My Father passed away on December the 7th 2017 aged 83 , leaving behind him a Wife of 60 years and 3 Children . He was present at their 60th Wedding Anniversary of that year , I turned 60 in February 2019 , he wasn't there Physically to Celebrate my Birthday , but he was and is in our Hearts Soul and Minds. Bug I'm glad that he was Present at his Diamond Wedding Anniversary,. At his Cremation with the Union Jack draped on his coffin , as he was Ex Millitary Retired Major Royal Engineers. We mourn his passing but , we can't bring him back . He wouldn't want Family and Friends to mourn his passing but to Celebrate his life. Morning has broken for us everyday for us , bug for our departed loved ones I believe everyday in Heaven is Morning . Love you Dad miss you lots we'll be together again for eternity one day .

I woke up with this song in my head this morning...can't explain why. Haven't heard it in years. Had 2 come listen to it.
My Dad died about 4am in 1975. He was a musician and loved this music. I drove to my Mother's home and when I was within a few miles, the sun can up...morning had broken. I was listening to the car radio that played music of the day and Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens played on the radio. I have always associated this song with my Dad's passing and the timing of the whole thing. I just could not shake the irony of it all. I am Catholic and this song is in our Catholic hymnal and it is sung frequently. I think many people have a special place in their heart for this song. Cat Stevens was so talented and I love all of his music.
Same here. Last week. We where driving home from hospital when they played this song on the radio. A stupid fall in the evening, worst morning of my life.
We'll never see the sunrise at the beach ever again.

When I was in the US Air Force in Basic training 1975 The first Chapel service I attended on Sunday morning, they sang this song - it was the first time I heard this song.
"Morning Has Broken" is a Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and was inspired by the village of Alfriston in East Sussex, then set to a traditional Scottish Gaelic tune, "Bunessan"[1] It is often sung in children's services and in funeral services.[2]
English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens due to the popularity of this recording. It reached number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number one on the U.S. easy listening chart in 1972,[3] and number four on the Canadian RPM Magazine charts.

It was disappointing to see that Cat Stevens (now a Muslim, who calls himself Yusuf) did not give credit where credit was due on his album cover. Rather he chose to mislead us by indicating that it was him who was responsible for this song.

@@michaelserby7697 I just checked the album cover, the one from 1970, and discovered that "Morning Has Broken" was not included on that recording. My claim that Yusuf did not give credit where it was due is not correct. Mea culpa!
Still an awesome song to this day,love it.
My mom recorded this song for us before she passed away. The only way I can hear her voice is by listening to her singing this lovely music.

I have been Listening to Cat Stevens's Music since I was in the Service . Now as a private IndividuaL I aLways choose to Listen to Cat's Music = HIS LYRICS OFTEN TOUCH MY HEART that sometimes Tears roLL down my Cheeks . As an Ex Serviceman , I used to think that WE GIs JUST DON'T CRY but wrong Impression as I do cry when I Listen to some of his PIECES as it reminded me of Home with my Parents . Now I am a Father myseLf with two good Looking Kids & I just cannot stop Listening to Cat's Music . God bLess Cat Stevens with his wonderfuL & touching Music .
I suffer from PTSD, and when it's all shit and there,s no hiding , I listen to music, before long I'm singing along and I have strength to face you again. Not so much this song , but on occasion sure. Music is man's greatest achievement bar none. Don't let them fool you. It makes all equal. Believe in us and yourself. That's reality

My very first knowing of Yusuf Islam. I had such a miserable childhood that this song simply made me cry my eyes tropical monsoon. Yusuf sings with such incredible human integrity you cannot fail to be moved by such sincere harmony.
