I gotta say that I absolutely love Junpei's Ultimate Theurgy. It showcases how much stronger/more competent he has become with his sword and Persona usage. The Chidori silhouette is also such a good reference, makes the line "It's not just my life anymore" hit so much harder than it already did. Junpei really do have some of the best writing and character development in the series.
It's a shame. Chidori is alive.

Previous iterations I didn't like junpei, reload finally made me like him a lot more

Thanatos and Orphius would make perfect sense considering Thanatos unexpected arrival at the beginning of the game and all. Heck, if you want to be super meta call it "the sound of silence".
It could be really cool without being too over the top either. Just repeat the cinematic from the beginning of the game where Oprhius gets summoned like he normally would, then Thanatos pops out and does something, then you get that "screen glitch" effect and Orphius is standing there again.

A shame the development takes so long, even for a double A on Unreal 4. I am hyped for P4 Remake, let's see if there will be any leaks for it. Unlike P3, I actually played P4 back in the day, so nostalgia will be a factor

The first time I saw Blaze of Life (right now) I teared up, holy shit, I was NOT expecting Chidori to show up behind Junpei like that to heal him up

They clearly had a blast coming up with ways to get Makoto out of frame. My personal favorite is when the Jack Bros set up their stage and he just walks off.
Junpei's Blaze of Life is my favourite, nice detail with Chidori too.

Mitsuru's Blizzard Edge is the best one in my view. It is very elegant and truly emphasizes her Empress's Nature.
Also when you use rakunda + concentrate + blizzard edge you literally obliterate the opponent

The Armageddon theurgy skill really gives me some goosebumps. Not only it showcased Protagonist's overwhelming power, but also gave you an idea that such power still has some drawbacks.

I really love how these attacks show how persona user fight in persona 4 the animation it was the persona's doing all the work while the users are just trainers ( which i hated ) but here you can see both user and persona working together like the lighting buff with ceaser was something i didn't even know you could do with persona's.
I mean, it makes sense for the investigation team because they dont know how to fight and have noone to train them without raising suspicion

@@Greenlog12 True, but that was at odds with the game, as even in P4 they still had weapons and it was assumed that they just trained in the TV world. Even in the Games story they had to fight for themselves Kanji literally punched his own shadow, given the rules of the series that should be imposable. The Persona is one with you, just another part, that why the Persona’s En still effects the human using it so they can take hits they normally couldn’t. I.E. no Persona = normal human venerability. Normal human weapons don’t hurt shadows, but the persona’s energy in the individual hitting them dose
Pretty sure persona users gain the abilities of their persona which is why makoto could use any weapon in the original version and could give a reason for persona users being superhuman

Everyone eventually unlocking one with Narukami via S-Links and other teammates having one: Yukiko & Chie, Yusuke & Teddy, Naoto & Kanji, etc.
I mean this is clearly just the Persona 3 equivalent of show times and those p4g special moves. I'm sure every Persona game will have some version of it

I used Ken and his second theurgy was so fucking OP lmao, especially against boss fights, Full Party HP, Revive and Phys/Magi barriers for the whole party, the bosses would literally kill themselves and with his personality I just had him at low SP and I'd be able to do it like every 2-3 turns, it was busted.

To be honest I grinded a bit too much and made the last two Strega fights completely trivial. But when Takaya actually performed theurgy I lost my shit. It caught me completely off guard

Unfortunately I had seen thumbnails and video titles hinting at Takaya’s Theurgy, but I was actually able to hold off long enough to see it myself. And I couldn’t wipe the grin off of my face. Despite the Strega fights still being sorta easy in my opinion just like in OG persona 3. They did an amazing job with Jin and ESPECIALLY Takaya’s rematch fights. I can also confidently say he has my favorite Theurgy attack in the game now.

