Freddie Mercury - CRAZY TOUR VOCAL RANGE (D3-F#6)

- This video is part of a series that I started a couple of months ago here on my channel. I made this same kind of video also for the works and magic tour so, if you haven't already, check them out!
The Crazy tour has been described by many fans as Queen's best tour, but I really don't think so. This tour is good just for the vocals, all the rest is pretty average for Queen's standards: I don't like the setlists, the band messes up quite often, the venues were very small and there are very few recordings of the shows.
In this video I'm showing you Freddie Mercury's vocal range in the Crazy tour that goes from a D3 to an F#6. This one is definitely not the tour where Freddie had the widest range, but it's surely the one where he was the most consistent since he gave every night outstanding vocal performances, from the start to the end of the show.
Talking about the video, I don't think it came out very well but I hope you can still enjoy it.
TIMESTAMPS:
0:19 Lowest note (D3)
0:35 Chest voice high notes (A4 - C#5)
5:32 Whistle register high notes (D6 - F#6)
6:16 Results
#Queen #FreddieMercury
As you saw, I cut very short on the low notes. I tried so hard to find some lower notes, but I couldn't.
If you know a performance where Freddie sings lower than a D3 (of course in the crazy tour) let me know that I'll edit and reupload the video.
You don't really ever see a lot of low notes from Freddie, and some people he is a baritone. He would definitely be singing a lot more lower notes if he was a baritone.
I think his voice got more "baritonish" in the later years (1984/88). Anyways, in the crazy tour, he was definitely a tenor.
@@rickysld He was baritone man
@@thepacmanface3815 I think the general consensus now is that he's a tenor just a lower tenor
@@thepacmanface3815 Listen to Freddie's Ibex performances, he's definitely a natural tenor.
I was at Alexandra Palace in 1977 when the Crazy tour blew my ears away. He was amazing. Save me was the new single and my late friend and I enjoyed the best concert of our lives. I wish there was more footage of that concert anyone?
Newcastle 1st night come through is so beautiful
My favorite "come through"
2:52 One of my favorite ones. He doesn't go down like Glasgow 12/1 and Newcastle 12/4. This is also the best show in my opinion ever.
I think the "carry on carry on" must be one of the most satysfying things ive ever heard
Yeah! Freddie at his best shape.
Wow the ease on low tenor register is just amazing
I really like the transition from the intro to live. Great video! Crazy Tour Freddie rocks!
Sorry if the text in the top left corner at 1:57 and 2:22 is fucked up, I didn't realise it until now.
Oh, and I also made 4:45 a bit too loud, it scared tf out of me the 1st time I heard it, I had headphones at max volume
OMG.. the way you find all those hidden gems and compare them is astounding. Great job mate 👍
My favorite tour was the crazy tour, it's the only tour where they could properly sing don't stop me now
2:57 this is the best version would you agree?
Yes, definitely. The run he does is the best one out of the three.
For me 1st Newcastle this is just second
Literally chills
1:10 same as the live aid
i literally closed my eyes and thought it was fred from live aid

I LOVED QUEEN FOREVER THE BEST AND I STILL LOVE YOU MY FAVOURITE FREDDIE MERCURY ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
BEAUTIFUL VOICE BEAUTIFUL EVERYTING- FOREVER IN MY HEART ♥️
THANK YOU ☆☆☆☆
His lowest voice is my highest voice
Hahah I can relate
You're probs a baritone my guu
@@JordySchunk more like bass. D3 is way too low for a highest note.
@@kilgore1863 it was most likely an exaggeration
@@aahmad. i’m aware of that, just makin conversation ig
Excellent work! This properly took some time to put together. I think a vocal range of the Magic tour might also be interesting.
Zenobia there's already of that on Riccardo's channel you should watch it it's pretty good
@@sub-ne8qv Thanks! Luckily I checked his channel and saw it afterwards.
@@ZENOBlAmusic no problem have a nice day

Ok Ricardo .... you caught me hook, line, & sinker!!! Subscribed!! Do you think Freddie even knew how special his voice was? I mean Freddie didn’t think he was a good piano player either but I beg to differ!! Great job on the video!!
He definitely knew he had a good voice! He was pretty egocentric, you know..
Muy interesante este tema la verdad che
@@rickysld cuando un rango vocal de london de 1979 te ayudo con la nota más alta xd
A nice surprise to listen to after just finishing my school day.
ikr lol
Your videos are impressive! Good work! Keep on producing!
Right now I have very little time to work on new videos because of shool, but when I'll have the time I'll upload a new video.
@@rickysld And I will watch it 😊

