I can't express how important your videos have been to me. I'm attending college for the second time (computer science), and I've always been terrible at math, but I can understand your explanations-they are very clear. I've been getting almost all the questions right on the exercises, and it's because of the knowledge you've shared with me. Thank you so much for teaching me and for helping me realize that the problem wasn't a lack of intelligence on my part, but rather the method by which I was taught. Thank you for being my teacher.

This may sound trivial or hair-splitting, but I'd prefer to hear, "A function is a machine that USES values of x to generate y." I think students will relate to that quicker than most other phraseology. In other words, plug in a value of x and the function spits out a value of y. You did a good job. It was lots better than Mr. Bloom the freak who pretended to teach us Calculus 101 & 102 did.

Life & Family soon became my Priority and I never got into Calculus. So, I figured I did pretty good thus far...how hard could it be? Ha...Calculus is Humbling! Especially if your on your own. Everything always started off with "Function of X"...WTF is that!? Why do they always start off like you already know what that is? Now I know and feel like I can now move forwards :) Your Explanation of the various "Functions of X" is well done and quite Informative too!!!

I'm honestly thankful I came across this channel. my daughter is taking algebra her first time ever and AP... with a horrible teacher who doesn't believe in actually teaching or notes.... 🤦🏻‍♀️ just watch a brief video, either get it or you don't.. here's the worksheet and do it. Told her to ask questions/make it a habit (she's 12, so learning to over come that fear of asking questions and taking quicker notes...), but her teacher responds with, "you'll figure it out as we go along..." luckily, algebra has been one of my stronger areas, but trying to remember from high school. when she shows me her homework and asks, I'm like oh this and that.... not fully paying attention... then give it a 2nd look and I'm like 😳... noticed all the answers were correct but always told her if she can explain/show me how she got her answer then I know she fully understands. she blantantly said, it doesn't make any sense and this is what the teacher told us to write down and we moved on to the next chapter..clearly mentioned no 1 else in her class understood either and even tried asking, to be dismissed. she kind of had an idea, just that uncertainty and I couldn't think how to simplify from the beginning...
point being, less than 10 so far of watching this video and I already know this video will help explain and make sense quickly w/o the stress. thank you for breaking it down into layman terms.. explaining the ins and outs and why it's called function of x.... etc etc etc
she's been sick the last week in a half, so with already a bs teacher then so far behind knowing her teacher will just say... you'll catch up...... just 🙅🏻‍♀️ nope. (picked up her work and go figure.... not a single page of notes... just the work) exactly why I always worked w/ her over the summer for years. never know..
anyways... sorry for the long comment....
thank you so much for this video.

@@mervismakasi779 think of a function as a method lets say y=x here y is a triangle and x is gonna represent the sides of triangle. So here function is like a machine which is saying that this condition results in x. Fx=x means function of x=x meaning that fx=y as y=x so does fx =x the only difference here is that fx is said as function of x which is equal to y as y equals x .

After 10 mins of whatching this I understand it. When you drew the graph of function f(x) = x^3 I instantly got it why is it like that. Before I had no idea what those graphs represent.
