I was conscripted into the Ukrainian army when I was 22. Nobody in my squad nor platoon volunteered to be in the Zone, as we had all been conscripted, but we tried to have fun. For a while we treated it like it was a camping trip adventure, where we would sing songs around the campfires at night sharing vodka and playing the guitar. Evgeny was our squad guitarist, he was a musician before being conscripted and he would play us to sleep every night. We forgot about death for around a month, before we had our first casualty. Pavel was guarding the bridge with a small detachment when it came under attack by mutants. When we arrived they were in pieces. We carried them back to base with us in body bags, no one dared to look them in the eye. Up until that day we treated our deployment to the Zone like a child on a roadside picnic. “So what if we die?” we used to think before that day, but now death is always on our minds. Evgeny is gone to the Zone now, and with it our nights of sleep. Such is life in the Zone.

Metro 2033 , The Good ending will always have a special place in my heart. I played the game during a very strange time in my life. After a while, I went through it again just to unlock the good ending. So here I stood, in the mid of the pandemic lockdown, in the front of the screen, crying my heart out at the end scene of the game while the song echoed across my room. My then ex told me this song is pure beauty. Then whe broke up, and I did another playthrough of the game just so i could pretend i could hear the song for the first time. Strange times, indeed. Still makes my skin crawl. Beautiful.

The fact that it's more comforting to listen to a guy playing a guitar at a campfire in the post apocalypse, than anything from day to day life dispite all our luxury, is, concerning
I think it might be because it feels more genuine. In our world, almost everything is handed out on a silver platter, and the stuff that we do earn is earned with pieces of paper that we get from working in relative safety. In the worlds of these two games, everything sucks. You can't have good friends because they'll probably die at some point, you can't have items that you cherish because they'll probably get lost or stolen, hell you can barely even eat or sleep. And on top of all that, you need to constantly have your guard up because as soon as you drop it, you die. The campfire is the only place where none of that is true. A guy can play his instrument and another guy can hand out a few drinks and everyone can just talk. Everyone forgets about the horrible position that they're in for a few hours
I like to think that he's a stalker in a post apocalyptic world that just enters a camp, sits down, plays his guitar then leaves, without even saying a word

There's something about the post appocolypse that people these days long for. Maybe the simplicity of life, the more straightforward threat, or the comfort of the discomfort that draws us in, I don't know.

Historically, men did all the hard work, and it's basically just something engraved in all men. The longing to be the hero, or something like that. I hate those facemasks because they serve no purpose and only make you look like someone scared of a virus. Gas masks, however, make you look funny. I've worn a gas mask for over an hour at a time, but can't stand wearing a cloth mask for more than half an hour.
plus, facemasks were designed to be worn in surgery to reduce droplets of spit from coming out a surgeons mouth. Gas masks were designed to be worn for hours at a time, because that might be how long the NBC threat lasts.

Same here, I love Stalker as well, but Metro has a special place in my heart. Stalker has one too, but Metro series is kind of closer.

There's something about the post appocolypse that people these days long for. Maybe the simplicity of life, the more straightforward threat, or the comfort of the discomfort that draws us in, I don't know.

@@sirTANKhunter definitely that. Perhaps it's also natural that the human male wishes for something more to do in this relatively boring modern life. Historically, men did all the hard work, and it's basically just something engraved in all men. The longing to be the hero, or something like that. I suppose this post apocalyptic kind of stuff is appealing as a sort of escape. It's hard to explain but you get it 😁

I just can’t help but feeling a cool wind, I close my eyes and dream. Dream of a cold tunnel. Liquid drops down from the roof of the tunnel like a slow dropping rain. To my left is the warmth of the scout fire, to my right is the dark depths of the metro tunnels. The men around me sit, silently watching the flames. My Handmade assault rifle leaning against my body, my clothes covered in Grease, and soot. Beyond this fire, creatures watch. Watch us live, watch us survive. They watch as what little is left of us is scoured away.
Any time I hear any of these songs, this is all I can imagine. I always close my eyes to escape to this brutish and cold fantasy. Yet I somehow find comfort in it.

Hearing the main theme to Metro: Last Light brought back so many memories. Pure nostalgia of the metro, the mutants and fire fights I had. God, I never thought I'd revisit all the moments from such a time...
Anti-Maskers: *Can't have mask on for 5 min.*
Campfire Stalker: *Playing guitar with gas mask for 30min*
tovarishch, gas masks are more comfortable (at least in a cool environment) than regular masks. I hate those facemasks because they serve no purpose and only make you look like someone scared of a virus. Gas masks, however, make you look funny. I've worn a gas mask for over an hour at a time, but can't stand wearing a cloth mask for more than half an hour.
plus, facemasks were designed to be worn in surgery to reduce droplets of spit from coming out a surgeons mouth. Gas masks were designed to be worn for hours at a time, because that might be how long the NBC threat lasts.

I've learned it by doing. Not a single hour of guitarschool at all. I'm doing these days regularly street music. But like in this video I'm not singing, I'm "just" playing. Then all I'm interested in, is creating noises, which touching our inside and "doing something" with us... Magical frequencies!

Я случайно пропустил первый урок и поэтому решил пойти ко второму.Через 15 минут я должен выйти на улицу и идти в школу в морозную погоду.Я быстро запустил комп и включил эту музыку,чтобы расслабится перед школой.Я допиваю свой холодный чай,который я не успел выпить когда вставал к первому уроку.Когда пришло время идти,я встал и пошел одеваться.Я спустился по лифту и вышел на улицу... Я подышал сухим воздухом и включил в своих наушниках эту сборку песен из великого "Сталкера". Примерно когда я прошел пол пути,мне позвонили на телефон. Мне звонила мама. Я ответил на телефонный звонок и услышал примерно это: "Погоди,у вас же каникулы уже начались вроде". Я вспомнил про каникулы и радостный побежал домой. Теперь я сижу в тепле с горячим чаем и слушаю эту музыку.Каникулы 2 недели, да и Новый Год через 3 дня. Кайф,что сказать...

Volver a jugar Stalker siempre da una rara sensación de volver a casa, ahora solo queda esperar que nos depara con Stalker 2, ojalá que GSC no se haya prostituido y nos entregue un Far Cry con mutantes...

I'm weak my comrades. This zone and it's anomalies are everyday stronger. I'm tired of giving my 100% just to get shot and some low-level artifacts. There's a guitar permanently in my character's inventory in STALKER Anomaly. Just love having them play it when waiting out emissions and psystorms.
