People are asking the wrong question in terms of spending ability. Three year ago we spent a fortune, that third year has dropped of the PSR. So we have to have money to spend it’s mathematically impossible to not have PSR room.
Unlike FFP, PSR considers all outgoings & incomings including the wages of almost all staff, certainly the players, manager, coaches etc. The players bought during the 3 years since the takeover are on high wages and those players we haven't been able to move on are still on the wage bill. We may have the money to buy a couple of players but that will increase the wage bill yet again - we need to get as many unwanted players off the books as possible if we want to stay within PSR limits.
The cup run should have no baring on what the transfer window brings . Right wing, central defender and striker that isn't injured when he they get a strong breeze that blows them over . A number 6 would be good aswell. Will any of this happen, No !!! The premier league has ruined any chance of progression, to protect the septic 6 ......
4:56 before "the evil teams" in the Premier League changed the rules on us in particular, and Man City highly dislikes 👎 the rule, too! We need some of those DC lobbyists to sort this out 🎉😉
I don’t believe we are as bad financially as you make out. PSR works in cycles that will give you freedom and other clubs with a lot less revenue are spending big.
Craig does Botman look a lot skinnier? I don’t know if I have a distorted memory or it’s just the photos but I recall him being really strong but he looks very skinny in the photos. Am I just wrong?
Was the £60 million that was seemingly available for Guehi, definitely on the proviso that money would be recouped in Jan/June? Do we have an idea of the actual PSR standing or are we basing it on Howe's comments about trading players? It would be good to know, in case money was miraculously found and spent in Jan, if that meant a sign of Bruno or Isak leaving in the summer.
Is it just me who thinks the club will bring in one or two players without needing to sell? I think they'll be trying to avoid another Crystal Palace scenario. Dont get me wrong i doubt they'll go overboard, but i think people are being naive if they think they've got no money at all to spend.
So I have a question. Psr is a rolling 3 year monitoring of the accounts to ensure losses no greater than 105m over a 3 year period. We recorded a loss of 72.3m in 21/22. We recorded a loss of 73.4m in 22/23. Presumably we made a profit of atleast 40m in 23/24 as we're confident we didn't breach and that's why we sold minteh and elliott. As PSR is a rolling 3 years of accounts. 21/22 should fall from the calculations now that we're in 24/25. So surely other than amortised transfer fees that are still being paid yearly we should be extremely healthy. It should look like this 22/23 - 73.4m loss 23/24 - (atleast 40m profit) 24/25 - ? We should be able to have losses of atleast 70m+ for 24/25 and 70m+ losses for next financial year (25/26) when the 70m loss for the financial year 22/23 falls off the rolling 3 year accounts Why am I being told there is no money to spend? THERE HAS TO BE MONEY AVAILABLE and a decent amount of it too.
@jasonpettitt7322 But did you read my comment. Any players bought are amortised over the length of the deal (5 years generally) so even a 50m signing on 150k per week (marquee) is costing the club 17.5m per year for 5 years and then that falls to 7.5m per year after that assuming he stays on 150k per week. In regards to contract renewals, that should be even less impact. If gordon increased from 80k to 150k it would cost the club an additional 3.5m per year. Up from 4m to 7.5m per year. The bottom line is, you have to spend quite a bit to record 70m losses in a financial year. Especially now that our revenue is said to be in the 300m ballpark. Btw I want us to move on Dubravka, targett, trippier, longstaff, almiron, wilson and maybe even the likes of burn, willock and barnes if the right bid comes in.. its healthy for progression
so have we found out why pif let us get into such a situation where we cannot spend anything? either through sponsors or mis management of accounts, questions need to be asked. training shirt sponsor? stadium sponsor? are these being explored. can we really be number 1 with shoala ameobi in our loans department and a 'not fit for purpose' scouting department? curious if you know any of these craig. cheers for the videos. the off pitch things seem to be slower than the on field....and some off field doesnt have the limits player trading does.
If it was all about signing £40m+ players, you wudnt need Mitchell. The average fan could do that job. It's Mitchell's job to sign the next Mbeumo (£6m), Kerkez (£15m), Milenkovic (£15m). If he doesn't, then he should get the hell out of our club.
