  • In this video, I discuss my experiences in therapy including the overall process, as well as I personal pros and cons. For people watching, you probably already know how therapy went... I am grateful to my parents for the opportunity and do feel guilt that it didn't really lead to anything to be honest. However, maybe this video can give you insight into what to not do while having therapy or perhaps give you an idea of whether therapy will help you or not.

    I think the biggest problem with modern mental health care is that we think we can medicate away every problem with chemicals. They may (or more likely, may not) numb you to your sadness. But the underlying problems aren't gone. It's the equivalent of taking pain killers and saying your broken leg is healed because you can't feel it.

      It's a form of chemical-induced lobotomy. They just refuse to admit it

      True, most modern medicine doesn't seem to do much other than mask symptoms. Its funny seeing medical professionals (at least the old school ones) claim that they have their health under control but take several medications to regulate their cholesterol / sugar. Eventually, these stop working and they have to get insulin shots or more extreme intravenous medications which have more severe side effects like severe loss of appetite. Modern medicine seems deeply flawed which is why there is a slow shift back towards lifestyle change / natural medicine (at least for managing chronic conditions).

      A lot of mental problems are caused by modern society. Instead of acknowledging why these problems are caused, they try to mask these problems with chemicals.
      They just put you on drugs, so you shut up and continue working and consuming.

    hi
    since you were reaching out about people's experience with medication, i thought i would tell you. ive tried a wide array of meds, including sertraline, and it didnt really help with depression, it just helped me stop being a coomer ig. people need love; they need acceptance, belonging, purpose, and hope, and i dont think pills that are designed to trick your brain into feeling happy would do much good when i know that, at least for me, i am depressed because my life and the world i live in make me sad. just my two cents

      hey its been a while! thanks for sharing, and based on what you said I also highly doubt that medication will help me in the long run... also I don't really want the anti-coomer side effects of zoloft either. also, I haven't got far into yet but I finally started playing doki doki literature club like you told me to 2 years ago. I am team sayori for now but maybe that will change when I do the yuri route... i just have a thing for the childhood friend lol

      No, it really won't. In the vast majority of cases it won't fix the root cause of the mental health problems and is at best a crutch towards doing so, as some others have suggested. Of course, you're welcome to try it; it's your body afterall and you shouldn't feel pressured. But I just wanted to give my opinion on it :) If you don't take them you can coom to your heart's content.
      Ah yes, looks like you finally tried it. Yeah Sayori is a cutie but I like Yuri more :) Childhood friend is an interesting trope, I wonder why you like it. Well, anyways, I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did (although i got bothered a bit, i guess the game did try to warn me so yeah :P)

      @comfypilled  2 года назад +3

      Hey manchu so sorry for the extremely late reply. Also sorry I realize I've been a bad friend to you and a lot of others that care for me, especially because of my tendency to ghost and run away from people when my mind is in a bad place. It's something I've been doing for a long time, even to people irl (not that it makes it right) but it's just one of those things where once I don't respond for one day, I feel ashamed for not responding and it makes it even harder to respond. It doesn't justify it but I'm really not sure how to explain what causes me to act this way in words. That being said, I hope you are still doing ok and maybe perhaps ascended or at least found something worthwhile that gives your life meaning even if it's not a job. Also, thanks for the input on the meds, though I've decided to put off taking them for the mean time after taking into account your and other people's input. I think what appeals to me about the childhood friend trope is that it seems like one of the few scenarios where something like non-transactional blue pill love might actually come true so maybe that's why I like it. I finished 1 ending but haven't gotten through the other endings yet, partly because my mind is all over the place and I keep switching between games without finishing any. It is a very disturbing game but that's also partly what I like about it lol, since it discusses topics that other media normally steer clear of

    For the cost of some of these therapists, i honestly think its better to pay to have sex. Atleast you wont be missing physical contact nearly as much and even tough its a prostitute it can feel very intimate.

    Based on my own research, taking antidepressants is a bit like taking roids, they work as long as you're taking them and when you stop, you're probably worse off. They are meant to be a crutch, not a cure. Many people also have to change medication several times before finding one that works for them.

    From what I’ve experienced, talk therapy is for people with minor issues. Maybe it works for someone trying to get over a bad breakup, but medication is needed. In my case, I have bad AVPD/social anxiety, so my therapy did nothing. My personality will always be screwy, so my only hope is getting a warehouse or security job with minimal social interaction. I don’t even know what I’d do with the money other than sit around an apartment with no life besides going to work, but I really don’t like leeching off my parents. You can’t talk your way out of missing out on adolescences and now the damage of hikikomori level isolation. Therapist can’t relate to this and there is almost no interest or emphasis on addressing it even though there have to be a couple million people living like this in the US.

      You have described my existence quite accurately. Having social anxiety, socialization in any form is hard and taxing on the body and mind. I have an degree but I seek to have an job with little interaction. Even with tons of exposure to social situations my anxiety doesnt get better, sometimes its okay but other times it overwhelmes me. And its everyday like this. Changing thinking patterns helps minor, only drugs give a short temporary relive, like benzos, alkohol or other anxiolitics. I dont want to live parasitic too, I want more from life but i generally hate social situations or have big trouble with them even if they sometimes do actually bring some joy

    I find it to be kind of interesting how you are basically introspective to the point of it being a fault. I consider you to be a very bright mind, and the irony is that your mind will simply not lead you to the path you want. I heard someone long ago give the following advice to a drug user who was in a similar state of paralysis by analysis. He said "you already know what's behind door A, when are you going to try door B?" Of course this comment could be interpreted as another normy telling you to get a job. Regardless, I'm pulling for you.

    • @comfypilled
      @comfypilled  2 года назад +2

      I see where you are coming from. I think the job will happen at some point eventually, and maybe I will realize that what was behind door B this whole time wasn't that bad. I have a feeling thought that given the way my mind works, I will be equally miserable walking through either door at least until I sort myself out internally. I appreciate the support.
