Xie xie lao shi. This was very useful. We never used any of these phrases in class. Believe it or not, we had a lot of native Mandarin speakers in our class who have lived in the US a short time and were learning English through the Mandarin class. The other students were Cantonese speakers, 1 Korean, 1 Vietnamese, some American born Chinese, and only 3 native English speakers. Pretty interesting mix. I loved it because the native Mandarin speakers would correct my pronunciation and tell me other ways to say the same thing. I would try to help them with their English.

“是什么意思”，is "what does it mean", "有什么意思”， is "what 's fun about it " , eg, A ：“我们去爬山吧。” B “爬上有什么意思？” 💖🍭🤗

I used to ask it this way (with the wrong expression in the wrong place).
Now I'm pretty sure it should be: "用中文怎么说...?"
"在中文里" is a literal translation of "in Chinese", but I don't think it can be used in the above example.
Perhaps it can mean "in the Chinese language".
For example: "在中文里有很多成语" ("There are many idioms in the Chinese language")

Thank you for the great video - on the first sentence 我还是不太明白 the pinyin has 白 as bai2 but you clearly give it a 4th tone. Can you explain this?

hello Danny, I didn't give it a 4th tone.the original tone of 白bái is 2nd tone, but in spoken language, most of the time it becomes a neutral tone, so you just let it fall naturally, that's why you hear it like a 4th tone, but it's not, it's a neutral tone 😊😊😊.

Yimin, what's the meaning of yi xia 一下 in “Neng xie yi xia han zi ma?"
we use 一下 when we ask a favor , to make the favor sounds not so heavy , make it sound like a quick action 😊💙🍡

I use more 可以 since it is two syllable. But I guess 能 is maybe more appropriate. Thank you I learnt 例子。 I did not know this. Is 比如 and 例子 are interchangeable in the contect of your sentence?

你可以重说吗？Chinese people would understand you , but natives don't say in that way most of the time, except there is a specific context.
no, you can't say, 你可以给我一个比如（although very cute and funny haha）, “比如”or“比如说” is only a short section you put at the beginning of the sentence, it's not a noun, it doesn't mean "example". while “例子” is a noun, it means "example"
so "比如” and "例子“ are not exchangeable, they appear in different position in sentences .
