Fold in half, then you'll have 2 parts Fold each part in half to get 4 Fold each part in half to get 8 Fold each part in half to get 16 Do the same vertically, but until you get 32 parts
@XxalyssaxXh0tti3 try my "mini magic ball" tutorial It is smaller, the pre-creases and collapsing are made a bit different way It is easier and when you understand you can make the standard size too
Kirigami (切り紙) (from japanese : 切る="cut" and 紙="paper") is about cutting paper. There are no cuts on the magic ball, I don't think only gluing is kirigami... About the strict "rules", I do understand you. I also don't like cutting/gluing usually
@am2173 I wish I could find the person who designed this before making a new video. 1) your rectangle has 1:2 proportion? (half of a square) 2) no, it should be half of square 3) you must make all the pre-creases very precisely. I recommend you try the method shown on my video "mini magic ball" (you can use the same technique to make the standard sized magic ball and it is much easier to pre-crease and collapse)
@wotzilla copy paper is usually pretty fine for simple and intermediate levels. And also it is cheap, so it is always a good idea try copy paper first before waste your special paper!
I cannot believe that this guy can do this in an hour....this would take me(around 13 years of on and off modular origami)atleast 3,on the second try....Dang asians are talented.
your awesome at this...dont get me wrong but ur not talking! i cant usnderstand it! and pleas slow down a lil.....btw has anyone told u ur awesome at oragami??
ZOMG! WATERBOMB SKILLZ! do the waterbombs on this work coz the way u make the diagonal creases or the paper u use? btw r u using just A4 cut into a 1:2 ?

Hey jo great video by the way, I was wondering if you could help me with a little something. When you tape the magic ball I colapse the last to columns of waterbombs that go across, and when you have colapsed all of the waterbombs there are little rectangles left at the end do you connect them with tape to the other rectangles to make a square ? Thanks for your help Jo ! :)
@600paul The reverse folds are very important for the round shape, so make sure after you do your water bombs to unfold the top and bottom and do them.
@glowerworm Just folding this for the first time (Just the creasing not the "Mesh"), took me about 2 hours to get right. Took my a total of 5 hours to get the "mesh" done.
i did it it took me about 1,5 hours but i did it!!!!! its sooo coo!!!!l i played with it the whole day will it be more difficult when i take thicker paper because i want it to get more stable.!!??
@flipbomberflopper actually color paper, white paper its the same thing although printer paper should be already a rectangle. If it isnt a rectangle i probaly think thats not printer paper. Suggestions * use printer paper
How do you get 2 colors on the ball, specifically red on the top half and white on the bottom half? I want mine to look like a pokeball. Please reply back. Thanks.
hey jo , what kind of tape do you use to bond the two sides at the end of the video......i had made this model before but when i tape it together the tape causes the paper to bulge out , plz help
@wotzilla any paper can be used for origami. origami paper is thinner than copy paper and plus, its already square. I use origami paper because its easier to fold when making simple origami
@SuddenAttackspy We do not need to know about the making of THE ball. We are looking to find out who do we ask to make this tutorial. Yes we asked Kade but he said he did NOT make it. Thank you for trying to help out! :)
Made this so many times back in the day very easy just time consuming. Good old days them were
Yeah those waterbombs are easy but they do take awhile lol
Fold in half, then you'll have 2 parts
Fold each part in half to get 4
Fold each part in half to get 8
Fold each part in half to get 16
Do the same vertically, but until you get 32 parts
Fold horizontally dividing in 16 equal parts (as said in 0:12)
WOW!!!
It took me almost an hour til' i'm finish.
It came out a little bit wierd, but still is a magic ball.
Great Video! Thanks for the help!
@XxalyssaxXh0tti3

WONDERFUL !!!!
what role do you use?
it's a normal leaf?
near the beginning when you make the multiple vertical and horizantal creases but you skipped over, how did you do that?
THATS AWESOME!
@600paul The reverse folds are very important for the round shape, so make sure after you do your water bombs to unfold the top and bottom and do them.

Suggestions
* use printer paper
How do you get 2 colors on the ball, specifically red on the top half and white on the bottom half? I want mine to look like a pokeball. Please reply back. Thanks.
@jonakashima a hotdog fold is when you have copy paper and fold it in half the long way, so it looks like a hotdog because its long
This is regular copy paper
can you use regular printing paper?
How long does it take to make the first one?
if you folded it 16x32,wouldn't it be rectangles that are creased, not squares?
hey jo , what kind of tape do you use to bond the two sides at the end of the video......i had made this model before but when i tape it together the tape causes the paper to bulge out , plz help
when your glueing do you glue one segment or two segments
such a challage i cant do that too! maybe i should try mini one!
@wotzilla any paper can be used for origami. origami paper is thinner than copy paper and plus, its already square. I use origami paper because its easier to fold when making simple origami
