Just came out of the shop for lunch and this vid was up, watched to the end and would say if "they" are talking about you they are actually helping get your name out there...I will say I had saws boxed in the shop for a long time, just not interested in fixing them. Hey John i found you through Guilty of Treeson. Ive been looking for some good porting channels . Not sure how i never saw any of your videos but i been watching as many as time allows. You do some of the best porting work ive ever seen. I actually just did a 461 and used a few of your tricks. It turned out amazing so thanx for going into such detail. Oh and i was almost crying during your hater vid. Well done. 👍
Thanks my friend... dont tell anyone but im purposely being a cocky punk so I can flush out the guys that are here to argue and talk shit 😉 i think I pretty much got the worst of em blocked 😂 im glad you like the content and it is the highlight of my day when I hear tge video helped you... thats fantastic brother 👊
I am in the same exact boat… I’ve been “serious” about my building and porting for the past 12-13 years… and I absolutely love how Treeson is cruising around the country with the kids and working with other guys and shooting the adventure!!! And I stumbled on to the John videos!!! When you’re as much artist as mechanic you’re freaking good!!! Attention to detail!!! A++ stuff… I rebuilt the big Husqvarna chopsaw that has the big feed ports coming up from the bottom and was wishing I had a saw with that design to port up… I found a Husqvarna 576… and that kinda threw me into a ms391…. That’s lead to a 372xtorq… as I usually just immediately took them back to OE. And actually the 371xp single ring 50mm or the popup 52mm Hyway… I see my cylinder design and John is porting it… talking about the Stihl 461… I’ve had friends who were fantastic with the 461… over the 044/046…460… Mike say’s 461 over a 462… I’d never seen inside one… well by golly I have now and I’ll be getting myself one for the fleet!!! I saw him pull out the box and open a new saw and port it and I was thinking this is great… later in the video he explained that those were fire service units that were shipped in… he doesn’t sell 461’s… so I’m going to need to check around. Bark box… little muffler flap… max flow…? I need to find out the cost…your rate for this Jonny Rotten Ripper 461 conversion saw project is??? I’m sending the saw… do I send you a max flow and other do-dad’s or just send the saw you have those other parts in inventory at your shop? Last conversation with my buddy…says the 461 is a lighter saw then my 372’s…. I need a lighter 28” bar… what’s the right bar for the project??? Yeah Dave… this is just good stuff…both channels are killing it!!!
Well I don't know my rear end from the Grand Canyon, but I find what you do real interesting. Plus love running modded saws, I own a tree service in N.W. Iowa.

Hi John new to the channel and loving it. So u said on another video if I'm not mistaken that u don't port milling saws and I was just wondering why that is? I'm thinking maybe because the pistons rings might get to hot from running wide open for so long milling but I'd like to hear your reasoning. I'm no saw expert by the way
Hey brother when you've made it so big that you got all kinds of haters that's means you're doing it right keep your head up and they'll fade into the past
I’m not a saw builder. I would like to be. But you’re right STIHL likes there cylinders made to there specs. I also found that STIHL cylinders are better.
I can't find red beards under the cover air filter could you please send me a link or a part number. Thank you in advance also for the felling 3 point and the roller chain
You are killing me, , , first you show Big Black Chainsaw, , ,and say that's what BBC stands for, , , ,then a Big black Chicken ,, , now Big Black Caliper. .. . I better look it up. (along with 'dirty intake') Thanks for the video.
No idea about what group you're talking about. And hearing you speak of them, that is okay with me. Keep doing what you're doing. That's the best way too tell them "f you!" 👍🏻

@@playingwivwood thanks bud... definitely steal my nitrous method... I even put up a video showing the kit I use... just dont buy the sigma6 kit they are junk
Forums always end up the same way. There's always about half a dozen guys that form a click and it seems impossible to have a conversation. Further to that the guys who know what they are doing stand back and you are left with all the misinformation. My saws don't look anything like the photos they put up and they actually make good usable power. It took a long time to work out how to make these things go. Shit I'm still tweaking on them. My latest thing is using a CNC to remachine the combustion chamber and that has squeezed another 5% out of them and they they run super smooth. It goes on and on.
