  • Welcome to the Concealed Coalition! In this video, Director of Training Austin Davis tackles a common question in the world of firearms: Which eye should you close when shooting a rifle or a handgun?
    🔫If you’re shooting a rifle:
    Right shoulder, right eye
    Left shoulder, left eye
    🔫If you’re shooting a handgun:
This is a bit more flexible. Your eyes are close together, so you can adjust your aim without closing one eye.
But what if you’re cross-eye dominant with a handgun? Austin also addresses this question.
When it comes to defensive shooting, the choice of using one or both eyes depends on your comfort and efficiency. If both eyes open works for you, go for it. If it hinders your speed or accuracy, consider closing one eye.
Just keep in mind that in a defensive scenario, your focus narrows down to essential priorities. As a result, you may need to close one eye to make your shots, then open both eyes to assess the situation.
