I’ll preface this by saying I think I have a great university director. He lets me sing low notes even when they’re not written. But every once a while he’ll tell me to rein it in so I just gotta role with it. (Personally I think the note was just the right amount haha). As a professional artist I adher to different director’s instructions and so here we followed his instructions after the clip ended. Other directors I sing for at gigs will ask for more (often the Russian ones or for Russian music) which is a blast, both figuratively and literally!
@@saared6705I do, they are all on my page. I’m strictly choral though, it’s my comfortable domain of music. I let people like Bobby Bass do the YoHo’s they do it well

It is a good thing for directors to control what’s going on. It is also really good that he lets you even if they aren’t written! But I also personally think it sounds better when you do 😂

@@D3nn1syep. You understand. You know the ones with a real ear. Just by this video. Those who say no perfect. Or opposite!! More. They don't have it. Anyone who hears it with there real inner oratory ear as Michael once said really know the balance.
Nope. It was AMAZING. Trust me, I'm an opera singer. When you have such a clear tone, it doesn't even have to be loud, but it's such a good depth. It's beautiful. And it doesn't go over all the other voices, it gives them just the right amount of peace and stability to the whole harmony. Thank you for posting this!
Like the other dude said, this is a recording. On another note, you are a singer, the dude giving out instructions is his director. Directors direct, singers listen and sing
@@Akaeronth what ya talking about he sounded amazing with the rest of the choir and the director "said too much of a good thing" what if he was totally wrong. What if this was regionals and he blew judges out of the park?
I agree with the man in the video, it does sound a little too much, I play in a orchestra and I've had times where the basses can play a Little louder than the violins
Usually wouldn’t say “too much” but you just perfectly tune your voice with the natural resonance of the room it just seems sooo natural and right. Incredible honestly, you have such good taste with your delivery and timing
That was a mixture of 80% "Gotta rein my boy in a bit" and a 20% hint of "Man i wish i could do that shit..." 🤣 I think your voice is a perfect mix of haunting and beautiful ❤
Well in my inexpert opinion. It’s was bloody gorgeous! I reminds me of the times I heard the monks at Namgayal in Dharamsala, India (the Dalai Lama’s residence in exile). Your whole body resonates to their baritones. Marvellous. Thanks for sharing your gift, you made my spirit soar.
Just because something sounds absolutely incredible in the abstract, doesn’t mean it’s the right fit for the art and the story that is being created. I love how your director gives you freedom but doesn’t lose sight of his vision of the music! 🎶
Glad you have the respectful attitude to listen to your director, they can hear the whole blend of choir and room acoustics. As a sound engineer I often hear more than when I sing, baritone.
Oh my gosh this needs to be in my back pocket anytime of day. When I find my favorite cheese in the store, when Selah goes to sleep early, when I get time to my self!....lol This sound just stops my thoughts processes😮
We cannot appreciate the reverb of the room. It may be too much for people who are in the same space. Since this is a recording, we are limited by our device audio.

It was 👌 perfection.
NO WAY. That was glorious.
Bro I cried 🥲
That was... Beautiful
It was great but tbh it didn’t blend together in the start which is prob why the director said to do less
Dude need to leave his ego at the door, not try to up stage the other singers. Very selfish behavior
💯% with you

Just the other way around for me, beginning fit perfectly but in the end he was too loud :)
If the soprano had lasted a little longer, the oktavist would have been in balance. 😊
I think it's at the end. Just a little long.
@@neviestixyes sure. It was ending earlier though by the sound of the rest and time.

Problem is the audio we hear is a recording. Hearing that bass note so clearly probably means he was pretty loud. Which is unbelievable to me 😂

Those other guys are so light and elegant that the deep voice is just way out of place😂 I can understand the director, but that was still glorious
nah - as a fellow musician and Christian - that was perfection
agree, they are signing with sligh less volume, he should adjust a little.
People like OP have no place in a choir. It's a group effort, not a pickme club.
