    He's a bodybuilding icon, an action hero, and a former governor of California. But beyond the muscles and the movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger, embodies the power of lifelong dedication to health and fitness. While a heart surgery necessitated a shift from his intense training style, he still lifts weights, favoring lighter weights and higher repetitions. we'll delve into the strategies that keep this legendary figure in shape, even at 76 years old.

      he was born with an abnormal bicuspid aortic value which already put him at a disadvantage. Anabolics of course don't help as they can increase LDL cholesterol, so these factors, plus the fact that he probably wasn't eating clean, led to him needing heart surgeries later in life.

    My great-grandfather came from Austria-Hungary and Bohemia. He was born in 1899 and passed away in 1995. He taught me to read and write before I went to school He taught me to defend myself and be a good person. He was my role model, only after his death I saw photos from 1938, when he was a power gymnast and the first bodybuilder in the Sokol group... I've never seen such a muscular man without taking steroid... He always told me to eat fat 🥩 meat, I hated it, but he gave me fish oil in the years and saved my leg that was crooked like a chimpanzee. The doctors didn't help, but all it took was months of fish oil and the leg swelled up

    Agreed! Following a strict regime of healthy food, good sleep and exercise is the optimum plan for longevity. However, as my doctor advised, some folks get to a certain point in their lives when quality of life is about living according to what makes them happy. That is when meds step in to make a questionable lifestyle livable. Personally, I prefer the first option but I can certainly understand a person's choice to live their happiest life.

      Arnold used to eat a rotisserie chicken and a pitcher of beer after a workout. That was before he met Vince Gironda and learned about burning the fat off with the keto diet. Vince called it the Maximum Definition Diet...steak and eggs. The chicken wasn't the problem but the beer was nothing but empty carbs.

      Hi Paul, Am 48, I walk 5 to 6kms everyday early in the morning around 4.30am. (It takes me an hour) After reaching back home I do some squats & stretches. I do weight training with a kettlebell and dumbbells approx three times a week focusing on high repetitions to have a leaner, better defined shape. Resistance bands are pretty good too to maintain muscle tone. After years of experimenting with both diet and exercise, what am currently doing is working well for me. I think you need to follow your gut and try to arrive at what type of workouts suit you the best. Best way in the gym is to start light and then increase weight as you feel stronger. Your body will speak to you as you move on. The approach to diet and exercise, in my opinion, cannot be a “one size fits all” thing. Cheers, Dan

      Starting at our age, compared to a younger man, a younger man can push through the pain barrier and push their limits with little recourse. At our age, pain isn't to be pushed through but to be used as a warning to stop working that particular body part and to come back to it another day. Our chances of injury are higher and our rebounds take a lot longer. Not saying don't push it, just saying obey your bodies warnings. Better to cut a work out short and come back to that body part in a weeks time than push through and be injured for six months.
      Also as we age our muscles absorb less protein than when we were younger. For this find an online protein calculator that allows you to input your age. ..also Vitamin C and proteins is used to repair connective tissues, so as an older guy, protein and vitamin C needs to be top of your list.

    • @adamd9418
      @adamd9418 7 месяцев назад

      This might be a good point. I doubt the impact is direct, though a person could imagine that a poor diet puts additional strain on the heart and might magnify the impact a congenitally deformed valve would have. Though it would not likely have changed the course of if it needed to be replaced. Once a valve is formed it's not going to change.

    Arnold has been my hero a long as I remember. His is the only autograph I ever asked for and I got a scrible on the 1978 Mr. Olympia program cover where I met him. I was a cheerleader to his California governorship campain and have copies of so many of his movies including Conan The Barbarian which I first saw on the big screen.
    I thank you for the insights of this video because at 71 years old and having been cured of cancer I have found that I can't train like I did back when I was competing at 34 years old. I too will be training until I die. Its funny, my favorite shot of me on stage is what I call my Arnold pose he made famous taken from the side, a little twist to show the little waist and arms extended straight head glorifying chest, shoulders, arms, waist and symetry. I like his breakdown of having time to train during the day. I will use it talking to people in conjuction with oneI have been saying since the early 70's before being aware of Arnold which was; "if you're too busy to train, you're too busy, so train.
    Personally, I have adapted to different training methods and this video has helped me to decide how to change my neutrition.
    Cancer had almost knocked me back to starting over again, but Sloan-Kettering kept be from getting put in a box; I have gained a lot of weight (naturally endomorphic), from my competiotn weight, but Im 71, take no medications at all, am training, have the want to and "I'll be back".

      It causes from salt/potassium imbalance. It has nothing to do with protein or red meat consumption. Your body is either lack of green veggies or lack of salt or both. Always eat beef or proteins with lots of veggies and salt(most good protein powder will have potassium and salt). Also heart attack is occur where there's not enough animal fat to protect nerve inside the heart. If people were to cut out vegetable oil and use butter or lard heart attack would never happen.

      It's just nonsense to talk about plant based versus animal based. We should be talking about how to create a balanced diet. With the right proportions. And both can be incorporated.

    It's not just what you can see on the outside, it's what you are doing to your vitals inside, they are what keep you alive. Rather have healthy internal organs,than massive muscles and joint problems. As you age your body needs more of some things and less of other things. Different exercises etc.

    Of course, diet is very important and gets more important the older we get. But Arnold's heart problems came from heavy steroid abuse. I never touched a steroid or other PED, did my decades of heavy lifting naturally, eat everything but concentrating heavily on fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, cheese, nuts, and eggs. I have zero health problems and am still stronger and better-conditioned than all the young guys in the gym, and I'm in my mid-60s. Plus, women say my natural-looking physique (many say I look like Michaelangelo sculpted me) is vastly more attractive than the pumped-up guys who can't scratch their back and walk like a stiff robot.
