  • All you will need is:
    • 8-10 grapevine branches (clip branches that are about 3-4ft long)
    • Clippers
    • Glue Gun (can be made without a glue gun, but it takes a lot of practice)
Next time you are out for a walk, bring your clippers and save some trees/bushes from being choked out by grapevines.
And if you are trying to look for ideas to keep the kids busy, show them what grapevine branches look like, and go on a scavenger hunt to see who can spot the most!
They look fantastic in planters, or string them with twinkle lights for an amazing patio decoration. And when it comes to indoor décor the possibilities are endless ~ table top display items, holiday ornaments, and chandeliers, just to name a few.
Send me pictures of how you have used your Grapevine Orbs!
    And remember...

I am in love! I started discovering vines and weaving them into wreaths in 2015/16 and I just came across your channel and please continue more projects! How about a lamp shade for a low wattage bulb

@@janiemcrae8257 I have been thinking about the concept - I think the easiest way to do this is... when making the orb, just leave a hole in the base that would allow the bulb to fit through. (Still thinking about how to attach it to the lamp base, ...will keep you posted ;0)

Yes, wait until the fall, as they will harden up nicely.😉

Great project! I have so many grapevines in my yard, but they are green and not as pliable. I can bend them into a largish wreath but not smaller without them breaking. Should I wait until fall or winter to harvest them?

Now would be a good time to collect them and here is a DIY video to make your own Evergreen Wreath for the holidays! ruclips.net/video/YLDOZka5rxQ/видео.html

Ordering if it would help o soak the grapevines in water to make it more pliable, or would it damage it?

As long as you use them within a few days of being clipped, they are very flexible. (you could soak them, but the glue may not adhere if they are too moist)

Thank you. This was very helpful. I'm wondering what you would suggest as an alternative to the glue gun for securing the twigs? I'm becoming more aware of the impact of plastics to the natural world. It would be wonderful if there was something that could be used to secure to grapevines that would also naturally breakdown eventually. Thank you.

You don't actually need to use a glue gun or anything. The rings stay pretty secure without it, and once you have the 3 rings locked together, you can inter-weave branches, using an over/under pattern, until you get the fullness you like. (I do it that way, rather than using the glue gun...but for beginners the glue makes it a little more manageable.) Just takes a little bit more patience, but give it a go!

@@NaturalCraftsRecipes Thank you! It is neat how the branches will work together with a bit of finesse 😉 I also used a little jute twine and some thin wire here and there. I went with wisteria vines as that's what was handy. Thanks again 🙏🏻

Glad to hear it worked out, I had a feeling you'd be able to master it quite quickly!

The lighted ball near the end of video does not have any main axis vines, which gives it a much better appearance.

Yes, I like that density too! To get that look, just wrap more vines around your orb and it will camaflauge the axis, or make your starting rings with thinner vine branches than the ones you wrap it with.