As a bit of an outsider the whole integrity of the premier league competition is under doubt when emerging teams are unable to compete for players. Plenty of commentators mention it including high profile pundits like Gary Neville but why isn’t it being addressed?
Craig , is it really fair to the fan base that the impact of PSR and APT should be accepted as a justification or excuse for the inconsistency of individual star players’ performances this season .Surely their huge salaries and the hero worship from the remarkable Newcastle fans should be motivation enough. I am frustrated that you are giving them a let off.
Not really what i want to be hearing from our manager about kerbing expectations and the like as that is what being a fan is all about dreaming of the the top and champions league qualification again
In terms of progress with the club, I think it depends on perspective. If you look at it purely from a Newcastle point of view, then going from a relegation battler to potential European place/cup team is obviously a positive. Maybe the fact that other more established top clubs seemingly have few restrictions, is frustrating. Maybe someone at the top of the club, not Howe, being honest about the club vision would help. I'm guessing the plan is to build a team like RB Leipzig with young players and sell on the best for a profit. Then later see if we can sustain a challenge yesr in, year out to the Sky big six. I think we just need to be realistic amd maybe have the fan spirit of the Keegan years, and enjoy the ride for what it is. It wasn't long after that we got more and more entitled and got on the backs of players and managers.
I have defended you in the past but what you have said this morning is a complete distortion of what Eddie Howe said in his press conference. Your question was asked in a way that you hoped to illicit that response and as a reporter I accept that’s your job But his answer was not that cups are more important than premier league. Not in any way did he say that in fact he said he would not encourage the thought process that you described internally but did agree that in the media the reality of the clubs situation.
Ok, thanks John. Maybe my wording was a little clumsy in the video as I was talking more to a later Q from a colleague (that referenced my Q) when Eddie said PSR etc had dramatically slowed the project and impacted on winning things (my Q being CL & PL). But trust me when I say there is an internal realisation of a domestic cup being a priority when it comes to what is realistic.

We need a TOP foreign keeper who can play with their feet but who is also strong mentally like an Alisson Becker. Very important this guys. We need an upgrade on Joelinton. We need a Maddison type player who doesn’t go missing at times.
There are plenty of deals the club can do to make psr not as bad. Training ground sponsor stadium sponsorship third kit sponsors silverstone and commercial department are being so poor.
I’m baffled by this too, warm up kit, training kit, training ground,- I know the deals have to be right but we’re getting nothing for these at the moment.
They're obviously not that incompetent. They must be waiting for rules to change/a bumper deal to be penned. There's no way they're just failing to get a sponsor. There'll be a lot we don't know
I don't agree with your point of players for joining just for the promise of a new stadium or even a training ground. Surely anyone must realise that a new training ground 3- 4 years and a new stadium 4-7 years away.
Well, if everyone refuses to leave, I just hope the rest of the squad realise that there will be no new players to " freshen " the squad...the staleness they will have to deal with...
Surely keeping our elite players that are working out wel is more important than selling them so we can spend… on elite players that may work out well.
Suspect Brentford will park the bus and play on the break - we will need to be careful. Time will tell if we've turned a corner or not and whether certain players' attitudes have improved.
The potential to win the Carabao cup is being rather over-egged. Sure it is good to think positively but Newcastle haven’t won a domestic trophy for 70 years and Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham remain in the draw. Three of those four are likely to progress (Man U play Tottenham in one of the quarters). This means Newcastle may have to beat elite teams in a two legged semi and a Wembley final where we have never turned up in any match for the last 30 years. Not being negative, just relation. The boys are going to have to massively turn a corner and turn back time to the 22/23 season to have a fighting chance of winning this cup.
Why PSR will end: 1) Man City's form has dipped because the players have been told to expect a GIGANTIC points deduction in the new year, making not only winning the league but European qualification impossible, so they are looking around for alternative clubs. Pep's contract extension was designed to steady the ship, it didn't work. 2) If Chelsea win the league they'll have to take it off them for PSR breaches, destroying the integrity of the competition already hugely damaged by points deductions and the need to sell homegrown players to exist in the ridiculous system dreamed up because Portsmouth were badly run 15 years ago. NUFC fans just need to sit tight for the next 12 months while it all plays out and the pressure overcomes the massive ego of Richard Masters, which is all that stands in the way of PSR collapse.