Vocally
Newcastle 12/3
Newcastle 12/4
Liverpool
Glasgow
Hammy
Musically
Liverpool
Hammy
Newcastle 12/3
Glasgow
Newcastle 12/4
I think Glasgow is higher than Liverpool vocally and Also that Hammy is the best Instrumental show
I think Newcastle 12/3 better musicianship than Hammy, Newcastle 12/3 doesn't have any mistakes from Brian, Hammy Brian messes up on songs like Save Me, Spread Your Wings, only mistakes in Newcastle 12/3 is like John bass flub in Save Me
Фредди охриненен
No idea what that means
@@rickysld sorry I said,, Freddie is the best''. I am Russian😁
2:24 he goes sharp on an A4 and corrects himself during the sustain. The second one is just an A4. Never sings a Bb4 there
Apparently this was already pointed out in the comments
Yeah, I got some notes wrong... 🤷♂️
Honestly that D6 and F6 are more or less yelps.
But a great Video & Honestly my favorite tour(in terms of vocals)
Just discovered your channel. And I love it ! You've got a new subscriber👍🏻😉
Very enjoyable, thanks.
how the best
1st Newcastle is the only show that doesn't have Bb4 phrasing in "Now I'm gone and thrown it all away"
4:49 that's a D5
Although not the best tour overall but I love it!
In terms of Freddie's vocals, this tour was his prime
vocally this tour is the best but that is not enough to make it the best of the band
The style of the clothes, how they play and the decoration of the stages is disastrous this tour
Yeah, works and crazy tour are like the opposite:
- Crazy tour: Average looking stage, boring clothes, average lighting rig, but incredible vocals.
- Works tour: Best looking stage, best stage costumes, best looking lighting rig, but very bad vocals and band
@@rickysld Exactly in my opinion the Magic tour was the one that had the best stage and clothing design but you are right in what you say the works had bad vocals but nothing surpasses jazz
I love the clothes
@@rickysld yeah costumes are boring but i think this is the hottest Freddie tour🤷🏼♂️
Which tour do you like the most?
The magic tour: Great vocals, good setlist and amazing bootleg quality
Crazy tour is considered one best tour ever, magic tour is the 2nd
@@thiagoromero6816 Perdón, no cuenta, en realidad el rango vocal correcto sería F2 - E5
2:25 that's an A4
True. I saw that note being called a Bb4 in a comment and I didn't check... my bad
@@rickysld oh yeah lmfao it's fine, i love these types of videos by the way so i think it's really cool you're doing this
So, the tour was literally c r a z y
How can it be thst his chest voice is sn octave and 1973 was 2?
4:02 That is a C5 though?
G4
@@dylanrinker6831 He meant 4:01. That's a slightly sharp B4, not quite a C5.
Wasn’t crazy little thing called love in the game album but there’s also the game tour so why the separate tour?
Crazy little thing called love was released in 1979 and this tour was done to promote it (that's why it's called "crazy" tour). Since it became a hit, they kept that song in the setlist.
Wow they did a whole tour cause one song that’s cool and it’s one of my favorites
@@alexsentertainmentplace809 it’s also because Queen didn’t play the UK at all during the Jazz tour, so it was kind of making up for that.
Nice yeah I say it’s Freddie’s best tour, but the band are so sloppy for like no reason and even Freddie’s piano playing isn’t great which is weird cause he was always great, this also might be Brian’s worst tour, Johns and Rogers lmao, definitely not the best tour, but Freddie vocally wise yes.
Yes, that's what I also think. The only good thing in this tour is Freddie's voice.
Vincent Vasquez yep exactly same thought!
You read my mind buddy
Maybe not the worst musical tour because they still have a slight Jazz tour edge in that regard, but it’s one of their sloppiest tours.
But Liverpool and Hammy is great imo
on that tour he does an F7 xd
Could you also make these videos with Roger Taylor and Brian May?
It would be very hard because they didn't sing as much, especially brian
@@rickysld But, at least Roger and Brian have live videos added to their Queen career and their solo career
Yeah, ik, but I'm not into them. I'm not the right person to do this.
@@rickysld OK I understand. In addition, great work to collect great vocals and make video about his voice!
All the whistle are head voice
F#6? Entonces su máxima nota no era F6
No, I know that Simon's video says that his highest note is an F6, but it's actually an F#6.
El video de rango vocal de Freddie esta descatualizado en esa época no existía Liverpool 1979 ;)
@@rickysld If I took it out of him but the truth is, his highest grade is D7 here the video ruclips.net/video/RupqATxddYM/видео.html
