- How to Crochet the Bean Stitch for Beginners
I will walk you through each step on how to create the Bean stitch. This video is perfect for absolute beginners.
This stitch provides a gorgeous thick texture, which is perfect for both kitchen and home decor items, blankets, hats and more!!
It is a one row repeat pattern, and ideal for beginners.
FREE written pattern below to help you learn this stitch.
Instructions for Beach Stitch:
Work any number of even chains.
Row 1:
Working in the back bump or 3rd loop, start in the 2nd chain from the hook (skip the 1st chain) and SC in 3rd loop to end of row, CH 1, turn your work.
Row 2:
1. SC in 1st chain
2. Skip a ST
3. Bean Stitch; insert hook, grab yarn and pull through (2 loops on hook)
4. YO insert hook, grab yarn and pull through, (4 loops on hook)
5. YO insert hook, grab yarn and pull through (6 loops on hook)
6. YO and pull through all 6 loops
7. Chain 1 to complete stitch
Repeat steps 2 - 7 to end of row.
SK ST, SC in last ST
CH 1, Turn Work
Row 3:
1. SC in first ST
2. Create Bean ST in first open space (right after Bean ST from previous row)
3. Continue Bean ST in open spaces to end of row
4. SC in last ST
CH 1, Turn work
Row 4 - Desired length:
Continue steps in Row 3 to desired length of project.
Final row of your project:
SC in ea ST to end of row for a smooth finish.
