@@jmcculloh88 smith center isn't all that and i'm a unc fan bro. it's great for capacity and recent history ofc but as far as renovations and modern-ness it isn't up there with some other stadiums.
Duke's administration has come to Coach K over the years about building a new on campus basketball facility with more seating. Coach K says no and wants to stick with Cameron.
Smaller arenas do tend to get louder than a bigger one. I'm guessing it has to do with less area between walls of the arena, allowing noise to echo and fill up the space more.
With the continuous popularity of the Blue Devils, as a former Carolinian, I have always wondered why Duke University never built a larger stadium. Duke would be rolling in the dough.
The walk up to Pitt’s arena from Fifth Avenue is a beating… a relatively steep incline that is par for the course in Pittsburgh. It’s not too shabby inside though; I covered a couple of Pitt preseason basketball games at The Pete when I was a freelance writer a few years ago.
Boston College's basketball arena used to have a parquet floor...a tradition they carried from playing at the Boston Garden, which also had a parquet floor. Several years ago, BC went to a more standard court design. Also a while back, Wake Forest's parquet floor featured the Demon Deacon head.
Finally got to one of my favorite Conferences! Thanks! I was at Both the Tucker Civic Center for a Teacher's Conference, and The Watsco Center for several events including my daughter's Graduation! Finally, visited the KFC-Yum center on vacation!
Fun Fact: Syracuse's law school is right across the street from the Carrier Dome. When it was gameday for either basketball or football it was a pain in the ass leaving the law school.
Yum Center may have two main tiers of seating but there's a lot of seating between them. I'd argue it's three tiers but I guess it's two, technically. Also got a huge brand new score/video board in renovations this offseason
Louisville/Yum Center needs an NBA or NHL Franchise. That arena is too nice to not have a pro franchise. The yum center is also getting a renovation in 2021
Love this series. You should look into NCAA ice hockey. Some schools use the same arenas that they have for basketball (Boston College, for example) but there are some really beautiful buildings.
Fun fact about Clemson and North Carolina basketball. Starting in 1926 the teams played at North Carolina 60 times, and Clemson didn’t win one until 2020. At least we got football
If you've never watched a Syracuse football/basketball game at the Loud House it's something you need to consider. (Also, forgot to mention that Boston College also plays their hockey at the forum.)
I like the black look in arena ik black does get boring but once it's blended in very well it does look really awesome even white but ik every other color looks good but black it looks really good it just has that arena feel to it if you know what I mean
Is the Virginia arena named after John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin or John Paul Jones the naval commander? Or John Paul Jones the artist? Or the athlete? Or the ship? Why are there so many John Paul Jones?
There's a youtube video of a guy trying to ride his bike down one of the half-arch beams outside of Cassell Coliseum. Well, I mean, he did ride it down. Things got rough for him when the front tire hit the ground though. ruclips.net/video/iws54vEw1t8/видео.html
@@wyolaskan1868 Hahaha. You are correct that it would seem more logical to group the Cs together. The reason the TLC goes together is Tallahassee-Leon County is a locale while the CC (Civic Center) describes the building. The moniker was coined by local sports radio legend Jeff Cameron. This Tucker Center name is nonsense that is for official use.
Tucker Center, underated. Better than Cameron indoor, it's overated. It's small and looks like a high school basketball stadiums, especially with the hoops they gof.
Yum center is by far the nicest arena I’ve been to
Agreed. I was surprised at how wide the concourses were for an urban arena and their trophy/museum area near the entrance is really classy.
Never been to the smith center?
Definitely has the yummiest name by far as well
@@jmcculloh88 smith center isn't all that and i'm a unc fan bro. it's great for capacity and recent history ofc but as far as renovations and modern-ness it isn't up there with some other stadiums.
Umm no. Jpj
I love stadiums, so I love any channel that is dedicated to stadiums, thank you and keep up the great videos!
Cheers!
@@TheWideWorldofStadiums I dont think Michael Jordan played in that exact arena. I think he went pro in 1984 two years before the dean dome.
I'm stunned Cameron has under 9500 seats. It always sounds like its 25k or more
Duke's administration has come to Coach K over the years about building a new on campus basketball facility with more seating. Coach K says no and wants to stick with Cameron.
Sometimes it’s not about how many people fit in the arena, it’s how close they are to the floor. Cameron is one of those arenas
Smaller arenas do tend to get louder than a bigger one. I'm guessing it has to do with less area between walls of the arena, allowing noise to echo and fill up the space more.
It has a low flat roof for a college arena so when the fans cheer, the sound bounces off the roof making it sound way louder than it actually is.
With the continuous popularity of the Blue Devils, as a former Carolinian, I have always wondered why Duke University never built a larger stadium. Duke would be rolling in the dough.
Hope you end up doing the Big Ten Conference’s basketball arenas. Some new, some old, ALL unique in their own way
Go Hoos! JPJ has one of the best atmospheres in the league

It was built where the football stadium used to be.
They call it Cardiac Hill lol and having walked it myself as you have I get why lol

Cameron Indoor Stadium still gives me goosebumps every time I walk inside of it

The most famous arena to call itself “Stadium” is probably the now-demolished Chicago Stadium

I've been to JPJ for a Carolina UVA game nice looking arena
I'm looking forward to the Big East arenas, can't wait to hear your opinion of The Pavilion.
Still patiently waiting for the MWC...
I’m still patiently waiting for the A-10. Hopefully he gets both done soon.
The seats in the first arena are called "Butt Slabs"
You're welcome.
Your channel rules mate... i fantasize about playing gigs at all these arenas and stadiums
Louisville/Yum Center needs an NBA or NHL Franchise. That arena is too nice to not have a pro franchise. The yum center is also getting a renovation in 2021
Louisville won't get an NBA team for the same reason Columbus Ohio(largest city in Ohio) doesn't have an NFL team, can't compete.

The Joyce Center at Notre Dame now has a green roof, which looks stunning.
It makes sense that Notre Dame is in the Atlantic Coast Conference, since it is (checking map) in the Midwest
Lol I lived and slept in McCamish while I worked at GT, great memories
Can you please do southern conference football stadiums? Thanks and love your vids!
Would love to see big 12
The dean dome is one of my favorite arenas. Also I believe that the KFC Yum center was built in a hope for Loserville to get an nba team
Could you do baseball stadiums at some point down the line for college teams. Lots of very unique ones

You should do Atlantic 10 arenas sometime
Next to the KFC Yum center there is a random troll statue from a nearby restaurant. The troll because it's "under the bridge"
Perhaps the placement of UNC's video screens is an homage to the Dean Smith era's Four Corners defense?
Four Corners was an offense.
A very defensive offense
Can’t wait till you do the Big Ten! Best conference in college basketball
Please do the Big East basketball arenas!
Ill be at the Carrier Dome tomorrow night!
Are you doing the Atlantic 10?
Hey mate, please do the Dutch Eredivisie sometime, would like to hear your take on that.
I think it's pretty cool that UVA named their arena after Led Zepplin's bass player.

Please do the Big 12 next! I would love to see you cover my school's legendary basketball arena, Allen Fieldhouse!
Now that their hockey team has their own arena, I would like to see Notre Dame replace the Joyce Center with a basketball only arena.

Home Depot
