Well, it's not a great movie but the dialogue is far superior to Force Awakens or Rise of the Skywalker imo.
@FoxRNG I respect your opinion but I strongly disagree. Tons of the dialogue (sadly) in all sequels consists of silly and unfunny one liners comparable to the likes of Avengers. Abominable in my opinion. Last Jedi unfortunately isn't innocent in this regard.
@FoxRNG I really liked the "stiff" dialogue of episode 2 and 3, regarding Anakin. Imo it's only stiff because Anakin is supposed to have no social experience. Makes it believable and those 2 episodes are very emotional in my opinion. Especially the relationship between Anakin and Obi Wan in Episode 3. The Sequels on the other hand weren't emotional for me, they just felt superficial because no one would talk like that. I mean throwing around one liners without pause, there is no fear when they face antagonists etc. None of the Antagonists feels intimidating, Kylo Ren the least. Snoke in EP 8 and Emperor in EP9 were a tad better but. But nothing compared to a Vader, Count Doku, Maul or Tarkin. The whole dialogue is just so superficial. Especially episode 7. 8 and 9 were a little bit better to be fair. If you like the dialogue of Avengers Endgame and comparable movies then EP7-9 will suit you I guess. But I was disappointed to see the dialogue writing of Star Wars on a level of the Avengers movies.

@FoxRNG they fly now?

Im gonna explain the issue with Luke. The issue is not with Luke being a moody hermit the issue is how he got to that point. Him trying to kill Kylo Ren is just so out of character for the Luke from the original trilogy who tried to see the good in everyone EVEN the most evil man in the galaxy his father who he went back to face because he thought deep down there was still good in him and you expect me to believe he saw some darkness in Kylo so was gonna kill him??? This is an easy mistake to fix though we could still have Luke being a moody hermit but they way he gets here is by trusting Kylo despite seeing the darkness in him and ending up with Kylo betraying his trust making him question his whole entire character and turning him into an untrusting moody hermit because (much like in the original script) he feels responsible. This would not only make sense for his character but could also create an interesting dynamic between him and Ray where she has to work hard and gain his trust. I don't know I'm just a Star Wars fan on the internet not a high earning Hollywood writer
Thank you so much! I always feel like people forget about that part when talking about TLJ

Then in addition to that there’s the part where Luke is projecting himself and fights with Kylo and Kylo says something like “have you come to forgive me? To save my soul?” Sort angrily but not really mocking and Luke replies with “no” with like malice in his voice I just think the old Luke at this point may have at least tried to reason with him instead of condemning his own nephew like this.

“As the hate for the prequels are beginning to fade, the young fans are now becoming older”
I couldn’t have said it better myself. I grew up watching the prequels and I lost my shit when the clone wars tv show came out on Cartoon Network. I still remember putting on my commander Cody mask and watching every single episode when they dropped every Friday. However, I began to realize just how much hate and slander the prequels got from OT fans and that really put me down. I loved the whole plot of the prequels and even more of the clone wars. I personally enjoyed the politics behind it because (1) it always drew me back to rewatch it and better understand it and (2) it went to show you that Star Wars isn’t so black and white, truly spectacular. And now as us prequel fans are older, we too are having are voices heard and no longer the silent minority. I guarantee you in a couple years from now, the same thing is going to happen with sequels fans and I welcome it because Star Wars is meant to capture moments for their first time viewers mostly being at a young age and to that I say, Star Wars kicks ass!
(And yes, I love jar jar because while many of you found him to be annoying, I always enjoyed watching him on screen because he brought amusement and joy into a serious and depressing state the movies would bring at times. I view him as a small glimmer of joy in every troubling scenario. Kind of signaling that despite the bad things going on, everything will be okay.)

@@drawde_064 Well, son, ... First of all, I never said I hated anyone, so let me stop you right there.
People like and dislike different things and everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
There are things I don't like in some Star Wars films as well. I just don't make too big a deal out of it.
I'm not going to say a film is "trash" because of one bad character, I'm not going to harass a filmmaker accusing him of "ruining my childhood" and I'm definitely not going to go on social media and insult or send death threats to an actor who played a character I didn't like.

