- In support of "NEDA" week (The National Eating Disorder Association Awareness Week), and my 5 year healing anniversary, I thought it would be a helpful time to share how I overcame a 7 year battle with anorexia, orthorexia and bulimia.
This is a very sensitive topic to many, including myself, as it took over my life for near a decade. I want to share this story to anyone who may be suffering, or caring for a loved one in the midst of their recovery journey. I am proud to be living proof that a complete and full recovery is possible.
I am eternally grateful for my healing, and even the journey it took to get me there.
This is my personal story. Everybody has a different body, and our paths to freedom and health vary greatly. If you are suffering, please seek a medical professional. There are many recourses including the NEDA crisis text line: text NEDA to 741741.

I'm soooo proud of you Elle you're gorgeous, and absolutely amazing in every way, you're talented, kind and very very strong!! I suffered with three eds from when I was 12 to 15 yrs old, my ed started as Orthorexia as well then it turned into anoreixa then bulimia , I received treatment when I was 15 and I'm 26 now I'm really healthy and happy. I'm immensely grateful to God, my family and all of my friends for helping me get through that obstacle in life🙏🏻💖

Thank you for spreading awareness on this topic 💜 now I may have never had bulimia but I struggle with eating too much. I eat all the time, and that has led to me gaining so much weight so fast that my parents are concerned about my health. Try your best to trust your body, and it’s amazing capabilities to know when you’re hungry. All of us are different, but for me I eat all day long now 🥹💛

Edit: I lost weight!! And I know I lost weight because abs are beginning to show and my leggings aren’t as tight. I’m so proud of myself, I’ll keep going 💪🦁🌸
This is beautiful Elle, I'm so happy to see a healthy you talking about a really dark time in your life to give us hope and some words of comfort. To see you proudly victorious in such a long and exhaustive battle is heartwarming, and you've done wonderfully well showing how your family reacted and assisted you in this long process of recovery, often victims of these disorders feel conflicted to tell their loved ones when in fact that this is a fight not to be taken alone.
I am going to share this video in hopes to inspire anyone who is going through similar rough times to reach out for help from family and friends, or maybe even kind internet strangers. Please be well, I wish for my favourite actress to stay healthy and positively cheerful for years to come. Also sending some love to Josh and Marshie for being absolute POG by your side

Talking about one’s struggles is not easy specially publicly..You’ve talked about this topic with me before and I never felt more understood and thank you for letting me and others know that we are not alone. Also I wanna recognize that you were such a big help for me during quarantine always listening to me and giving me such awesome advice and such wise words. Even though the purpose of our zooms were singing lessons we always ended up with some deep talk lol but I will cherish those moments forever cause being empathetic and compassionate makes a great teacher . Its been about 2 years since I stopped hardly eating. It was not an eating disorder yet at that time, but it was getting very close. I was very self aware and I knew what I was doing, but my brain said "It was for the best." I stopped because my mother sat me down and talked with me about it. Luckily I stopped before I made it a secure habit (even though I had already lost around 10 pounds), and I'm still recovering to this day. The hard part about it for me is gaining the weight, which is worse because I'm a minor (nearly 16 now) and I was already underweight to begin with. Seeing videos like this talking about these issues (especially you, where Heathers and musicals in general helped me get through the anxiety) give me hope that I can fully recover from this. I've just made it to about 99-100 lbs, and I'm trying my best to eat/gain more each day. My goal is to have 120 lbs by the end of this year. Thank you so much for this video, it really helps ❤

every time i think of heathers and saw you in heathers i did wonder if you had an ED at that time. heather mcnamara is my dream role and its really lovely to see you feeling much better and healing and talking about your ED now. im going to audition for a community theatre production of it next month and seeing now that you are better too makes me feel like it is the perfect time for me to try for that role. that was the only thing that lingered when i thought about that show and character was wondering if you were OK. my ED brain thought some things before and
seeing you healing is healing in itself.

I have a Heathers related question which you don't have to answer if you don't feel comfortable with. Whilst doing the show or maybe now with more clarity and hindsight did you ever empathise with Heather Duke who despite being one of the antagonists was also suffering with an eating disorder
I had a feeling someone else may make this observation 😘🥹I always empathized and loved her so much. Maybe because I knew why she lashed out..instead of getting swallowed up by her pain. but their struggles were so similar. it made it easy to forgive her in the end. I like to think they went to therapy together after and transformed their trauma bonding into a healthy and authentic connection 🫂💚💛
