This video is perfect for practicing speaking and listening. The recommended method is, (1) practice saying the verb ten times keeping in mind the correct tone (2) learn the example sentences that she gives in chunks; usually, you will find that the sentence has 3 chunks; notice where she pauses in the sentence and copy that while speaking the chunks out loud; learning in chunks is by far the most effective and efficient way to learn (3) get the pinyin of the sentence in your mind and repeat it at least 10 times while looking away if you can; if you can't, do it while looking at the pinyin until you can do without looking at the pinyin; this is going to take much longer than the 23-minute video, but you will find that the next time you watch the video, it will go much faster; if this seems to take too much time, then, study 10 words a day. In ten days, you'll have them all. (4) review often. Dr. Stephen Krashen, the most recognized language expert in America, always talks about 'comprehensible input.' As you practice (and as you speak the chunks out loud) at least vaguely recognize the meaning of the word. This makes it 'comprehensible'. Believe it or not, but it is more important to get the sound of the word in your memory than the meaning. The meaning (definition) will come later as you learn these words in the context that Yimin has given. Pay close attention to the tones. The biggest mistake that non-Chinese speakers make in learning Chinese is that they don't pay attention to the tones. Make sure you get the tones correct. You want native Chinese speakers to comment about your speaking and say, "Your tones are clear and your pronunciation is perfect." You CAN do this and you will if you use this method with this awesome video. I teach Chinese students to get super high scores on the English assessment exams such as IELTS, TOEFL and SAT. My average Chinese student will get 110 on TOEFL (out of 120), band 8 on IELTS and 730 on the English part of the SAT (out of a possible 800). I consistently put native Chinese-speaking students in Harvard, Princeton, Cambridge, University of Chicago, USC, Johns Hopkins...... (No brag. Just fact.) This is exactly how I teach them. I've had students from poor families and students from rich families. This method works for all of them and it will work for you too. Happy studying and a big huge thanks to the beautiful, Yimin!! She's not only gorgeous, but she is an excellent teacher as well.

Finally someone who can explain the difference between 想 and 想要, had no idea it was due to verb/noun, 谢谢您。At 19:12 looks like the Pinyin may have the wrong tone in 一只猫: if I remember right, it's normally 3rd tone but becomes 1st tone when used as a measure word for animals. Edit: I see your pronunciation is in 1st tone 🙂 does Pinyin written tone not need to adjust? Excellent video!
This is one of the best videos that I've found regarding verbs in Mandarin. I've started taking notes including the sentences that you provide as an example. What I do is try to replicate your pronunciation by opening Google Translate and then reading the pinyin with the correct tones until it translates to the correct sentence. Thank you very much!
