We've played Spain in college at the end of our final exam. Our improvisations is the most emotional thing that we did and one of the most emotional thing what I heard ever. I wish to remaster it's recording in studio with our current skills.
How to solo on Lingus by Snarky Puppy

Spain... One of my favorite tunes of all time.
Request Armando's Rhumba. A lot of players have a tough time on that piece
Killer lesson Jeff!
What about "all of my favorite things?" I can never quite get a nice confident improv sound on that song. btw, thank you so much for making this video!!
That's a deceptively simple song! Never can make it sound right.
Often with "my favorite things", the problem is the rhythms instead of the notes. Because its in 3, accents are off compared to the more common 4/4 improv. In terms of notes, pentatonics that fit with each chord work great for me, and it adds color when the pentatonic shifts slightly out of key.
Please do one for Strasbourg st denis

Really great video Jeff. Really well shot, super clear explanations of the harmony and as usual awesome keyboard graphics. (I think maybe there was a typo with the F#7 diminished scale which was a half-whole but said whole-half?) Good stuff. 👍🏻

thanks you so much .!!!!!!!!!!!! the link for the backing track don't work .
thank you ! i need you for maiden voyage by herbie han. please ;)
Hey Jeff, I always enjoy your content, glad to see this "how to solo", as I tend to struggle a little bit in these harmonic minor scales bits. The F#7 right after the Gmaj7 sounds a bit weird, but it works fine I guess, but would you use the B harmonic minor or the Gm(maj7)add9 arpeggio over this chord instead? That makes sense, right?
A minor major seven add 9 chord is just called minor major 9
Thanks Jeff, how about Fee Fi Fo Fum,Wayne Shorter
I find some bossa-nova progressions quite tricky to solo on. How about Wave/Voi te contar?

How about a bebop tune from Bird?
Would love to see how to play over Motet by The Yellowjackets
Do you have one on Donna Lee?
Jazz Crimes by Joshua Redman? The harmony is more static in the solos. I'm curious how you would approach it.
I have a question about using the Half-Whole Diminished scale on Spain. It seems like a lot of the notes you recommend are just the H/W Dim scale skipping a couple of notes. Is it just to simplify it down? Or is it actually a different sound since you miss some of the half steps and it keeps it more open?
Hello Jeff - I loved the video - but I cannot reach the backing track (err 404) - please help!
Hi- I just found this video. I . Love it but I couldn’t get the track- I clicked on the link and there was an error.
How to solo on blue bossa!!! 💙
How about doing everything in D major except for the C#7 altered (D melodic minor) and the B7 (HTWT)? On the F#7 after the initial G major I put in an extra a# to the F# phrygian. That's possible because of the minor major ambiguity of the 3rd mode (in this case D major, the 3rd mode is F# phrygian).
You can't solo on Spain because they keep closing jazz clubs... sobs :_(
I tried to download the backing track for Spain but it no longer exists. Can you share that link again please
