One thing I will say is that the parallels between the three seasons and the meta-layers of this show in general are incomparable! The writing is out of this world!!! 💜 #youngroyalsforever
Someone else might come and explain it in more detail in the comments. But Swedish people have explained to me that they call Simon a socialist in the show because the working class usually vote for the socialist party in Sweden, or something along those lines..... It's like a stereotype over there. So August is essentially just calling him poor. It's a classist insult. There's quite a bit of classism exploration in this show. It doesn't do a super deep dive into it... but it's THERE, for sure.
Yeah, from my understanding it’s a pretty neutral word for the working and middle classes, as it’s just literally true. Most of them vote Social Democrat. But “sosse” is a serious insult among the nobility and the upper class.
@@queerlyvictorian that's interesting! I'm not even interested in my own country's politics so I know pretty much nothing about Sweden's other than tiny bits of information that Swedish people have told me about. That potentially might be why Simon pretty much never had an overtly negative reaction to being called that... Because he always grew up with it being a relatively neutral term but August was absolutely attempting to use it as an insult.
@@AnxietyRat Yeah, that made a lot more sense to me after I learned that. Now I find any attempt by an elitist on the show to use "sosse" as an insult absolutely hilarious
It is high school with teens around 15-18 years. Prince Wilhelm and Simon is in the first grade and are around 16 year. Edvin, the actor who plays Wilhelm was 17 years old when was shooting this season. Omar that plays Simon is a bit older. He is 5 years older than Edvin, I think. Edvin had then been acting for 10 years. Started at 8 years. Omar is a singer since long time, and this is his first acting job.
This serie is CRAZY, they talk swedish, spanish and english at the same time. Ps.: the actors did the english dubbing, because some of them speak english and swedish
Someone commented below that the writing is so good. They are so correct! The spit may seem to be unnecessarily gross but trust me, as with all the other seemingly insignificant things in this series, as Lisa (Lisa Ambjörn creator and head writer) has said, "Everything in the script is there for a reason."
One thing you probably don't pick up on is the fact that Felice's roommate, Madison, only speaks English, despite fully understanding Swedish. She has a New York Accent. Simon and Sara's mother mostly speaks Spanish.
I only discovered Young Royals a few weeks ago & I was completely hooked from episode 1 when Wilhelm broke the 4th wall. I ended up watching all 3 series in less than 48 hours & I didn't want the show to end. The 2 main actors are so gifted & the other cast members were great too. Great show! 💞
I got into the show pretty quickly because it reminded me of the UK show Skins (which I was obsessed with in high school). Its very angsty, which I liked very much. I instantly wanted to protect Simon at all costs. I was pretty frustrated with his naivety with his deals with August. He should've hidden the booze before demanding the money. Then the same mistake with the drugs?! Bruh 😕
Im not kidding I literally SCREAMED when you said on the community tab you were gonna react and i screamed even louder WHEN YOU POSTED!!!! The music is just amazing in this show, get some tissues when you're getting to the end, but YOU NEED TISSUES for S2 and 100% S3 The cliffhanger at episode 1, has me thinking the whole next episode: WHAT HAPPENED!??!?! The initation grossed me out too- This was so awesome watching you react, can't wait for the next ones, love you!!!!
in megami’s lipsync vs mhiya you might’ve missed her using her fingers to create a split which was to predict mhiya’s incoming split. such a genius move and i think that definitely gave her the boost over mhiya
Yeah, I was definitely in the camp of "Meh the show is okay... I guess I'll keep watching it" rather than... Being super hooked, at this point in the show. It does eventually hook you but yeah I personally wasn't QUITE hooked yet by ep 2.
So glad you are reacting to this series! If someone was to ask me to describe Young Royals, I would literally say it’s the child of Red, White & Royal Blue and Heartstopper. 🧑🏻🦱🧑🏻🦰👑🇸🇪🏳️🌈🩷💜💙
@@lisaistryingtolive that’s why it would be the child, because it’s more evolved. Just like an actual child, it’s an evolution of its biological parents.
so glad to see you reacting to this series! :] it's one of my favourite all-time series.. for a scandi series, it is out of this world! cant wait see your future reactions! :]
Yess so glad you are doing Young Royals!! My second favorite show with Heartstopper!! Can wait for your reactions/ YR journey, get ready the whole thing is a wild ride
I don't think the word fuck comes from swedish. It's just that... The youth use the English word these days. I'm like 98% positive there is an actual word for fuck in swedish. Lol. There's one in Norwegian, anyway. I watch more Norwegian shows than Swedish ones.
@@AphroditesDaughterRose yeah, I knew it wasn't an OG English word, for sure. We steal SO many words from other languages! Lmao. English is just my only language. And I didn't know the exact etymology of the word. German makes sense tho. 100%
Yea there is an actual Swedish word that is approx the curse version of that and also one that’s the literal version of the word. It’s just very common to use “fuck” bc of crossover from popular culture
I’ll just say that you may need some tissues for episode 3.. that’s when it starts to get pretty sad, and it honestly just gets worse and worse from there.
Wilhelm's panic attack is literally gay panic lmao
I feel awful for laughing at this but lmaooooo ☠️
Proper full-on gay crisis .
@@Justarandomgirlontheinternet51legendary
They use a lot of English words throughout the series. Swedish ppl have a good grasp of the English language. Plus the actors do their own subs
It's actually not a gay panic. You will note throughout the season that he has severe anxiety.
Trust me when I tell you, THIS SHOW WILL TAKE OVER YOUR LIFE!!
Writing- A++
Acting- A++
Soundtrack- A++++++++
💯

The cliffhangers in this show are killer! You never want the episode to end where it does!
I fully agree- the actor of Simon (Omar Rudberg) is absolutely stunning

YES!!! FINALLY. I'm so happy that you are finally reacting to this. 😃❤️
Tissues for well I’d say always have them on hand bc this show is an emotional roller coaster but ESPECIALLY the end of season 3
There are dramas and ups and downs in episode 3-5. But I think you have to prepare extra strength for episode 6. 😭
The ending of episode 6 destroyed us all 😭 and then continued through season two. This show!!
LOVE this reaction !! 🙌🙌👌
YR really doesn’t disappoint with all the ASMR kissing and breathing 😍🫠

Can you watched the english dubbed version instead?
Spoiler alert August only gets worse
He gets worse then better… it kinda depends the timing. I am a August defender through and through so.
