Dude, you are doing a great job. Your videos are short and right to the point. Very good use of repeating a technique and slow-mo. And don't worry about covering basics. Remember, we all started out with zero knowledge on this at some point, and there are new folks looking to join all the time. Keep up the great work.
Never done CAS. I have done IDPA. I was surprised just how fast you are with single actions. That was fantastic. Obviously, I prefer my semi-auto for self-defense, but with practice and good technique, they're quite competitive.
Videos are great boss. I grew up shooting my hole life being a country boy, you’ve definitely got my attention and have got me itching to get a rig and get out there
Just got a single action. Really enjoying learning how to use it correctly, efficiently and safely. Tuning the rig is good fun. Gonna try cross draw for sure.
awesome simply awesome to be honest I am watch these to use my single action in homestead defence! I really appreciate to slow-motion sections showing us the actual movements.
Fantastic! This is what I needed. I was doing almost everything wrong! I was drawing weak side first, pushing it out to shooting position before switching it to my strong hand, cocking first shot with strong hand thumb and left thumb for other shots, etc. This should help tons in both time and accuracy.
Excellent video! I’m a new shooter so this was very helpful. I’m shooting gunfighter, how about a video for that? Suggestion - don’t transition from slo-mo to full speed too quickly. I was trying to observe some final hand and finger positions and it was a bit hard. Definitely worth the time I spent watching your video. Excellent use of full speed to slow motion to full speed.
I just did a bunch of your double taps. It has a very strange look to it on video. Pretty cool though. I need to practice it more. I've seen videos doing it with a fan.
At 4:53, its seems to me that the direction your gun is pointing at is outside the 170 degree cone? And the way you explain the double strong side draw with slow motion video has been very helpful, thanks a lot!
Great video Dead Eye! Thanks for taking the time to make them. I really love all the different camera angles and slow-motion so you can really see all the different views of what you are doing with your hands. What factors do you look at when deciding which pistol to draw first? Do you ever have a situation when you draw your strong side before your cross-draw?
Thanks! With the double strong side, when I moved left to shoot pistols I always drew my left pistol first, same when moving right. With the crossdraw, I always draw cross first, I really can't remember the last time I didn't. It would have to come down to a gut feeling of stage flow during a split pistol stage to make me switch.
@@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting/videos I shoot double strong and which way I am moving usually dictates but I also factor in what gun is next and how much time I have between transitions (i.e. long run, short run, couple steps, S&D). For example, if my shotgun is after pistols and it is a short run or less, I will draw my left pistol first so that I can draw shotgun shells while moving to my shotgun. Do you think that it is an advantage or that I am overthinking it?
Definitely not over thinking it. It really comes down to what flows naturally for you. It is though, always good to push yourself in different ways. In my mind I think, don't "worry" about grabbing the shotshells, be confident in grabbing them wether you have time to get to your shotgun or it's right in front of you.
Great video, and a review even after two years of competing I'm revisiting my moves. Now since my father made sure I could shoot rifles and handguns with either hand and either eye (because I'm right-handed and left-eye dominant), I shoot double strong side, starting with my left hand shooting my left Blackhawk and then switching to my right hand with my right Blackhawk. Although it seems straightforward, do you have any suggestions to improve my speed and performance? I will be trying your pull and into the chest style as a start. Thanks in advance for any help, and for the video. Harding "Colonel Douglass" Dies
Well done shooter! Excellent production. While I clearly understood your ep. 1 stndrd/slip dbl tap. It's hard to tell in this ep. 2 if you are shooting 5 or 6 rounds. Old school SS only carry 5 in the cylinder, right? May I suggest you advise the viewer how many rounds you are putting downrange. Thank you for your instruction, you have natural talent on several disciplines.
More transitions are coming, I think starting out, I'm going to alternate between shooting tips and transition videos. Lots of transitions to cover! Thanks for watching!
I am at the veryyy beginning of the competition thing. So far I really like shooting the .38 specials in my 92 rossi and my pietta 73. .357 is way more power and a bit slower then I want. Butt my more tactical buddies are in shock of my speeds. I am still slow.
Great video. For the double strong side do you think it would be wise to just shoot with left hand? I only ask because years ago I broke my right index(strong side) before a deployment and learned to shoot weak side.
Great video, I used a cross draw rig for years loved it then moved to the double strong for many years both have pros & cons of course, the two negatives would be pistol pistol rifle gun order stand and deliver and the other being shooting a long gun then moving to your weak side several yards for the pistol position, just curious how you personally deal with those two situations,
Hey, this is Jangles, from the Texas Ten Horns club in Leonard, and I was wondering if you would be able to do a video on some tips on shooting your shotgun? I saw how fast and how accurate you shot your shotgun when you shot with us. Thank you.
I love the video and two others of yours and am now a subscriber. I'm into my second year of CAS and have used both cross-draw and strong side methods. But since I was always taught to shoot equally well with both hands and both eyes (though I tend to be left-eye dominant while right-handed), whenever I shoot strong side, I shoot the left gun left-handed and the right gun right-handed - initially to save time in the gun transition (that I saw slowed down many shooters). I don't know if you've ever tried this but I would really like to hae your thoughts on this method.
Most people are dominant with one hand. If you shoot left gun left handed as well as right gun right handed, what your doing sounds like a good way to me!
Just found your channel and it is awesome!!! What leather maker would you recommend for a beginner? I have a single strong side rig but its more western leather and hard to draw and reholster. I definitely will be going cross draw love the flow of it. Thanks for any advice.
My shotgun belt was made by murphy gun leather, makes good holsters too. My crossdraw rig was made by Colt Faro. Like a lot of our sports leather makers I don't think he has a website. Mernickles probably a good place to start.
@@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting Thanks for your reply, I will probably go with Mernickles for now. Man I hope you can keep up the videos I've seen them all and they are the best teaching tools I can find on RUclips.
So much wrong with this video…don’t need the music video at the beginning. Have some issue with your holster being cut down…my range doesn’t allow them…so many goobers out there who have no business having a gun in their hand, 2A be damned. Also, you’re going to shoot your foot off one of these days…competition does not preclude you from using trigger discipline. Great “what not to do” video though.
Really enjoy your videos. As a beginner, they are a tremendous help in getting started in the right direction.

