I was cooking in a greasy spoon restaurant it was empty that night about 2 in the morning a couple was sitting in a booth eating and the waitress I was working with that night played this on the jukebox without realizing I was singing this song to the best of my ability and I DONT sing in public the look on the face of that waitress when I started dancing with her was of pure shock the next thing I know it's 28 years later and we are married with three kids and a grandbaby on the way. thank you Otis Redding I found my beautiful wife because of you and my oldest is named Otis in honor of the man who helped me find my love. and yes I still sing this song to her the best one was at our 25th anniversary I made my son cry when I sang it because he said that he could truly feel the love I will always have for his mother

Yeah, I agree. Music nowadays is treated like a business and less like art… and with monopolistic streaming services, musicians are forced to treat it the same way, just so they can stay afloat. But once in a rare while, you’ll find an underrated independent artist whose music gives you the chills, and makes you tear up!

It was her favorite song before she lost the battle with cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, I miss her smiles, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, life could be so unfair most times but sometimes I wonder why bad things always happen to good people. Yearning from wanting you
And if you would let them hold you
Oh, how grateful I will be
These arms of mine, they are burning
    Burning from wanting you
These arms of mine, they are wanting
    Wanting to hold you
And if you would let them hold you
Oh how grateful I will be
    Come on, come on baby
    Just be my little woman
    Just be my lover, oh
I need me somebody, somebody to treat me right, oh
I need your arms, loving arms to hold me tight

Otis Redding's music has a special place in my heart, as it is deeply connected to my parents' love bond for me and my memories of my late father. Growing up, my parents often played his songs on our car journeys, and as a result, his music has become intertwined with my cherished memories of our time spent together.
Whenever I hear Otis Redding's soulful voice, I am instantly transported back to those car rides and feel the warmth of my parents' love enveloping me. The emotional depth and passion of his music are a reflection of the love and care that my parents have always shown me.
However, the connection between Otis Redding's music and my parents' love for me goes beyond just memories. His music speaks to the universal themes of love, loss, and hope, which are at the core of the bond between parents and their children.
Sadly, my father has passed away, but his love for Otis Redding's music lives on through me. Whenever I listen to his songs, I feel a deep connection to my father and a sense of comfort in knowing that his love for me endures.
In many ways, Otis Redding's music has become a symbol of my parents' love bond for me and a way to keep my father's memory alive. It reminds me that even though he is no longer with me, his love and influence continue to shape who I am today.

The man's heart had known great pain, evident in the way his soul hangs on to every word of this song that though performed by many other fine and talented singers, he alone owned it.

This is the definition of "soul music", because only Otis can touch you on that frequency.

This soul music reminds me of the beautiful time of the 60th and 70th music and our dancing parties. No current music can compare!

I remember my mother playing this Otis Redding song, along with I've got dream's over and over in our basement on vinyl... She was grieving after my father divorced her, it was so sad.. We felt so helpless, there was nothing we could do to help her pain.. We were hurting as well... These songs are timeless...

I used to love listening to oldies and working on drawings all evening long (mostly in calm quiet spots; while by myself), years ago...
It was like, 'therapeutic meditation', for me.

This song brings back so many memories... {These Arms Are Mine}...This is one of our favorites!! My girlfriend and I use to sing this song back in the day. Wow those were the best days of our lives!! She would get up on the coffee table in the living room with her hair brush in hand and use it as a microphone and we would sing to Otis songs until our dates picked us up! So much fun... When I think back of all those times and how many wonderful times Otis Redding brought into our life, I can’t thank him enough. God has surely blessed many with this same feeling I’m sure. As my time goes on in age I can say I still feel like I’m that 17 year old girl with my best girlfriend and so does she as we still to this very day every time we listen to those Otis Redding Songs that feel so danged good in our souls!! I don’t know that I’ll be able to get her on that coffee table again, but it sure would be fun to try!! lol Blessings to you and your family Otis wherever you may be singing with your sweet voice!! 🌸

I was walking through a mall and this song was playing. I was caught off guard as to how incredible his voice was. I immediately went into the "record store" playing it, asked the name of the song and the artist. Bought a complication CD and have enjoyed it for years.
