Whew! It's been a little while. I have a hard time sitting inside painting this time of year when the weather is so great! Been out enjoying the mountain air before winter sets in. Hope everyone is doing GREAT!
Doing great my friend!! I'm heading to a waterfall today to paint en plein air!! Will b my first.. I'm so glad it's cooler now!! Can't wait to watch this my friend, it's beautiful!!! 🙋🏽🎨🤗💙
I totally understand this. I had a hard time too. at least i got a bunch of reference fotos and while I was at London Iscetched a lot. Anyway I´m totally happy you did such an awsome Video. The landscape is so gorgous and I totally enjoyed it. As ever youre my insperation, chuck ! Thank you so much for sharing. Btw I totally agree with the words about composition. I mean the most of the people do have at least a feeling what work and what not- and in the end rules are made for breaking. So Composition are worth to do but in the end it in the eye of the artist..;)
@@Nikke283 there's a great book by Edgar Payne and Carlson. If one "understands" reads these you'll understand about the use of the rule of thirds or the golden rule. The composition will not be balance and many who know art will notice right off if the center of intrest ...the focal point is not on one of the thirds along with perspective. It just doesn't work. So I think that advice is not to be taken. It's not "rules," it's a guide for a balanced "makes sense," composition. Having a lead in and balanced perspective all is what makes a landscape work ...thus the work of the artist who creates it...that is also the fun part....coming up with a good composition. Also...just like everyone has their own unique brush marks...the artist also has their own paint mixing ability. Everyone in a group can paint the exact pic and everyone will be different, but it's that one that stands out from all the rest....the colors...how they see green etc.
I am a professional artist. I loved to paint. Unfortunately Multiple Sclerosis has taken my ability to paint from me. I love painting and have tried to give it another shot - with no luck. Press forward! I stumbled across your video and am very thankful!! I feel the joy of painting! Mixing colors bringing a white canvas to life all over again. Thank you for sharing your talents. Not just painting but teaching. I wanted to let you know that your video brought a joy my creative heart has been longing for. God bless you looking forward to more videos.
Heart of Chocolate- I totally empathize with you. I just got a degree in art, and was quite skilled in art. I was also working as a studio photographer on the side, when I was electrocuted by the power packs, which also blew out the lights AND prongs on it. I had problems, like extreme pain and I couldn't even have a conversation with people, because it seemed like they were talking a different language. Anyways, for Christmas, people used to ask me to do paintings for them for Christmas and I agreed, but as soon as I pulled out the canvas, I drew a blank and realized I forgot how to paint and draw. I gave up for years and as I watch Chuck Black videos (and others) I have been able to teach myself to paint again. I am forever indebted to Chuck Black and other artists who put these instructional videos up. This is the first time I have told my story on line. It was truly traumatizing. Thank you also Chuck for your videos and thank you Heart of Chocolate for having the courage to share your story!!
Those 20 people are jealous RUclips painters #haters 😂😂. Keep doing you bro you have the best paintings out there and the best techniques that you ACTUALLY SHARE with the world for FREE! Much love!
Wow! I watched, slowed you down, “rewound” you! Often I didn’t even watch you, but listened and did my own thing to follow you.... Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Learning so much! And just what I needed during the pandemic!
I’m from India, I painted this during lockdown, with very little actual experience in acrylic painting, but LOVED THE TUTORIAL and I’m really happy with the painting I’ve made. The tutorial is so well explained and so much fun to follow, thank you for this super long tutorial. I love your work!
I'm only about halfway in, but man, this is relaxing to watch. The way you've methodically laid in the tree textures almost puts me to sleep (in a good way).
I love that you concentrate on the palette as much as the painting. Learning colour is so important to me, I battle with it. Thanks for your fab videos
Nice! I think the most significant value to a longer video like this is that, as you're painting and talking, we get insight into your thought process as you're working on the painting. I like that a lot and learn the most from that. Thanks!
Thanks Rosemary, good to have the feedback. Saw your email come in as well! So glad you love the print!!! I'll get back to ya when I get a chance :) You are always welcome!
This is by far the.most informative tutorial I have watched. I have learned so much and just as importantly you have taught me to have patience when painting and not to get discouraged. Thank you
Ur tutorial makes me feel that I can also become someone great like u one day but I'm still a learner n feel down a lot of times when I don't get the outcome well. Chuck ur the guide to my art
Water reflections are so challenging ..thanks for the pointers on how to achieve this....Love how you incorperate your fingers for added effects..Great painting very real looking
I really liked this step-by-step video describing how to layer the color values, the texturing detail, brushes used, etc. You did a great job. I would enjoy seeing more like this. I am a realistic, detail artist and this lesson is really good for those new to painting. Beginners need to see the process of layering colors for depth and values. It is a slow process, but well worth the time spent for the finished painting. If artists expect to create beautiful paintings in 30 minutes it will look like a 30 minute painting. Keep up the good work Chuck!