Sometimes having OCD is a little plus!!! LMFFAO! You are doing really good work!!! I was doing jewelry making for about 20 years before I started messing with saw’s so it was pretty easy for me to knock out a port! You have nice hand eye coordination and your technique and results are great… you do whatever you feel the best with… there is no right way… it’s what you feel the most comfortable with!!! LMFFAO!!!! I can actually see what I’m doing when I’m welding!!!! You’re funny man!!!
Quick question John what would you recommend for a work saw ? I'm looking at having some work done on my 066 and my 036 they are both stock and after running some saws that have been worked on and upgraded I know what how much better they are but not sure where to start thanks
I know a couple guys that would probably take them on for you... I know a lot of guys that build saws but for those particular saws I would say Robin at Trple S Performance... you have probably never heard of him but he does top quality work otherwise I wouldn't recommend him... you have Instagram,?:
i will do it today probably ...lotta interest in that one... its going to be super simple tho... basically use a ball vise off ebay and make a mount lol
You make some good and helpful and informative videos and I appreciate that. But I think you could make them a lot better if you just talked about the builds and show them rather then spend soooo much time taking about the haters and who said what about who. Who cares! Just do you and get on with it
Hey very cool to get your thought on the red beard filters...discovered both of you guys throughout Jacobs yt! Just ordered some of his filters for my 390xp curious to see the difference!? Keep it up!😎👍 Greetings from Germany
I like your work man. You haven’t arrived until someone hates you. They crucified Christ, He’s got a couple followers:). I’d just like to talk you in to building one of those 461s for me:) I drive by occasionally on my way to North Dakota:) keep up the good work!
You lost me at the end of this one man. A saw porting mob? WTH? Lol anywho man your better off not giving them any recognition at all, you get all ruffled up and put it out to the public to see, the people that are doing this feed off the reaction you just have them. I’m very interested in all the theory that goes into performance engines but ain’t a bit interested in people’s bullshit. The free camera gear.....now that’s freaking awesome! You did something SELFLESS and some one else did something selfless for you. People like to hear about that stuff but everybody has bs in their life and when I’m watching you thats my break from bs and don’t wanna get wrapped up in yours. Sorry.....it’s the same reason I can’t watch the news. But for some topic suggestions......What is the purpose and reasoning behind stratification? And is there anyways to mess with ignition timing on saws? For car guys ignition timing is just as important as valve timing, which I relate to your port timing. But ignition timing can really help build cyl pressure. Which is really all we are after in the end. So really what I’m curious about is, on stock saws if they have one ,set ignition curve if you can run ethanol free 89 octane with out detonation shouldn’t your stock saw make power? Probably ruffled some feathers with that but it’s ok lol. To most people ignition may seem straight forward but it can get complex, I’d be interested in a video about it.
Well John, I'll tell you this, if you ever think for one minute, about having a video without your dog snoring in the background, I will unsubscribe, zero hesitation. I always have to pause the video to see if it's my dogs, or your snoring. Lol
Haha... Im so used to it o don't even hear it... she is my shadow... she was abused bad and took a long time for her to even be around people... come a long way now but she's a giant baby needs to be in the same room as me or she panics 🤦♂️
I am confident and don't let people that never built a saw tell me they know better... I think thats different... I have worked on em for over 20 so im not new to the game but I still have a lot to learn... It may come off cocky but I am here to share what I have learned and I don't want anyone getting the wrong information... some of these guys sound legit and can convince people to agree but they aren't experienced... if you disagree with something I say I would hear you out... but there is some bullshit in this business and I am going to address it sorry if you are offended

and I was just wondering why that is? I'm thinking maybe because the pistons rings might get to hot from running wide open for so long milling but I'd like to hear your reasoning. I'm no saw expert by the way
No time for haters, keep up the vid's
Hey brother when you've made it so big that you got all kinds of haters that's means you're doing it right keep your head up and they'll fade into the past
Awesome job buddy
Loving the love 👊
I’m not a saw builder. I would like to be. But you’re right STIHL likes there cylinders made to there specs. I also found that STIHL cylinders are better.
Another great video on my favorite almost saw ( jonsered 2171) any way u can do a timing and squish vid???