The slow motion black & white clips are perfect. Fits the cowboy style while also making it really easy to see your process. Great videos!
Very happy to see some new videos and tutorials having to do with SASS. Great work.
Nice work. Liked the different angles and loops. Good commentary.
Great channel. I just got into CAS, I don't have the basics down yet. I'm soaking this stuff up.

Another great video Dead Eye! Very well produced, edited, and put together. You're doing a great job and I look forward to your next video.
HI, I'm a SASS shooter from Sweden and I really like your videos. Good footage and great tips. Keep up the good work. 😁👍
There’s nothing negative that can said about your videos bud. Outstanding skills
Dang it. You put a lot of work into that videography! THANK YOU for explaining!
Fantastic video. Really appreciate you making these!
These vids are awesome. I’ve never tried sass but I love the technique and philosophy as well as the style and history. The “speed” is just amazing.
Another great video, maybe you should start the sport of "CAS, Camera Action Shooting." The detailed views you provide are awesome!
Had my first shoot today. Loved it. Just got to work on my target
Acquisition didn't have time to finish it
Thats awesome! Welcome to the game!
Respect. You single action the way I auto. Game recognize game, sir. Well done.
Your videos are very informative. As a new SASS shooter, your advice and instructions are very helpful.
I just meant you at a match in Cushing this weekend. This is a great video for a newbie. Awesome job. Thank you
Really great pointers for the technique’ly challenged ... can’t wait to take this dry fire practice to the range in a few days

Thanks for the video, I’ll be practicing this 😁👍

Another great video, thank you. I would love to see one on hammered double barrel.
Stay tuned! I working on a couple more videos right now but I'm making my way to the hammered double. It's a blast a shoot!

High quality video, Tks.

Nice work
Great ideas
If you got a 44 Colt Python laying around that would be pretty cool too..?
Nice work!
Would be interested in what loads you are running.
Can you give instruction on hammered shotgun
nice content
Very nice.

Which belt made you faster? Black or Brown?
What guns do u prefer to use??
How many videos have you done? I'd like to save them all to review in one place. Thank you. Lou AKA "Major Pain"
Just the 4 so far on this channel. I'll try and keep'em comin!
Have you ever shot gunfighter style, two pistols at once?
What barrel length do you prefer?
Where do u get your holsters made
Do you have groves on your hammers or did you file them off ?
They are stock.
Do you shoot pistols and long guns with both eyes open? Thank you.
Sometimes, though, when I'm really focused I close one. I don't really notice a difference in our sport.
Pretty sure he’s on red dead??? Great video!
Where can I get your cross draw holster? 😅

Those one grain Bullseye loads really minimize recoil.

I believe it is the 170 degree rule not 180.
Drawing and holstering are the exception to the 170, your allowed up to 180.
This is why I don't Cowboy action shoot anymore. I could never be that fast. Also, I shot gunfighter because it was a lot more fun to dual wield, lol.
Now I have to go get a single six.
Damn did you even bother putting any gunpowder in those rounds? Lol I’ve fired BB guns with more recoil lol
Whoever said single actions were slow and antiquated, they just didn't practice.
I r cool