@@alexbastos6960 I like how you talk about being rude yet you’re the most condescending person I’ve met (“Well, son”, and “Cheers!”)
Nobody has ever said a film is bad because of one bad character. There are a whole platter of reason people hate TLJ and TROS. Neither has any sane person harassed anyone. People have publicly stated their dislike of him and what he did to the franchise, but very few people have gone as far as you make out. Also I refuse to believe a significant number of people sent any actor death threats, as most people say that the characters were wasted and not the actors fault (though Kelly Marie Tran does come to mind as an exemption)
In what way was I being whiny or nit picky? I simply responded to you saying that _you_ shouldn’t call people who’ve expressed a fair dislike for a film whiny or nit picky. I expressed myself in a perfectly civil way.

Idk, the lowest point of the clone wars to me is the episode of r2 and c3p0 getting captured, and I'd say rebels gets lower than that near the start of the show, which is why it's hard to get into. Plus, I strongly believe that what happened to the prequels (becoming more loved over time) will also happen to the sequels.
It will eventually, but I really think the problems with the sequel trilogy were too big for it to properly compare with the prequels. The prequels worked with what they set out to do. The sequel trilogy didn't know what it wanted to do, causing it to fail in much bigger ways. Between the OT and PT, the story and lore are very much consistent, with most of the inconsistencies that did manifest being small or minor, generally speaking. But the sequel trilogy has so many holes it's like swiss cheese. Regardless of if we're considering the directors' tug-of-war between JJ and Rian, fighting against each others' visions for the trilogy. I think it very much reflects the state of modern culture: Divided, impulsive, shallow, and confused.
This is just my humble opinion speaking, but I believe the sequel trilogy is fundamentally of a much lower quality (as a work of art) than either of the previous two trilogies. There are things they did well, like the acting in and of itself, the visuals and VFX, sound design, "cinematic feel", etc. but writing and story consistency are crucial to Star Wars, which is one of the biggest things that was trampled on by Disney. Although this is a flawed analogy, imagine if someone replaced half of the whole-grain flour of a top-quality organic cake recipe with shoddy genetically modified and improperly-milled flour. Yes it's still cake, it'll still taste sweet and all that, but is it still faithful to the traditional recipe enough to be related, or is it a different cake altogether that's just trying to fit in with the better ones?
It's surprisingly reminiscent of what's going on in the comic books industry. Watch Youngrippa59's videos on the topic if you're curious about what I mean. I believe Nerdrotic has also talked about this, but I'm not a frequent viewer of his.

I do agree that The Last Jedi is a great looking movie, and it might be one of if not the best looking Star Wars movies. I also understand the take that it's worth respecting the movie for trying to take everything and do something new. The problem I have with that though is they break a lot of the 'rules' within the universe, and while I know you'd say it's worth disregarding Luke's arc and sending him back, I just can't agree. I don't think The Last Jedi is the worst Star Wars movie, and in a vacuum it's alright. But in the larger story, I think it's too problematic to be in my top 6.
It's not sending Luke back. George Lucas based Luke's story on King Arthur. King Arthur grew up to be a legend just like Luke, but that's not where King Arthur's story. He later did a mistake by getting a son through incest which led to his death. Arthur's actions led to his own downfall, and so did Luke. They both failed and they both payed for that failure.

Luke was never a perfect Jedi and idk what kind of Star Wars you've seen but when flawed Jedi lose the things they tried to protect, they lose hope, they become apathetic and they hide. Which is literally exactly what Luke did in this movie, it's literally the most fitting story arc for a Jedi like Luke, a Jedi who loves, who fears, who feels.

Congratulations you made me laugh. Also ranking Star Wars anything is literally starting your death sentence.

