This in my opinion is a no brainer. A correctly tuned-done up radio is absolutely the way to go when driving it into an amplifier. Even more so,having variable power is essential when running an amplifier. Those who do not believe its necessary, are incorrectly informed. Again, just my opinion but i think Rooster just proved it with this video. Nice work!
I don't see anything wrong with doing a tune if it's done properly and cleanly. This is not to throw shade at anyone and I think rooster does a great job at selling quality products. You just have to be careful with who you have tune it because that doesn't necessarily mean that all watts out are good clean watts. Personally if I want more power I just get a bigger radio and not try to squeeze more out of a small radio. At the end of the day I say to each their own.
Hi Rooster! Have you heard of anyone modifying/tuning a handheld President Randy FCC? I have one and would love to have someone tune it for me! Thanks Rooster, keep up the good work.
Since you're not showing the harmonic content of that amplifier (which is probably horrible), your wattmeter readings don't mean much. Those meters only read accurately when the signal going into them is very low in distortion... a clean sine wave.

Good video Rooster man. But what does it look like on the scope ? How much of that pwr is on freq. and how much is spurious? Cheers man 👍🥃🇦🇺
Nice class sir!
I fo'sho miss my 1×4 fatboy, all 2879 Toshiba's!

I have not sir
😆 Yup might drift a touch
Nice video. Tuned is the only way to go.
I think showing the receive S meter reading of a receive radio as a comparison would be interesting. Cheers!
Maybe when I get some TRE top ones done up, I'll test stock vs performance tuned

That's a lot of speculation on your behalf. Next video comparison of a stock radio versus modified radio will include an on the air test comparison.