Why do Newcastle not believe in loans or the Saudi market. Time to start being more clever regarding psr. Take advantage of the Saudi market or the loan market. 🤦
Your papers treatment of Bellingham during the last Euros was nothing short of a disgrace. You and your colleagues published a lot of anonymous sources non stories because he gave you w⚓⚓⚓ the cold shoulder during the tourney.
The dream is well and truly dead Craig, that's why there is a sense of despair hanging over the club. We will never close the gap on the big six, the only chance we will ever have is if we bugger off and join a super league.
@ There have been plenty of good results but we keep pairing them with dire performances. Beating Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Forest, drawing with City, Liverpool. Then disasters against Fulham, West Ham, etc. A real Jekyll and Hyde season.
@@Robert.Sheard Well think you answered my question in regards to why i don't think Europe is attainable this season the first sixteen games which is generally a good gauge of where you are you can count on 1 hand where we have played acceptable good football hence why we are 12th
I think Howe will get sacked if he loses tomorrow night. I've thought for a while that it is the fact we're still in the Carabao Cup that is keeping Howe his job. Lose that, and we are left with starting again in the FA Cup and a VERY underwhelming, mediocre season in the league. The Saudi's won't stand for that. They have given Howe time, but the mediocre results won't be tolerated anymore past a loss tomorrow night I don't think.
As sad as it would be, I think if Man City came in with a bid of £70-80m for Bruno in Jan then we should accept it. It would really unlock us from a PSR perspective and allow us to progress. With Tonali we already have his replacement.
Mark Guehi what a joke. If we were to spend more than 30 million on that guy I’d be extremely pissed. there’s no chance in hell for anyone outside the top 4 to compete with all the restrictions . We’ve got all the money in the world and we can’t even spend 100 million without selling half the squad

Whitley Park. I think that's the place you had your hat trick. 💪😀
4:56 before "the evil teams" in the Premier League changed the rules on us in particular, and Man City highly dislikes 👎 the rule, too! We need some of those DC lobbyists to sort this out 🎉😉
Any idea why we haven’t got training ground sponsors yet?
I don’t believe we are as bad financially as you make out. PSR works in cycles that will give you freedom and other clubs with a lot less revenue are spending big.
Craig does Botman look a lot skinnier? I don’t know if I have a distorted memory or it’s just the photos but I recall him being really strong but he looks very skinny in the photos. Am I just wrong?
If batman had an ECL injury, did he get the tendon graft it would have healed way faster, and it's stronger.
Craig do you think Eddie will make changes tomorrow night?
Maybe 1/2 at most.
Is it just me who thinks the club will bring in one or two players without needing to sell? I think they'll be trying to avoid another Crystal Palace scenario. Dont get me wrong i doubt they'll go overboard, but i think people are being naive if they think they've got no money at all to spend.
Miley workign up also brings promise..Hopfully hes not Andersoned or Mintyeed.
Exactly! He won't be this year, but down the line, if the rules don't change, there's every chance, sadly.
I like every thing you say about Newcastle for tomorrow night Craig 👍
Jeez Craig we will never move on if we don't get rid because of this or that.
It should look like this
22/23 - 73.4m loss
23/24 - (atleast 40m profit)
24/25 - ?
We should be able to have losses of atleast 70m+ for 24/25 and 70m+ losses for next financial year (25/26) when the 70m loss for the financial year 22/23 falls off the rolling 3 year accounts
Why am I being told there is no money to spend? THERE HAS TO BE MONEY AVAILABLE and a decent amount of it too.
They did buy players and also.handed out new contracts too which affects things.
@jasonpettitt7322
But did you read my comment.
Hope your right about the draw of silverware and how it will put the brakes on outgoings, we don’t want Izak, Gordon, Bruno going anywhere.
Craig is silent on the PSR truth, his masters are bought and paid for by the premier league & the red cartel
2:00 we! The TOON never offered £60+ million. #EddieHowe said that we'll over a month ago, himself!
If they can’t sell players why not just take possible points deduction in the summer
Botman coming back and looking good is massive… dare I might say, it’s like a new signing..?! 😂
I wish I had your confidence, I’m not sold from 1 good win vs the poorest side to come to St James park. I can see a 1-1 and penalty shootout
Not really what i want to be hearing from our manager about kerbing expectations and the like as that is what being a fan is all about dreaming of the the top and champions league qualification again
Can you ask Eddie why he's so reluctant to play Osuna?