I can't find red beards under the cover air filter could you please send me a link or a part number. Thank you in advance also for the felling 3 point and the roller chain
Whole different level of respect for you now man keep up the good fight... how can i contact you about a saw
I couldn't see the exhaust port could you get a little closer?
Yeah... let me straight up violate that thing
I need a saw vise😎
You are killing me, , , first you show Big Black Chainsaw, , ,and say that's what BBC stands for, , , ,then a Big black Chicken ,, , now Big Black Caliper. .. . I better look it up. (along with 'dirty intake') Thanks for the video.
Love your sense of humour ....LOL
No idea about what group you're talking about. And hearing you speak of them, that is okay with me. Keep doing what you're doing. That's the best way too tell them "f you!" 👍🏻
Its crazy man... they think you need permission to go into business fir yourself
Ive built a couple a its all about how you perfer doing things
Love it absolutely love it dont let any of these jealous wise asses get you down you know what you know and you dont have to be posting videos but you choose to and were lucky you are if people feel otherways they can watch something else its as easy as that
Oh yeah and im totally stealing your nitrous setup idea 😂 looks like fun
@@playingwivwood thanks bud... definitely steal my nitrous method... I even put up a video showing the kit I use... just dont buy the sigma6 kit they are junk
@@johnscustomsaws thanks kind sir
Sounds like mastermind guys . Those dweebs try to gate keep and put down everyone .
So where do get your flip oil and gas caps from
Great video. Been wanting to port a x torq for a while now. Not much harder then the regular xp i see
Sometimes having OCD is a little plus!!!
Oh I bet you can make a damn nice looking port coming from polishing diamonds and rubies lol... not as much money in saws tho I imagine 🤦♂️
could you please do a video on how to wake these xtorques up for folks like me, love your channel ❤ the x torques are caca stock lol
To hell with the haters
Quick question John what would you recommend for a work saw ? I'm looking at having some work done on my 066 and my 036 they are both stock and after running some saws that have been worked on and upgraded I know what how much better they are but not sure where to start thanks
I know a couple guys that would probably take them on for you... I know a lot of guys that build saws but for those particular saws I would say Robin at Trple S Performance... you have probably never heard of him but he does top quality work otherwise I wouldn't recommend him... you have Instagram,?:
@@johnscustomsaws yes I do
So when we seeing vise build.
i will do it today probably ...lotta interest in that one... its going to be super simple tho... basically use a ball vise off ebay and make a mount lol
Better make sure your supervisor on duty so she make sure you get the right parts.
Your word and reputation is all you here! Just do your best and stop listening or allowing what someone else says…. To affect you in any way!
👍
are you familiar with the husky 2100, was the go to bad ass saw in my early days in the woods. came with a carpal tunnel guarantee
been randomly binging so missed the haters so far. fuck em.
Keep it up!😎👍
Greetings from Germany
They are way better than the stock filters thats for sure... just have to pull them obviously
@@johnscustomsaws thx man!... yea I’m on an airfilter upgrade mission also just got a maxflow for my 660 in the mail today!🤣😎👍
Awesome!
I like your work man. You haven’t arrived until someone hates you. They crucified Christ, He’s got a couple followers:). I’d just like to talk you in to building one of those 461s for me:) I drive by occasionally on my way to North Dakota:) keep up the good work!
Love your work. I can tell you know what you're doing . It's obvious to me .
Trees-R-Us
Do you need 387. Hate will hate it okay do you need a hug bro. Lol
your speending to much time on the haters- STAY CALM AND SAW ON !
John, I LOVE this channel, but I HATE that frozen sh!t. Keep it up there. Please.
Me too brother... I ain't built for winter
😂😂😂
Well John, I'll tell you this, if you ever think for one minute, about having a video without your dog snoring in the background, I will unsubscribe, zero hesitation. I always have to pause the video to see if it's my dogs, or your snoring. Lol
Haha... Im so used to it o don't even hear it... she is my shadow... she was abused bad and took a long time for her to even be around people... come a long way now but she's a giant baby needs to be in the same room as me or she panics 🤦♂️
Do you sell chainsaws
Don't get a big head.I have worked on saws 40 years.
Great video fantastic work again. Wish I knew what you were referring to there. I’m just a guy in a garage. !!!🧬❤️🔥☀️🦾
