Great song. Would be fantastic to hear a song like this at Eurovision, showing off Scotland's immense talent. Keep up the great work........... 's math a rinn! ❤❤❤
Cannot agree with this more. New spin on a solid powerful tradition of the Gaelic language. Fabulous 🏴👍🥃❤️
I was thinking the same thing! A song like this would blow the roof off at Eurovision, unless voters had something wrong with them 😉
@@ScottsLand Scottish music has so many of these powerful traditions that are screaming to be heard by the wider world. These music traditions have been kept down for too long!
@@AndyB1286 Imagine this and so many more of Scotland's music on that Eurovision stage. Let's not forget the ballads, they also would score big if done as professionally as this.
@@scotlandeurovision8032 Absolutely. The problem is, at Eurovision it's the UK that appears, not England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland individually. So you can bet your life that, before a Gaelic song had a chance to represent the UK, there would be cries of anger and criticism from the public, even within Scotland where Gaelic is still widely frowned upon. I am learning Gaelic (tha mi ag ionnsachadh Gàidhlig) despite being English myself, and I've heard some stories. The sad thing is that many Gaelic learners/proponents are not activists - they're just interpreted as being that way :( Having said all of the above, I will do my best to ensure that the language doesn't die, and I'll try to make it clear to people that we're not trying to piss anyone off, we just want to keep this beautiful language alive :)
Celtic languages are so beautiful don't let them die.
This is what I have for lyrics of the first 45 seconds (probably a very poor transcription- I know some Irish/Gaeilge, not really any Scottish Gaelic/Gàidhlig). Typed out after listening closely and studying lyrics to "Siuthadaibh A Mhnathan".

Is their lyrics for translation? These words in galic are strong and moving. I am only getting a story through the video as the women falling in love with the man who was long gone after his passing if drowning.

Beautiful music
Reminds me of my last trip to Scottish highlands. Such a beautiful composition ❤️
This is very interesting, I’m from Australia with 1 British parent and 1 Scottish parent, the Scottish one is my dad so I got his last name which is Mckinnon, my research suggests my family originated in the isle of skye although I could be wrong,I believe there is a cave called Mckinnon’s cave or something similar which is where we started, we have our own crest and all 😂, and the half British half Irish parent well yeah I got more of a British accent than a Scottish accent but you can still tell
Also my family came over on the first fleet my nan has pictures of them ,that’s why I’m in Australia not Scotland,Ireland or England ect 🏴 🇦🇺 🇮🇪 🏴 🏴
Alisha Hanif not a clue , my family are from everywhere but we live in Australia and NZ
Maggie Mckinnon best wishes from Scotland x
I’m a Skye Mackinnon, crazy hearing how far our clans spread!

Awesome 🤟❤️🤟
Gorgeous song!! Love it!! .....Lyrics?
Aw, man, I was hoping against hope that he'd wake up :( Still a brilliant video and wonderful music as usual, though! What does the name mean?
Mary T. "Air fàir an lá" means "at dawn of day"
Thank you! I knew it was something to do with the day, but couldn't find what fàir meant. :)
In Gaelic folklore, shape-changing is a common theme. Lovers would change into different animals to avoid their enemies, hence the two swans at the end of the video
Love it!
my cat died today, and as he took his last breath this song was playing :{
I feel sad for you man. My little cat puss puss died very sadly in the dawn of November 12th a few years ago.

Haha, leis an fhírinne a rá, deirim féin ‘tha’ in áit tá agus mé ag caint uaireanta 😬😂
Enchanting. Enjoy it while you can coz the outlook for Scots Gaelic looks very grim.
As of the newest numbers, less than half the population of the Western Isles (the language's heartland, which is very sparsely populated anyway) speaks it and there are less than 2,000 native speakers under the age of 18.
There’s always welsh. I can bring it in. 😏
500,000 people have signed up to learn Gaelic on Duolingo since December 2019. The response has been fantastic. I’ve worked through all the levels to level 5 and I only have a couple of subjects to cover before I complete the course. No, Gàidhlig is not dead....it is rising once again!
This is wrong, if anything Gàidhlig is on the rise! Multiple Gaelic schools are available now, there's a very good one in Glasgow! More courses are popping up every day through Scottish universities and colleges! Its exciting and I do feel that there is a lot more interest in the language from the Scots (and others from around the world as proven by the 500,000 new learners on Duolingo). We must remember that Gaelic was oppressed for centuries and I feel the newer generations are beginning to claim it back and allow Scotland to be proud of the language and our Celtic roots just like the Welsh and Irish are! Alba gu bràth 💙
Dochreidte ar fad
