack of service and his hatred for his own parents for not punishing him when they had the chance.
Ned sure has a lot of social and stress control I tell you that
It was from Foster's previous treatment that caused Ned to repress his anger for years on end until the aftermath of the hurricane, his store being looted and the loss of his home finally made him snap. After leaving, he felt terrible about his tirade to the townsfolk who tried to help him and admitted himself to Calmwood Mental Hospital to be treated.
0:17 crazy babysitter??
yes
the only other time she appeared in the show
and the guy next to her is john swartzwelder (the best writer on the simpsons)
+Soko she is in the tapped out game.
+High Ryza And/or David Crosby. Swartzwelder looks a bit like him, according to the show's writers.
the newer seasons of the Simpson? it stinks it stinks it stinks
My thoughts exactly after Hartman's death.
Yes Mr. Sherman, Every episode stinks.
People have been saying that for 20 years.
Steve w no the newer Simpsons really does suck though, compared to the older series'
Steve w what the heck
Anyone else shocked that Homer pronounced fraudulent correctly?
The laugh in the face of someone's saying that they had intercource with your spouce is trully gigachad move.
It seems like Flanders is a bit homesick from being locked up in the psych ward and can't suppress his joy upon seeing someone who reminds him of the free world.
0:18 I'm glad they finally caught that psyco. She was a dangerous fake babysitter who tied up Bart and Lisa, robbed people and she got away because of Homer's dumbass. Thank God they found her because I thought they failed. Lol
I love how their mental health therapy is to try and egg someone on till they snap.
I did wonder if it was based on an actual method used by psychiatrists at some point…
It’s more they were looking for something to make him stop repressing his anger, so they could use it to teach him healthy coping mechanisms. Until now he had two extremes: bottling it up, and exploding.
Homer just mechanically reading from the cue cards which are written so complicatedly that Homer doesnt even understand it, or was not told to use them only as suggestions for formulating his own insults.
It wouldn't have mattered, the only time Ned actually said anything remotely cross to Homer was, "Simpson, I'm gonna have to ask you to leave, I hope you understand."
"You appear foolish in the eyes of others"
"Past instances where i professed to like you were fraudulent"
What a horrible set of things to set. Just horrible.
Foster was trying to get Ned to express his anger in healthy doses. Under normal circumstances, that would rile anyone up. In Foster's case, it didn't do anything for Ned.
0:16 it's the babysitter bandit
Oh yeah! I’ve never paid attention to that. That’s a brilliant Easter egg
I like how his lens didn’t get gummed on
0:10 earliest known form of clickbait.
@ The Simpsons predicts everything 👌
All these years, the bubble in the face never fails to do the job.
"Homer, CAN YOU BE THAT ANNOYING?!"
Jay Sherman: "It stinks, it stinks, it stinks!"
Yes Mr Sherman, everything stinks
"I can hear you walking by!..."
0:03 I wonder why The Simpson Family are happy about when they are at the mental-hospital?
Physiatry is a field of medicine focused on long-term rehabilitation of physical injury and illness to the musculoskeletal and/or nervous system. Psychiatry is a field of medicine focused on mental health. You need to fix your title, big boy.
.......first fix the spelling
Ana Wolfkin
You're not very well educated are you? Nothing was misspelled, so go troll elsewhere.
Fuck off, nerd.
Psychiatry*
No shit. The first response said that. Don't act all high and mighty by regurgitating the same shit others before you have said.
I want a magical handkerchief like the doctor used to wipe bubblegum of his face.
It is spelt OFF
May god have mercy on us all!
0:18 The evil babysitter that should have taken care of Bart, Lisa and Maggie in a former episode
What a terrible place to cut it off when you do not have to.
I remember as a kid, I often questioned at 0:41
"Homer. Can you be that annoying?"
Is Doctor Foster asking Homer to be so annoying to Flanders to make him repress his rage? Or his Doctor Foster asking Homer: "Can you be that annoying that you have to blow a bubble directly into my face?" Regardless, No matter how many times I see this. This always makes me lose it. XD
Get in the booth.
To this day I wonder which patient was a cannibal.
I LOL'd big time at the doctor talking about the cannibal in their facility.
Who was the cannibal anyway?
This insane theory I read on TV Tropes is that Jay had a mental breakdown after Coming Attractions got cancelled, causing everyone in his life to leave him, then the web series picked up only to get cancelled yet again and Jennifer dumps him soon after, leading Jay to start drinking which is why we see him at Moe's in "Ziff".
It would be so cool to see a Critic movie where he gets Alice back with Jennifer, Margo and Marty's help (Also to see them poke fun at stuff like A24, MCU, the rise of streaming, 'death' of the theater industry, Fast & The Furious, the Snyder cut, #Metoo movement, COVID-19, etc.) but I doubt anyone involved with The Critic is interested or they are just too busy, and stuff moves so fast these days compared to the 90's it's hard to make topical Movie industry/Cultural references without being instantly dated (Family Guy "To Be Continued Meme" for example).
