saw this at the fliks.........the place went mental ...... came out knackered and soaked with sweat, but with the biggest smile for a long time......happy days
What a time ... :) watching this inspired me to go out and buy a Fred Perry polo, polish the Docs and update my ipod with tunes I had almost forgotten ... I know now that ska is timeless. thanx OP :)
I was 11......... Went to the pictures to watch and ended up in the middle of a Mod/Rude boy/Skinhead barney........... Chairs were flying and the film got banned from playing in the town............. Happy days........ LOL
. early 80s. lots of unemployment "there's no work to do" lots of racism and social unrest. Skinheads loved this but couldn't cope with loving music originating from Jamaica and this band having black members so referred to this band as the Specials plus two. So you can dance to this music but if you had seen band members you might have kicked their heads in. "If you have a racist friend....." The Specials weren't scared to have a crack at the establishment - Ghost Town - our manufacturing industry was dying. Terry Hall went on to form the Fun Boy Three and then special AKA (if I remember rightly) and they did "Free Nelson Mandela". Singers/musicians/writers weren't afraid to get political and we loved it.
Really miss that era of music and shows...