Thanks so much for this full length acrylic painting demonstration. The painting came out beautifully. Can’t find this type of content anywhere else so I’m so grateful for your acrylic painting instruction/demonstration. I have bought both brushes that you recommended in previous videos. Love them too.
Love this long video!! Much easier to follow especially for us newer painters. Chuck I learned so much more technique in to normal speed. PLEASE DO MORE OF THESE!!
Thankyou for the painting video from start to finish , I would love to see more and you inspire me just watching you paint this beautiful peaceful place ! Thankyou
I just got a dagger brush thanks for the great lesson loved the posses. Learning to relax and just paint and in joy letting the brushes do there work. Thanks again, Steven.
Thank you so much! Except......I 'finished' a painting of an Alaskan lake with mountains in the background, THEN I watched this. Gonna have to take it back to the studio for some details I think. I really appreciated the video and the way you teach!
Thank you for explaining reflections and the colour of water. It makes sense to me now. Thank you for this beautiful painting and informative plus relaxing tutorial!
Wow! I'm so enchanted by your painting. I could watch you literally all day long! You make it look so easy, but we all know that it's very hard to do...at least for me. I wished you would show your face more cause you look like you could be a twin of my oldest son Danny. Your voice even sounds like my son... I guess you figured it out...yes, I am missing my son so much today. Your voice and face comforts me. You can just refer to me as MOM and I will refer to you as SON. Keep on Painting. You are a Professional! Ruby Jo Reaves from Texas
Thank you so much! This is the first video of yours I have come across. I will be back for more and hope that your are still adding content, since I see this is from 2 yrs ago. The lessons in this video will greatly help me with a Mission Mountain project I am currently working on! Thanks again!
This is a great tutorial. I really enjoyed that you went at real speed through the whole thing so that we could see how you put in all the minor details that you did put even though you said it was not very detailed. I love your style of painting and can't wait to watch more full length tutorials.
Thank you so much Chuck!!! When I first looked at it I thought it was a photograph, but immediately recognized it as one of yours. I’m so excited for the long version tutorial; so much to learn from it. As always I think you are phenomenal and so great full for what you do for us. Sunshine is on the mountain is one thing I struggle with that you captured so well and taught so well. Thank you again!!!
What a special treat this is!!!! Incredibly realistic and gorgeous finished painting😍😍😍 I am definitely going to paint along soon. Love hearing your thought process during painting. Thank you so much for this!!! 💝💝💝xxx
Talent overload!I always enjoy watching all your paintings.soooohhhh realistic.Very detailed and oh so good.Brilliant i should say.Keep on painting Chuck...u are a very good teacher.Love you teacher....m always watching
As a novice/beginner in painting your information is invaluable. I inspire to try one of your paintings. Thank you about the information on brushes you use. This is the hardest for me, well beside everything else. So glad I found your channel.
And I thought I was going to be doing mundane housework all day :) It's been so nice to escape to these beautiful mountains today - thanks for the tour! Love watching you paint and I always learn something new. Hope you know how much your tutorials and time are appreciated. Beautiful work Chuck!
Hi Chuck Thank you for taking the time to create this awesome video it was amazing watching you paint this picture from start to finish. I would like to see you do more of these demonstrations if you don’t mind doing them.
Really enjoyed this, Chuck!!! Thank You!! You know I really like the full-length tutorials. I had to smile, when I saw the Carbon Black back on your palette, too. I think you do wonders with the black, as I've told you several times. These full-length tutorials actually give more insight than you may realise - some of the comments you make, as you're working, let us know how you think and feel about the influences that inspire you, and the thoughts, as you work, that go into the painting you're working on, as it develops. The split screen is a really great thing, too. It's a constant reference to the colours, and how they look when applied to the canvas. Oh yeah... ;-) the painting is BEAUTIFUL!!! Keep moire coming, after enjoying the great weather. Looking forward to more vlog vids, too. Great work, and Thanks Again!!!
Love to watch you paint! I've learned so much from you..I've just started painting after 28 years.. had some art college....kids are out of my house.time for me... I've sold 1 painting and a print.. I enjoyed the videos of your struggles..I have those all the time...
Really enjoyed the time you took to try to explain your process... I'm in the beginning stages of values and depth in my acrylic paintings and am getting frustrated at times... but pushing through it....main thing is I'm forgetting to enjoy myself 😊
This is a beautiful painting with a great tutorial, I really like the color sequence, as it all falls into place and you were using a limited palette. Great stuff Chuck. Thank You.
I love this video. I love watching a painting come to life and to see how you make it. To me the painting looks like a photograph, and I really like that. Keep up the great work 😃.
Great work n thanks fer the lengthier version. Your process helps me a lot. I get so caught up in making toooo many details too soon. Also get u a small #01,02 or so angle brush. Use it point up with the base perpendicular to the canvas, like you did with big trees and it'll make those smaller trees just as easy as big ones. At least that's how I do it. Cheers
Stunning..its just so beautiful Chuck..l really enjoy theses longer videos and l'm becomming quite good at painting mountains now...thank you very much