I thought he was forcibly admitted into that psychiatric hospital by Springfield because he continued to denounce Football in the Groin as a great film. 🤣🤣😂😂
The critic
You're the only other person in the comments I'm sure got the reference. Congrats
Sammie1053 Actually i knew the reference the first time i saw this...The Critic was such a brillliant show!! Its sad that its not on anymore :-/
Javier Vargas I loved that show!! Jon Lovitz is fantastic. I miss it.
It's not that tough being a film cricket.
The sad thing is... we never discover the cannibal...
Maybe it's the doctor??!! 🤔🤭
These are my golden years here. Where the show kind of takes time to show you the inside of characters' character. Cuz everyone knows a Ned Flanders but do they know why Ned is Ned? Ya know?
Lmao haha one of the very few episodes featuring the critic "Jay Sherman"... "It stinks!", a pun to his role as a film critic in his own cartoon series... cant stop loling
Oh boy, this is getting really good with Credit.
Everyone outside of this room is against me. I can hear you walking by.
The babysitting bandit!🤭
“Can you be that annoying?”
Seasons 11 - Onwards and The Movie say “Yes!”
Actually towards season 12 13 14 and 1t weren't that bad after that it started to drop the comedy
Mr. Sherman ended in Calmwood too...i knew it that guy is too harsh😁
Gosh this is my favourite scene of the Simpsons, "Homer, can you be that annoying,....just get in the booth!" Cracks me up every time!!!!😅
“Oouu thanks for dropping by!”
I think Jay Sherman is the cannibal.
0:18 That Criminal Last Appeared in *That enchanted evening*
0:41 homer can you be that annoying
Get in the booth. 😒

Buy my book! Buy my book! Buy my book! Buy my book!...
At 0:18 they was the babysitter bandit
Vc xxzekxx You're absolutely right, If I remember correctly her hair was much lighter in the Babysitter Bandit episode, but that is definitely her.
Too bad they didn't give her a line, or when they walked past Bart & Lisa could have made eye contact with her & Bart could have slammed the door in her face, we never heard more about her after the babysitter episode & she was a good character, it just seems like they could have given her a little more attention, yeah?
Psychiatry. Physiatry is the field of rehabilitation.
Oh, it cut before the best line every written.
"Oh that's it! You can't insult this guy! You call him a moron and he just sits there grinning moronily."
This clip in particular let's you peek into how he's lived next to the Simpsons for so long. He's REALLY BANANAS, his whole facade strangled his true personality
Just fyi, 'physiatry' refers to the medicine of physical mobility and rehabilitation. The title of the video should say psychiatry.
Ohhhh thanks for dropping by!
0:21 John Swartzwelder
Jay Sherman was the cannibal.
0:48 Nice callback
*thanks for dropping by*
1:11 LMAO no one talks like that in real life lol too funny
May God have mercy on us all.
"yes, Mr. Sherman -- everything stinks"
0:18 Nice to see that crazy woman was captured.
Maximum Hostility Factor lol 😂
It's Psychiatry, not Physiatry.
Very different disciplines.
0:45 doctor wanted to hit him bad lol
0:22 I see Jay Sherman took the cancellation of "The Critic" well 😆
0:22 Bahahahahahaha yes!!
Who's the second guy who backed away from the door?
It's a former writer from the show named John Swartzwelder.
Thought that was David Crosby at 0:20. Apparently it's Schwartzwelder
Does anyone noticed the babysitter bandit from season one
0:22 “It stinks, it stinks, it stinks..”
I know it's a cartoon but damn, how unrealistic easy that gum gets wiped of his face is just ridiculous
Who is the cannibal?
Rooms they past. The babysitter bandit, David Crosby, Andrew Sherman from The Critic.
"Very funny, wise guy - but Maude's told me that she'd rather throw herself from a tall building than ever sleep with *you*."
There is no repressed rage in enlightenment lol
maybe so, but Ned IS repressing his rage
0:26 yes Mr. Sherman. Everything stinks
0.25
this guy is from( Aaahh!!! Real Monsters)
Now calm down Neddily iddily diddly
“Ned Flanders, I mark your value system. You also appear foolish in the eyes of others.”
Damn hilarious sentence.
Babysitter bandit Lucille Botz wasn't caught from the previous episode 'til she appeared in Hurricane Neddy
is that the critic?
DEVASTAT0R THE EXCAVATOR MAN where
What happened to Homer's sane sticker?
Aw that's it, you just can't insult this guy. You call him a moron and he just sits there, grinning moronly.
Supernoobs: Kevin Reynolds blowing Bubble Gum jump in the air & against the floor, When Kevin Reynolds’ Bubble Gum Popped right to his face.
This reminds me of Hap Palmer Music Video: “Chomping Gum”
So internal affairs was setting Ned up all along?
What are you talking about, there was nothing like that in the video?
