  • Learning about functions is critical in math, especially in Algebra. Many students struggle with the concept of what a function is and how to determine is a relation is a function. This video will explain in detail the foundation of what a function is in algebra to include how to evaluate a function and what the domain and range represent with respect to functions.

Absolutely, traditional education system has so many flaws, one of them is having to attend a prolonged lecture which extends a 10 minute topic to 30 minutes +.

I think once you understand the use of functions or the way they are used it just makes everything so much easier to understand, some teachers just go into this topic and just give you questions without understanding what functions help with or what they do exactly making the topic just very vague or forgetful that you will need to remember all over again. So I found this video very useful!

Yeah, it’s like an English-speaking Korean who speaks both languages and expects you to understand the language without context clues solely because they know Korean and expect you to know because they gave you a translation dictionary.
Math has to relate otherwise we’re just memorizing hoards of language for the sake of a degree but probably won’t use it again. In essence, it’s useless to some degree for those who don’t directly use it in some practice or trade.
The uses derived from it are helpful but no one’s really applying it if it’s simply memorizing long strings of information. You might as well be learning how to code.

Look Julee Rowley, MATH started 500 years ago. there were many developments that have been made. To answer your question, this is the answer. In math = 1 +1 = 2 , In algebra 1x + 1x = 2x now, admit it , your math foundation is weak because it is in your mind. WHY WEAK? IT IS WEAK BECAUSE , IT COULD BE YOUR TEACHER METHOD OF TEACHING OR YOU YOUR SELF. STYLE OF LEARNIBNG . To be good in math YOU NEED TO CARRY ON ALL THE FUNDAMENTALS / FOUNDATION LEARNINGS IN THE PAST. IT REQUIRES A SERIES OF UNDERSTANDING FROM BASIC RULES TO HIGHER MATH RULES. FOR OVER 500 YEARS THERE WERE MANY STRUCTURES OF MATHEMATICS. EACH STRUCTURE HAS DIFFERENT RULES TO FOLLOW. AND THOSE DIFFERENT RULES WILL SURELY CONFUSED YOU. IN ORDER NOT TO CONFUSE, YOU NEED TO REMEMBER OR MEMORIZE THOSE RULES WITH SPECIFIC APPLICATION. DONT GET ME WRONG I JUST WANT TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION

People are good at different things! You may be great at something a person good at math may not be good at. We all lack and exceed at certain activities. Though it sucks we all have to be good at one thing to pass school, Don’t worry, you’ll get through it ^^

There are a lot of reasons that people may seem to have an easier time understanding math a lot better than others. Could come from the approach they take or just the fact they tend to do a lot more math than other people resulting in a brain that slowly becomes much more adjusted towards the subject and the type of thinking necessary for it. It's really as simple as that. If you want to to have an easier time with math, then you need to do it more often but with a few extra things to take into account. The brain works just like any other muscle in your body. When you workout, if you aren't pushing your body and having a hard time then you aren't really getting a proper workout. Same goes for your brain. Focus on the areas you are struggling in. Try to properly understand some of the concepts instead of relying on memorization to carry you. Most importantly though, don't give up just because you think math isn't for you or you just aren't meant to be good at it. Everyone struggles with math in some way or another and I don't think there is one person who can truly say they find math as a whole easy without lying.

I think the people that understand it more are able to apply what they've learned to questions without asking "why?" They're able to understand the math at face value and don't need to understand the meaning behind what it does fundamentally.

It’s not 2 from x. Think of it as what is the value of y or f(x) when x = 2. Then you plug in the 2 anywhere there is an x and solve for y. You can put any number in the x to solve for the y.
