  • Found footage and analogue horror is a fantastic genre for storytelling, and with unreal engine 5 producing interesting horror content has never been easier. In this video I demonstrate how to really elevate your camerawork by using Virtual Cameras paired to an iPad or iPhone, allowing for actual handheld camera tracking. To demonstrate this, we return to the backrooms and infinite liminal libraries maps to get some shots. Thanks for watching!

    It's incredible, I'm amazed by this technique, I don't know if it exists but imagined a virtual camera in VR

    Easy to follow tutorial. Any idea if there’s a way to smooth out the movement a little so it still feels handheld but doesn’t have so much jitter?

      Thanks! The footage captured in this video was the raw input, I believe using the take recorder you can adjust and smooth the camera motion in sequencer. I’m still messing around with this myself, best of luck to you! :)

    Dude. I've thought about trying to figure out how to add real camera shake using VR and tracking a controller for the camera. I don't really know anything about how to set that up, but I was just thinking about how would be the optimal way to add camera shake for Backrooms videos.

    Thanks for the awesome tutorial dude, This is awesome work, I have a quick question that you may know an easy answer to, Using the Horror Engine or without it, How can i make this as quest, for example, You come across a camera and then it brings... say a widget on screen(that i know how to do) how to interact with it and the player then has to connect there device to walk through the rest of the map and then gets to the end and the user stops using the device and carrys on as normal, does that make sense. Lol 😆

    Thanks for the video! The movement speed seems too slow when you walk with the camera, is there a way to increase this?

    • @DrakeMakes
      @DrakeMakes  Год назад

      The reason it can feel slow is due to the environment being at a larger scale than my recording space. Rescale and take larger steps :)

      I felt slow in my environment as well. All I did was scale up the camera, and it worked like a charm.

    For the love of god is their any way to actually do this on an android device? I've been wanting to get started with virtual camera in game engines since forever but I simply cannot just because there is no android alternative! This is so incredibly stupid I cannot afford an iphone what exactly is so special about ios that it cannot be done in android?? I'm just stumped...
