In this lesson, you will learn what a composite function is in math. We will discuss the definition of a composite function being two functions chained or nested inside of one another. We must then evaluate the composite function by evaluating each individual function in sequence, one after the other. In general, the order of evaluating the functions affects the answer so that gof g(f(x)) and fog (f(g(x)) yield different answers. The major exception to this is in the case that f(x) and g(x) are inverse functions of one another. In that case the composite functions give the same answer no matter the order that f(x) and g(x) are evaluated.

I’ve been using you for a few years now. I’m finally into my first college algebra class, where I’m required to take notes on the videos my professor provides. I feel a very distinct difference when watching hers and yours. With her lesson, I memorize rules and copy down what’s on the board. With yours, I actively learn the logic behind the rules and work the problems out before you finish them. It’s amazing, never stop doing what you do. You’re a life saver and a dream maker.

It's almost like too many teachers forget or ignore the difference between memorising a procedure and understanding a procedure.