It’s a cycle.
Those that grew up with the Original Trilogy hated the prequels.
Those that grew up with the prequels love the prequels (except me, I prefer the sequels), like the OT and hate the Sequels.
And those that grow up with the sequels will love the sequels, like the OT and the prequels, and hate whatever comes next lol.
I personally like the sequels better than the prequels and some of the originals just because of how ambitious TLJ was. I’m a diehard Star Wars fan but was excited with the promise of taking Star Wars in a new direction.
But at the end of the day we have to remember each trilogy was never intended for the pre-existing Star Wars fans. It’s intended for the next generation. Star Wars can’t remain the most valuable piece of intellectual property if every trilogy targeted the original demographic that grew up in the 70s.
So when we see more Gen Z and Gen Alpha come of age, we’ll see the same resurgence and embrace of the sequels like we are currently seeing with the prequels.

Poor Mandalorian jeez

Personally, A New Hope is my second favorite Star Wars movie. The argument that Luke is over-the-too whiny isn’t very valid, as it’s literally crucial for his character arc. He literally has the potential to be at the top of the galaxy, but he’s confined to a moisture farm with his uncle. He actually has a reason to be so whiny, unlike Anakin from Attack of the Clones, who had been a trained Jedi for nearly 10 years. He had absolutely no excuse. It works in Luke’s character: whininess turns to impatience, and impatience turns to determination. If he had no flaws in A New Hope, he wouldn’t be a compelling character. The only real issue with this movie, in my opinion, was a pacing issue.
I would honestly put Revenge of the Sith in my 5th place (for movies only). Anakin was great in this movie, the acting was on spot, the action scenes were fabulous, and, for the most part, the dialogue was pretty darn good. However, I’ve never bought into Anakin’s turn very much. I thought it felt a bit too forced, and his motivations were a tad too weak for me. The originals had him set up as a Jedi who sought after more power and DISCOVERED the dark side of the force and realized its power. This movie, on the other hand, made him look like a dummy who was duped into rescuing Padme, after Palpatine told him of a power that he never actually got. He never actually witnessed the power of the dark side in this movie, he only heard of it and thought of what could happen. That’s just my take.

@@gbrow1604 yeah somewhere around 15 million an episode which they needed for literally their only thing people tuning on disney+ for

I will never get over the error in choreography and how Luke died from thinking too hard but you pointed out a few things that I can give the movie props for. Great video!
Revenge of the Sith might be my favorite star wars movie too. The Empire strikes back is still really great though. Both of these films are a 10/10 to me.
Bro, empire is a solid 9/10. Revenge of the sith is a 5/10. The dialogue is horrible for revenge of the sith. Anakin is a full character that doesn't really gain any development. General grievous was a filler for a villain in the story. I could go on and on if you what.

It's honestly so crazy how different our perception and opinions can be. Most things you say I agree with especially towards the end, but I truly cannot understand your view on the sequels. Like thinking about them and realizing that that's all we are gonna get for the forever awaited new star wars movies genuinely makes me wanna cry. It's not even that their bad movies, as at first, they can be entertaining and enjoyable. It just in my opinion they are terrible star wars movies. In fact I don't consider them star wars at all. What happens feels so forced in the sequels while in the other movies it just feels like we are seeing what really happened and how the beautiful story unfolded. I honestly really wish i could like the sequels but i just can't. I feel like they ruined the story.
The last jedi definitely is my favourite move of the sequels. Its very different and has some amazing scenes in it!! Even people who hate it cant say anything against that.
Despite everyone’s hatred of the sequel trilogy, including my own, I actually liked force awakens. They started off quite strongly, which of course didn’t carry through to the end of the trilogy. My only issue with the force awakens is that, at least in my opinion, it is probably the most forgettable Star Wars movie for some reason.
I also really like how Luke’s story is really similar to Ezio’s story from assassins creed, both going from an immature, thrill seeking young man, to a wise, enlightened, and arguably deadly Jedi/Assassin at the end of their stories.
I'd say solo or the clone wars movie are the most forgettable

17:06 I completely agree with you for a lot of this but the problem I have with this scene is that it was sped up to look better where as the fight in revenge of the sith final fight was slowed down so that people could see what was happening, my point is the preparation just wasn't Evan close to the other movies (I hope this wasn't too aggressive, I tried to be respectful)
There’s a lot more going on in the Rey + Kylo vs Praetorian Guard fight. There’s like 8 people fighting. When I watch behind the scenes for action films, a lot of large stunts with multiple people fighting are fought at much slower speeds.
So it’s not just this film that does it. It’s pretty standard across Hollywood. That is, unless it’s a complete martial artist like Bruce Lee fighting other martial artists.
The speed of the shot is much like editing a photo. It’s a creative decision to deliver the intended vision of the shot/sequence.
But applying your logic, Christensen and McGregor fighting too fast is also a sign of not being prepared well enough. It’s like someone giving a speech. Giving a speech too fast can be just as bad as giving a speech too slowly.

