After many years of film viewing, time and reflection, Friedkin has become my favourite director of all time. Truly courageous, honest and uncompromising. And even his bad films have some worth in them intellectually. He did genre films with higher meaning and they weren't pretentious. The most difficult thing to pull off.

Even though I’d already watched The Exorcist a few times, screening it in an empty, freezing cold, slightly run down empty cinema is definitely one of my most memorable film experiences. Killer Joe is great, your review makes want to check other work by the playwright. I only saw The Birthday Party a few years ago and was really impressed with the seedy realism that really captures working class Britain in the 60’s. I really fancy watching Bug, looks interesting.

Michael Shannon in Bug was the first performance that made me stop and think "damn, that guy's a great actor" I may have watched it too young lol but it's one of my favorite movies to this day and one of the many reasons Shannon is still one of my favorite actors. Great video man, please keep it up!

I think that the “scariest movie of all time” tag has done “The Exorcist” a disservice to modern audiences. It builds up expectations and this film is a slow burn. It’s needed and important for the story to work but I’ve had trouble showing this to others. Besides the notorious scenes that once made audiences sick isn’t what makes this work for me. It’s a character study. Ellen Burstyn is amazing. The most terrifying thing can be watching a loved one get sicker and sicker before your eyes.
For it to build to a point where this atheist mother turns to priests is amazingly executed. All of Chris’ money and resources do nothing in the face of this but she will do anything for her daughter.
And Jason Miller… so brilliant. He rarely acted before this film and this performance of this priest losing his faith, losing meaning, and finding it by helping this girl. Moving.

He was hilarious too - his video about method actors on RUclips is better than most stand up bits.
“I couldn’t give a flying fuk into a rolling donut what Al Pacino thinks of Cruising” fuking hilarious

Great video, but I've gone through life trying to avoid seeing stills from the exorcist and BOOM! There is was😭
My adrenaline immediately goes off every time this happens in life, as if I'm still 10 years old.
Yet I'm a woman who went to the Hellfire club from Cruising on a non gay night when I arrived in NYC as a 17 year old southern girl😂
What an amazing filmmaker Friedkin was.

I liked "deal of the century" with Gregory hines and Chevy chase. Sigourney weaver looks great in that movie 🎥.

Cruising was never cut down or censored... What was cut out was 40 mins of hardcore gay porn, which Billy threw in so his film would pass the censors. There are several interviews where Friedkin tells this story.

To be fair, you really can't trust anything Friedkin says since his stories seem to change from decade to decade.

I could be wrong, but I thought Sorcerer, Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, and Star Wars all opened the same week. Also, "Open Season" wasn't just an Alfred Hitchcock Hour episode, it was the very last one. "Nightcrawlers" is one of my favorite segments of the '80s Twilight Zone.
