  • In 1971, Mexico hosted a World Cup contested by England, Argentina, Italy, France, Denmark and Mexico. The women in this video were part of the team that went out to represent England, the youngest of them being just 13 years old at the time. When they returned from their extraordinary trip, these women were banned from playing football. Want to know more? Watch the story unfold as told by the players themselves.

Here in Denmark they were not banned after that event. BUT their results are still not recognized in the DBU ( = Federation ) system. The first OFFICIAL women´s National football team match was not until 1974 ( vs Sweden I believe ), after the women were "accepted"(!!) into the DBU. I went to school with one of the Danish girls at the time. We were around 16 at that time ( I was born in 1955).

It was U.E.F.A. who ordered The Football Association to lift the Ban in England
