Great to see you out and about in January. Looks a touch cold there. I use the Bikepacker Classic rear panniers with the cap-top and always preferred them. You can stow extra kit under the lid (a bit of shopping, some extra clothing, a damp rain jacket that you don't want in the main bag wetting everything else) though I do this mostly with the front Sportpacker Classics. I have a reverse approach to bag access to you. My rear panniers have a rack bag on top so I hardly open them during the day, except at lunch stops to get the stove and mess-kit out. My frequent access bags are the front ones. I have seen these little fork-bags, and rode with some people using them on a 5 week tour. In general I think the people using them mostly found them frustratingly small and difficult to pack and access. One friend often had hers packed to the point they were sagging away from the fork in an untidy kind of way. I just reckon if you are going to run front bags (a very good idea) you may as well go the whole hog and fit the Sportpackers or Front Rollers. They just act to stabilise your steering and bike handling anyhow. Cheers Dean.
Peter are you using the Sportpacker Classics up front on a 1120? I would rather have those but because of the shape of my forks on the 1120 most racks will not work. If you are using on 1120which rack are you using? Cheers
No, not a Trek. I run my rig on my Thorn Nomad Mk2. Steel, round-bladed forks with a through-mount boss for the Tubus Duo lowrider rack. But I see lots running these small bags on forks which could run a conventional rack and panniers, or be improvised easily enough.
Congrats on hitting 1000! Nikki and I are so stoked for you. No easy feat! and we know the effort it takes to put out content and grow. It's a labor of love for sure. Those bags look sweet. I love the quality of ortliebs products.
Thanks guys!! Yes it is hard work. But it felt great to finally get there. I have no doubt you guys will be there soon. I really like the vibe your channel has. Yes Ortlieb makes great gear! Cheers
Congrats again on this big milestone, Dean. I recognize how much work it takes and there are no shortcuts! Thanks for the first impressions on these bags. I'll look forward to seeing them in use on your upcoming adventures.
Awesome to hear about the subs! I am in the Windsor area also and planning to do a bike run to Wheatley for a camping trip, got any tips? I was curious though how often your doing vids now?
Hello! Thanks for watching. I would take the Chrysler Greenway for most of it. It is a pretty straight forward ride really. I am planning on heading to Wheatley in the spring to do a test ride of the new gear. I am always looking for riding partners if you would like to join me. Right now I will be putting out one video a week. During the touring season I like to do 2-3 a week. I hope you have subscried to the channel, it would be great to have you onboard! Cheers
Congrats on 1,000. It's too bad you lost the video of the stretch in NB near Moncton, where I used to live - I was curious about your experience there. I was out on my own bikepacking trip last summer, a much more modest 700km ride on trails between Ottawa, Kingston, Prince Edward County and Hastings County. I didn't catch the name of the park you said you were in (couldn't make out the name in the audio) - what was it?
p.s. I use the Ortlieb rear rollers and an Ortlieb roll handlebar pack. But I also used a frame pack, which is what I used for day-to-day stuff ... easy zipper access.
Hey thanks! I was in Malden Park small recreation area in Windsor. I have a Ortlieb Frame pack as well, I really like it. I will be touring Ontario this summer with another fellow. Let me know if you are interested in joining us. I will have a route map done soon. Cheers
Everyone make sure to like all the videos to help more people see them. Congrats
Exactly!! Thanks man, much appreciated.
Congratulations Dean 👍

Thanks Agnieszka! Once I get all my bags in place I will do a more in-depth video on how they all work and how I Organize my gear. :)
