Tennessee's Thompson-Boling Arena AT FOOD CITY CENTER (lol) is about to undergo a 90 million dollar exterior and concourse renovation with an NBA style center hung scoreboard. It's not groundbreaking. But the renovations will modernize the arena exterior and bring it in line with the overall UT facilities architecture. The renderings look pretty good.
I still don't understand why you would want natural light coming into an arena when during day games, you have to put up a curtain to block the natural light due to the glare.
Funny how MSU fixed basically everything you said was wrong with the Hump. The only problem is that there are no pictures of the renovated version on Google. As far as the columns go, that pattern has been there since it was built in the seventies, and make it one of the most recognizable buildings on campus.

Rupp Arena is a sight to see every time I’m in Lexington. You should’ve seen the outrage in KY when they announced they were changing the stadium name. That’s why they settled on Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center.

I have been to the Hump and Coleman coliseum. The Hump is fifty times better. The renovations have made it modern for watching the game in comfort even if it's not the best looking. Coleman is the most cramped place i've ever been and I am not fat😂.
I have been to AU, Ole Miss, Miss St, and Bama. Bama is by far the worst. The Hump was just fine. Auburn and ole miss are basically brand new arenas, both have to be top 5.
Memorial Gymnasium is easily the worst basketball arena in the SEC. If you are sitting in the back of the middle decks the upper deck blocks the view of the jumbotron and feels weirdly claustrophobic. There's also no air conditioning.
Correction, LSU’s basketball arena is called the Pete Maravich assembly center or The PMAC for short. Not “assembly center”. Also, they just announced that LSU will be getting a new basketball arena which will have involvement with the city of Baton Rouge for bringing in national acts and making it much more than just a basketball/volleyball assembly center for the university .

I'm an Auburn grad...I don't mind Rupp above Neville, but Thompson-Boling? Serious? That is trash. I would move UT down 2 and Auburn and Ole Miss up 1 each. What I like about Neville is that the sight line to the game is continuous...so, when you go to concessions, you can watch the game while standing in line. The standing-room only area with a bar for food and drinks is also a nice spot to watch the game. The natural light makes it feel bigger than it is. It is definitely nicer than Cameron Indoor. Rupp is fire with that outer reno. I would also have only a 13-arena listing because I would move that hideous Vandy arena to the A-Sun where it would be mid (Lipscomb would be #1).

I'm at rupp every weekend. Terrible parking, the upper bowl is vertical and very hard to get up if you are going up there. We have ice cream but it's now 7.50 for basketball and 6.50 for gymnastics. The worst part of rupp is how expensive it is.

They finally replaced them with tinted glass in a renovation around 2000.

But regarding the Pavilion at Ole Miss, if you're trying to say here that the player recognition wall with the jersey numbers and such on it is somehow being used to block out the natural light from those big windows, you're incorrect. That wall is on the opposite side of the arena. This leads me to my REAL question. Have you ever actually been TO these arenas in person to be able to formulate such a ranking or are you basing your list strictly on Google images you found online? I ask because if you have never actually BEEN TO these arenas, how could possibly make an accurate ranking list? Cleveland is one of the worst architecturally designed cities in the world. So it is not surprising when someone from that area of country tries to rank stadiums and arenas in difference conference and leagues that hardly anyone is going to understand his logic. In previous rankings, tOSU stadium and arena were highly ranked even though both structures look like abandoned warehouses in a bad part of town. These gigantic stadiums are design to hold a hundred thousand people and almost all of them are hideous in appearance. They are also functionally compromised with bad sight lines, uncomfortable seating, poor acoustics, and not enough rest rooms and concession stands. It seems like the size of arena or stadium matters far more than the design to the person doing these ranking.

If you ever played at VU, you would love it. Room on sides and at ends so fewer injuries after fast breaks and going after loose balls.
