Its not aeration but I think can have a similar effect, Planting Spring flowering bulbs like snowdrops and crocus into the lawn! The roots open the soil up and help with drainage. The downside being you have to keep your lawn higher and can't mow in the spring.
Thats how were all learning dude, because we like hearing you waffling on 😆 going get a few products together and get a top class renovation done in the early spring!!
Was there any need to do that on the recently laid turf ? And also on the seeded area as you spent a huge amount of time and effort getting the drains fitted? Both lawns look in excellent condition and being they are on brand new 6 month old soil/sub-base that you have been feeding with nutrients are you not just removing all that decent soil that has nutrients? Fully agree with doing this on older plots but I’m not sure it’s needed on something that’s only 6 months old ?
It's all about getting it to survive through the winter. For three years the lawn has died back more than 50%. I've had quite a lot of advice from experts this year about how to get it through the winter with the unique position this lawn is in with the shade it gets. If all works out, boss. If not, it's another lesson to learn from.
nice work, kinda relaxing seeing the dressing disappear down the holes. talking of holes, you could perhaps drill some weep holes in your wooden sleepers to help drainage - and what about some strategically placed mirrors to get the winter sun?
It’s been raining all day. It’s due to rain most of tomorrow. Weather man says it’s also going to rain the day after that! Presumably you can’t aerate a soggy lawn. Do you have any top tips on how to identify when the ground is in the right condition to aerate? I.e Not too wet or dry. Thanks
Inspiration video. Going through back catalogue. Thanks

Nice one!
I'm not sure everyone's a fan of my waffling, but it's good to get comments like this - appreciate it.
Exactly what I will be doing over the next week so thanks for posting this. The hollow tining looks really easy on that time-lapse 😂😂😂
When I see the timelapse is a 30 second video, but it took ages to do - drives me mad 🤣

Not a bad shout about the holes!
Someone mentioned mirrors last year! Just going to take the hit. It's mad how little sun it's already started to get.
How’s that new drainage you dug coped with all the recent rain? Can’t think of a tougher test!
It’s be decent so far. Still too early to know for sure, but decent for now 👍🏻

It's best to give it a day or two so that's it's not too wet. It's been awful this week, but after a couple of days, you're good to go!
@@NoviceGardener Thanks!
Can you get an airator attachment for the new lawnmower to save time on the manual airation?
I can't unfortunately! If there was one, I'd buy it, whatever the cost! It would save the graft 😅
I'm lucky I only have a small lawn!
Ive just seeded my garden, is it too late?
Possibly, but it depends. If we have a mild November, you might be ok. If not, just over seed in spring and it should be ok.
@@NoviceGardener wether in day don’t look to bad. I’m just worried about the frosty mornings
What 70:30 did you use, and do you have a link for it? Thank you.
It's from Agrigem, it's their 70/30 top dressing 👍🏻
@@NoviceGardener - thank you. Enjoying the content. Thank you 🙏
can I ask where you can get the 70/30 top soil mix from please?
Agrigem for the stuff I used in the video 👍🏻
Have you not got a lawn Lute, i would of thought it would of been better than a brush & rake
