Whenever the Terps played a big-time rival at Cole like Duke, UNC, NC State (when they had David Thompson) it was IMHO one of the most electrifying venues in college basketball history!! Bro you obviously havent been to all these arenas if you have Assembly hall over mackey. If this was during the knight/Keady area i could understand. But not nowadays. I go to iu vs purdue every single year at mackey and at assembly hall. Iu has mostly theater seats, which encourage people to stay seated. They do not sell alcohol. And 90% of the people that go are senior citizens still trying to hold on to the glory days of the past. Its good if you want to watch a basketball game like your at a movie theater. But, if your going to base it off of most hostile environments and ear shattering crowd decibels, then the experience at mackey is far better. Its mostly bench seats packed to the max with intoxicated purdue fans that stand the whole time and scream because sitting offers no room for your ass because the numbers on the bench are about 8 inches apart. Literally breaks the sound barrier! I understand the history of IU being known as a hard place to play, but its not comparable to purdue anymore. And if you haven't experienced the difference, go to both places and tell me im wrong...
