Keep feeding yourself with what brings you joy my friend. We'll be here. And yeah man The Metal Roundup is a wonderful thing, always a pleasure, and a great place to vent haha.
I know it may sound inpolite, but since you lost your yt monetization (which i wish you'll get back), your videos became more genuine and free. I really see enthusiastic Drew sharing his opinion on music he's interested in, when he wants to. Now i feel that Drew is the owner of the channel, not the algorithms. It is really awesome.
I've been feeling the lull in the metal releases a lot lately. It's harder and harder to motivate myself to sit down and film reactions, but I'm not ready to give up just yet. I just need to find the right way to evolve my content. I'd also love to chat with you guys on the Metal Round-up sometime!
At the end of the day you've got to do what feels the best for you & your own mental health - people/subscribers will stick around because of what YOU bring to the table. I have enjoyed watching The Metal Roundup, it's a fun podcast with really great talking points. 😊💜
Drew I'd just like to add that as a viewer, I also have pretty specific tastes in the metal scene and don't care for like 80% of it. Which means that 80% of the shit you react to I don't care for. But that being said, even though I don't like the song you are reacting to, I still enjoy the video because I enjoy you as a person/entertainer and your insights. So what I'm getting at is that it doesn't matter whatever avenues your content takes you, whether be more gaming or reacting to other genres of music or video content. Myself and I'm sure a great majority of your subs are here for YOU, not just strictly metal reactions. TLDR: Do you bro, we gonna watch whatever you put out. Cheers bro 🍻
As long as you’re doing videos or streams you enjoy, I’ll support. Timezone screws that up, but I try my best to give you support. I’ve enjoyed your genuine reactions and thoughts, so do what you believe in and enjoy mate
I've noticed a shift in the community even in the past year that I've started making videos. I think gaming like you've been doing works well as content when the music well seems to be drying up. I've started a blind first playthrough of Skyrim for the first time which has been attracting people who don't even know my main content is metal related, and it's fun to see what I can do with some different kinds of videos
glad that you've found a way to keep streaming interesting for you. haven't been able to watch your stream in a while, but hope the elden ring grind is going well wishing you the best for the future man
It is really hard to put out content that you and the viewers are enjoying too. It is because one: You can't be good enough for everyone; two: trends always have highs and lows. People nowadays not usually anchor themselves to one kind of content, so if you try that "one shot pony" thing, it will wear off eventually. Keep your mental health in great shape, so you can be 100% when you really want to do that content :) People have to re-learn patience and understanding. :) Have fun, it is the most important thing.
Heyyyy definitly noticed you were posting less and I was wondering if something was up. I also started to feel this metalcore/prog fatigue in the last year which led me to branching out to other subgenres and I started to get more and more into like melodeath which in turn slowly led me to liking death metal which I never would have thought was possible. I really think there are some bands and songs in that space which you could enjoy, especially some really melodic stuff in melodeath or tech death, and it could help with the lack of excitement from metalcore, although that's probably not what most of your audience is here for. Either way you should definitely check out the last Windwaker album I feel like that's a really fun pop/edm/metalcore track. On the gaming side of things I think posting some live best-ofs, maybe on another chanel, would be really cool because I'm usually not available for livestreams but I'm still really interested in watching you play, but I get that's a lot of work to put in. Much love from France 🇫🇷
I think it's great that people are getting exposed to new bands and genres. I definitely see that some things make the rounds on the reaction channels, and hopefully that isn't because people are being lazy and simply checking out what everyone else is, or only responding to fan polls and such. More discussion and opinions is always a good thing. I can sympathize, I "like metal", but when I dig into the many bands and subgenres, I find that I only really like about 10% of it. You're not the only one.
i think there have been some stellar releases lately in the non-metalcore non-prog non-japan scenes, i think part of the staleness is that the reaction environment (in general, not thinking of anyone in particular) focuses a bit too much on very specific subgenres, if not bands (i get they are cash cows, but unless you focus on buckethead or king gizz you'll eventually run out of songs, someday). I might be totally wrong but i honestly feel this way, i don't mean to be rude or excessively critical, i just believe a bit more variety could help out overcome the staleness of the environment!
2024 has been an amazing year. But more in the prog/death/black/avant-garde metal scene. It sucks that most viewers only like a very specific type of metal, I would love for you to keep branching out and trying new stuff but I know most people don't have my wide taste in metal subgenres. But to say 2023 was better than 2024 is absurd
Hey Drew, I've been following you since pre-covid times. Strangely, you *never* come up in my notifications (so what's the point of clicking on the bell!?) and only occasionally appear in my home feed. Part of the problem here is that YT's algorithm is bollocks. I think that I'd like to see some negative reviews alongside your enthustiastic reactions. However, I think you have to be kind to the band, music is hugely subjective as we all know, so if something doesn't suit your taste and you post a reaction to it, try to point those people who might like what you don't to the artist, thus providing exposure without being a diss-meister. This is all about understanding and cross-referencing and curating the scene. You can still be positive with content you personally don't enjoy. Think authenticity and be true to yourself. Secondly, whilst I watch a lot of metal scene reactors, I also watch *more* non-metal reactors, because their reactions are great, even though I'm not necessarily a fan of the music they are choosing to profile on their channel. This has led me to encounter artists that I now love who have nothing to do with the metal scene. Maybe diversify into other corners of your music tastes? Just my tuppence worth...
Mate, just admit you got bored and your specific tastes can't facilitate an entire channel anymore.. don't blame it on "the lack of things going on in the Metal community" or "competition". The community you belong to is Social Media, it's really got nothing to do with music because YOU are the product. This perceived burnout that content creators constantly whinge about is them just admitting to us their heart isn't in it anymore because the money is elsewhere, so they piss in your pocket and give you the same old excuses you heard from the last 10 people that quit their channel. But hey, accountability with these folks usually only comes in the form of a scripted 20 minute video, with a cute little clickbait thumbnail and captions. Good to see RUclips finally weeding out the posers 👏🏼
Glad you got that off your chest bro❤️ If there’s anything else you’d like to project on my channel then please be sure to do so, the metal community and I are here for you 🧡
@@DrewFortune97 Have fun over on Twitch, bro. The community will be fine without you, even with the lack of quality action you crave as a seasoned Metal enthusiast of 5 years 😂 Relax bro. Just be honest.
Keep feeding yourself with what brings you joy my friend. We'll be here. And yeah man The Metal Roundup is a wonderful thing, always a pleasure, and a great place to vent haha.

Completly agree brotha, I’ve was actually going to make a point about this as well that it’s definitely changed the way I upload!

Is nobody going to say anything about that contraction? "Am'nt!?" hahaha I didn't know you could do that.

I think Nik really hit the nail on the head. It goes for most things, you have to change it up somewhat or eventually burning out is inevitable.
Absolutely!

You’re dead right, variety is everything! I’ll do my best to incorporate more - however a lot of it is sounding stale to me atm!
