Thank you for this video. I have also just bought these reusable pods and am having the same issues. I love coffee, I love Trieste, and I love Illy (except for their polluting pods). I had hoped to load up a day’s supply of these pods for the family and keep them in an Illy tin, but until I can sort out the leaks, and the coffee strength, that will be waste of time. I will continue to experiment and also try out the stainless steel screw pods.
Thank you for the video ❣️ I bought the stainless steel capsule and after a fewer coffee I managed to get the correct espresso into the machine for the Illy Iperespresso and so far so good 👍🏼 so that means less environmental problems 😉
@@blrholt5162 HI 👋 sorry for the delay ¡! But yes fill the stainless steel portafilter Canister to just to top and push it down to the treads line and you will good to go. Remember it will be hot 🔥 when you're getting out from the discharge bucket drawers. For espresso i did finre setting or just get the the Illy Can and it's ready to use 😀 Good luck and have a great holiday weekend 👍🏼
It leaks because you're packing too hard. Water doesn't flow because you're basically making the ground coffee a solid. And your cup feels watered because your cup is too big. This is an espresso machine, it's for small cups. If you want larger cups, you need to use 2 capsules. Be careful with diy capsules btw, i blew a valve on my machine with one i made
You should try the illy blend, it is made like that to ensure good coffee. Also you should always try short shots, as Illy intended for the italian espresso. If you brew too long, it will taste bad no matter what. If you use any illy single origin coffee, you should also try the right dose, like that it will problably not leak and the result will be satisfatory
I have an Ely and I bought one with a reusable stainless steel filter it probably doesn’t work exactly like the plastic pods but I am not using plastic at all which makes me feel good and worth not having the hundred percent flavor than I normally have
How fine the coffee was ground and how much you put the ground coffee. That is the matter. So cut the bottom of the portafilter so as to bigger reusable basket and get the beans ground smaller.
I bought the stainless steel capsule in order to use less plasti and after a few trials changing the portion and the coffee beans I managed to get the perfect esspresso..tasty foamy and great qiality. I am using dark roast beans that I grind before making the coffee.
I don’t understand your note in the video about the metallic reusable capsule when you write, “which screws up”. Does this mean that the top of the reusable capsule screws on to make a better seal so it doesn’t leak? Or do you mean it “screws up” and doesn’t work at all?
İ have the same machine now. And trying the metal capsules but it is also a failure i couldnt get the desired result yet ;( maybe they should make the screw design of metal to plastic ones
Hi! Reusable capsules can get tricky and the result is not always good at all. Good luck with the reusable capsules and learning how to manage them successfully :)
Great video! I share the same concern abt the plastics affecting the environment and thought abt buying the reusable stainless capsule. It seems some other videos I've watched had a better results so I thinking abt trying it to find out myself.
Thank you so much for sharing, I have been looking for Illy iperespresso machines, I appreciate you have tried several ways to make re-usable cups doable and your honest opinion about it. I'll stick to my lean mean bean machine for now.
Wow! I am impressed how you try hard to reuse the capsules. I don't think the taste is the same the original from the machine because of the containing system's difference. Good video, though. :)
So you buy piece of plastic to fill with coffee to wash it up afterwards, think about leakages and so on instead of just using normal coffee machine and spend 3x less time per 1 cup
Lovely video...and fun as well! I can't think of anything you didn't touch on when it came to the DIY part. And esp the subtle hint of buying over the irritating end of things. My understanding is that Illy has a specific tamp (and likely filter size to grind size) ratio to get the most out of the 1st use. Enough to make you willing to buy a really great shot you likely can't duplicate. But I'm Scottish cheap so will exhaust myself thoroughly before I accept raping the planet and my wallet for the most fabulous expresso shot on earth. Thank you, dear. 💕

Hi, can you please share the link where you bought it?
Hey!
I am waiting for mine to arrive, too! How much did you put in it, and how finely ground coffee?

what did you do with your valve? I think something happened to my x1, now is leaking with original iperespresso capsules
Great video - I appreciated your honesty about how the reusable capsule worked while also expressing your goal for the environment.
Pro tip : watch movies at flixzone. Been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Anders Lian definitely, been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself =)
@Anders Lian yup, have been using Flixzone} for months myself :)

To be honest, I no longer use Illy, original capsules or these reusable capsules and switched to Sage Barista Pro :)

What brand
I tried the plastic capsule but that doesnt work. Why is a stainless steel capsule better?
Laura Lora icalifas and Capsuleon (AliExpress)

At the moment I am dissapointed in both, original and reusable capsules and thinking of changing my coffee machine. 🙂
@@_pandavision really ;( i just got the machine ;(
Please, do a review of the metallic. We got this cause my girl likes latte in the morning, but, I've not being successful with this morning task.

I wonder where you found the screw on metal cups? Love Illy, hate the fact I use single-use plastic.
There are different brands and models of stainless steel reusable capsules on Amazon.
So good!
You will not win this war it seems. Great video. Very good made. It seams you a in a catch here. Perhaps there are capsules made out of stainless.
Why is it virtually every video/tv programme, has to be drowned out by bloody music that is way to loud
Really good video, do you make for others? Rob
Thank you so much! Yes, I mainly make videos for others.
@@_pandavision perfect, lets talk?