Personally, I think the Mandalorian is a bit overrated. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show, but I think the show is ultimately pretty predictable and pretty slow. A lot of the times it feels like nothing is really happening and it can make the show boring at times. At the same time though, the last few episodes of season 2 were amazing, and considering that this is only the second season, I fully suspect the show will grow to meet the standard it has been set at.
It’s slow cuz they come out an episode a week and a season a year and yea the filler episodes can be boring they’re way better then clone wars fillers
I watched the first season in one sitting, (I waited for all the episodes to come out) and it did feel pretty boring at times, especially the middle part of season 1. I much preferred the second season, but that might be because I watched the episodes as they came out. I think the shows overrated because the people who didn't like the sequels found Star Wars content they actually enjoyed and they just act like its the best thing ever and hype it up a lot.
@@huddolife4830 I agree with you that the fans that did not enjoy the sequels are praising Mando in response. The show is boring a lot, the dialogue is hit or miss but mostly miss, acting can be cringy, action scenes can be complete nonsense. Then there are moments of great action, great dialogue, great acting, but the time waiting for those moment sticks out too much for me.
That’s the thing. I love the show! But it really is toooooo overrated. The show is overrated because the concept works. A lonely man who found a child. And now this man is like a father to the child. The concept is one of the aspects that matter.
I think it is way too overrated. People don't want to see how bad the scripts usually are and how poor the characters and the plot are written.

IMO Clone wars, ANH and TROS should be higher(also where are cw 2003 and resistance?)

Honestly I think that TROS is the most controversial film. Obviously you and others enjoy the film, whereas I personally, put it in the bottom 5 of this list
@@ahsokatano5866 "and resistance, is resistance..." 😂 Yep, sounds about right
@Ludimeel Sorbo I don't exactly agree with you about TLJ, but I completely 100 percent agree with you about TROS, and I'm glad someone else agrees. And the part about TROS destroying Anakin's arc is so right, & no one else seems to really notice it
@Ludimeel Sorbo WTF are you talking about? It didn't destroy anything. It actually expanded what tlj set up: Kylo and Rey's relationship, the dyad, Kylo's redemption, the resistance sparking the galaxy wide redemption, explaining the hyperspace ram and more. The only thing I see it changed was Rey being a nobody but to tell you the truth the explanation didn't line well with TFA and also it was told by Kylo who was trying to manipulate her. Anakin's arc was him redeeming himself and saving his family. Sure he didn't kill Palpatine but he was still the catalyst for it and on top of that him throwing him on the death star led to the rebellion being saved, the empire falling and gave the galaxy 30 years of peace. Rey literally failed in this movie the most how the hell is she a mary sue?! Because of her Kylo found her and jeopardized the whole mission, Chewie was captured because of her which led to them losing time rescuing him, she got beaten up by Kylo and led Leia to her death because she had to sacrificed herself to save Rey. She literally had one year of jedi training (the same Luke had). Also how the hell is the movie a copy of a new hope?
Ewoks were the best. They provided a sense of comic relief to a very serious movie
I mostly agree with this list, I would just swap force awakens and empire strikes back but I can totally see why you had them right there. Great video revenge of the sith is the best star wars film in my opinion.

Since it came out, I've hesitantly said that Solo is in my top 3 Star Wars movies. I've always agreed with your points such as L3 being annoying and I definitely cringed when they named Han. I think what put it so high on my list was the fact that it "felt like a Star Wars movie", something that the new films haven't been achieving, IMO.
I'd almost say the movie being disposable is what gives me this feeling. It wasn't trying so hard to be meaningful, but instead gave us a damn entertaining and fun Star Wars experience, that for the most part doesn't mess with everything we already know and love.
