- Have you accidentally deleted a text message on your iPhone and want to recover it? Watch this video to learn 2 ways to restore deleted messages on iPhone.

To recover recently deleted text messages on iPhone:
1. Open the Messages app and tap Edit.
2. Select Show Recently Deleted.
3. Tap the conversation you want to restore to select it. Then tap Recover at the bottom. Tap Recover again to confirm.
4. That conversation will then be restored to your list of messages.
To restore deleted messages on iPhone from a saved backup:
1. Reset all settings and data on your iPhone.
2. Set up your device as new.
3. When given the option to restore a backup, select the backup option you used.
4. Select and restore the saved backup containing the message you want to recover.
5. Wait for your backup to load, then check your Messages app to find your recovered messages.

But what if you don’t see Recently Deleted in Edit ? Am I to assume that this feature only works from a certain iPhone model & upwards? Although I’m sure you would’ve said that, probably at the beginning if that was the case , so not to sure what to do now🤷🏻♂️☹️
Same issue I have! No “recently deleted” option on screen after tapping Edit! Is there a step missing?
Deleted text just moments ago and cannot find this option after opening “Edit”
For those with iphone 13 there is no "edit" instead go to your list of messages.. on top left there is "Filters" press on it then select scroll down to "Recently Deleted" press, then you see all that you have recently deleted....you have the option of permanently deleting them or recovering them. Your welcome.

If you have an “ edit “ button, hold that edit and it’ll show extra option like “ recently deleted “ hope this helps !
I don’t have edit on my last message. And some messages have been deleted on that last message. I don’t even have an arrow to go back. What do I do to see all messages and deleted 0:00

Messages in recently deleted will be long gone, but if you have a saved backup from that time where the message was still on your device, you may be able to restore it.

I cannot see Recently Deleted in Edit? Now what to do?
This is my question too. The menu only offers “Select Messages”. “Edit Pins” and “Edit Name and Photo”.
As I was writing the text, I somehow deleted it. Can I get it back?
If that happens you can try using the "shake to undo" function. Shake your iPhone and tap the Undo option that pops up. Unfortunately this can only be done right away, but if it ever happens again give that a try!

If I get a new phone will all of my recently deleted be there so I don’t have to reset my iPhone
If you back up your data and then transfer it to your new device, all your messages including recently deleted will still be there.
Will I lose everything if I do this
You will be reverting back to an old backup. You can back up your device as it stands currently before resetting, and you can always switch back to the newer backup instead. Just depends how important it is to you to get back the message stored in the older backup.