When I first saw the Jack Bros one, for a second I didn't even see Minato pull the evoker trigger. I thought he just walked off like a badass against the curtains while the bros did their routine.
I really wish they had one for Orpheus Thanatos and Messiah, such a shame 😭

One thing that I feel like should be pointed out is how Akihiko's 2nd theurgy kinda takes after Shinjiro's. Having the Persona not actually attack themselves and instead give everything to buff the user instead. Akihiko and Shinjiro are the only ones to do that

He does, Castor gives him a boost, he probably uses Bloody charge since it's raining blood
To make sure he doesn't lose control of it again he only uses it for a boost and does all the attacks himself. Really shows just how much what he did messed him up 😭

Koromaru's second Theurgy is an amazing enabler for everyone else's physical Theurgies. Because that's all Aigis needed, Charge access during Orgia Mode.

Daman Mills really owned the role of Takaya. He brought a kind of intensity that IMO Derek Stephen Prince was lacking for the character. This guy is going places as a voice actor.

Kinda off topic but I really love Takaya's new voice. I think he got the biggest upgrade. It's so well acted, the dramatic intonations in his speeches are so good and it really compliments his character
When Takaya used Theurgy I yelped. It was both cool and terrifying to see.

No one is talking about how amazing Decarabia riding in on Forneus is, but I think that just shows how amazing all the animation work is

Since Theurgies are based off of P5R Showtimes, and P5R Showtimes are based off of the combination attacks in P4G, the Investigation Team kinda already has them.

Ken's second theurgy is SO OP. One of the best characters to have on your team for the optional endgame content.

Fun fact. Cadenza has Makoto freezing up and leaning to the side. This is a reference to how he damn near COLLAPSES in the originals during fusion.
I kinda feel proud of myself, I really unlocked all the theorgies for the protagonist. I usually don't care about collecting monsters in megaten games, but in P3R I collected about 90% of them, the eternal Tartarus grinding hooked me for better or worse

Of course, Armageddon is still OP, but now it has a downside: it reduces your remaining HP and SP to 1. In the original, it was a fusion skill that would require you to have full SP to use it. And yes, Armageddon is still required to defeat Elizabeth.

This is something I didn’t notice myself either until I played it but, it also reduces the SP of everyone down to 1. Obviously getting rid of your SP is part of his game plan , but I thought that was kinda nuts personally.

Aigis is the absolute greatest violation of the Geneva Convention. Also Ken's support power where he heals the party is really not discussed enough. "I won't let anyone else die" is really sad when you know his backstory.

Bruh Armageddon is just Makoto fucking nuking his enemy. Also, shout out to Junpei's showing character development. First he was clumsy and couldn't even coordinate properly with his persona, then he gets A FLAMING SWORD, and perfectly coordinates (Also the Chidori behind him is a nice detail)

@Papaya-bl4dc in my head cannon he awoke to his persona when his owner died to shadows, and I say it could be shadows because normal humans like the one who filled you in on the priest have their memories of the dark hour replaced. for example, the incident caused by the may boss fight is attributed to faulty breaks. then koro awakens to his second tier when defending the shrine from a shadow on 7/29.
I found some of them a bit lackluster, like Mitsuru's :(

i would say my only complaint about them now vs the og is that it seems like its not very taxing on the protag to summon 2 personas at once now. Before the animation was more dramatic like he was getting hit with a huge wave of exhaustion and starts tipping over.
beyond that though, i like these more in every way

the old armageddon had that powerful feel to it the reload one is cool as well but doesn't hit as hard, but ig shinji delivers on that front
So my head cannon is. This is just a new mechanic to kinda give the other party members something special as well and not just makoto. But I think makoto could still use a fusion spell without the special evoker cartridge, like on the original and it would hit him with that wave of exhaustion.

Messiah needs a theurgy or unique skill. He feels kinda lacking as an ultimate persona whose purpose are only farmed multiple time just for armor and boost only.

Theurgy and fusion spells got to be the best thing in persona. Please retain them in future series. I guess p5r got showtime but its kinda random but pretty cool tho. So atlus please add all these to persona 6 or persona 4 remake or even any dlc for p3r
Kinda sucks that there's less fusion spells compared to the original games. I mean, i get _why_ since they're more useful in reload and have more work in their animations, but there's a lot of things they could've done with the other fusion spells. Rip infinity and last judge.
To be fair, since party members have Theurgy, which also gives similar effects, having many fusion spells is redundant here.