Just not ready yet.
Was Gordon there
Yes
@ good to see all the support. Really enjoyed our last few games. Long may it continue.
@@craighope_dailymail hi Craig I appreciate you taking the time to reply with someone who is disagreeing.
By the way I do not disagree with the article as far as the project slowing/stalling I just don't think you needed to try to use him to justify the article just because the usual suspects are screaming because it's not what they want to hear.
Hopefully we will be smiling tomorrow night but Ipswich at the weekend is just as big for me
@@JohnWilliamRobertson . Is usually removes and blocks your comment when you call him out
Craig....if supports to the PL to court a LAW COURT....we can get all FFP/PSR restrictions will be lifted, NOW Given your position get the ball rolling and promote this action on your channel....Talk to Keith Patterson / NUFC Matters/The Professionals
To be a taken seriously we will need to sign a RCB who is not only talented but has presence like a Tomori if you want English. 100% we need another striker who’s ready to make a big impact when required.
There'll be a lot we don't know
PSR has nothing to do with a new stadium and training ground.
I know. They just take time.
The GK situation in the last cup final turned out to be a total non issue. Karius wasn't why they lost.
4:04 why won't fans listen to what their own manager said 🤔
I just want a damn trophy, to hell with top 6!
I think he wants us to read the article
I don't agree with your point of players for joining just for the promise of a new stadium or even a training ground. Surely anyone must realise that a new training ground 3- 4 years and a new stadium 4-7 years away.
Well, if everyone refuses to leave, I just hope the rest of the squad realise that there will be no new players to " freshen " the squad...the staleness they will have to deal with...
Surely keeping our elite players that are working out wel is more important than selling them so we can spend… on elite players that may work out well.
Suspect Brentford will park the bus and play on the break - we will need to be careful.
Time will tell if we've turned a corner or not and whether certain players' attitudes have improved.
pleased Botman getting back to fitness but the way Dan Burn has played this season he might struggle to get a game
The boys are going to have to massively turn a corner and turn back time to the 22/23 season to have a fighting chance of winning this cup.
i very much doubt the likes of trippier, bruno, gordon, botman or isak joined in the promise of a new stadium
Why PSR will end:
1) Man City's form has dipped because the players have been told to expect a GIGANTIC points deduction in the new year, making not only winning the league but European qualification impossible, so they are looking around for alternative clubs.
Are you releasing trained magpies into the background or is this coffee stronger than i thought. I’ve seen a few in the background
😊
Extras.
Longstaff sent off in the Semis so banned for the Final - £40M to Saudi
Haha, very good.
Why do Newcastle not believe in loans or the Saudi market. Time to start being more clever regarding psr. Take advantage of the Saudi market or the loan market. 🤦
Stop making it a point of comments that cannot see your point of view. For me you are telling it as it is. Good or Bad.
Agree scoreline 2-0
Same same please
Well we know now it won’t be mudryk from Chelsea failed doping test
Your papers treatment of Bellingham during the last Euros was nothing short of a disgrace. You and your colleagues published a lot of anonymous sources non stories because he gave you w⚓⚓⚓ the cold shoulder during the tourney.
Selling longsraff is a must the player is terrible. He brings nothing id 100% sell him
Absolutely Ridiculous comment, get an education in football ⚽️
@Steph-wq9it haha another idiot who thinks he's good. You get to spec savers
Why don’t we sell barnes and reinvest the money on a right sided winger.
The dream is well and truly dead Craig, that's why there is a sense of despair hanging over the club. We will never close the gap on the big six, the only chance we will ever have is if we bugger off and join a super league.
Win a cup 😂😂😂
The league should always be the priority.
Just shows the ambition of the manager.
Sell dubravka, get karius back in until the end of season he’s still without a club 😂
4-0Toon Win
Im sure its pronounced Gay-He
Having said that , commentators and pundits have be pronouncing bruno fernandes wrong for years
I think psr will be of no importance come seasons end as with no Europe which looks likely we will lose a couple of purple players anyway
I’m not convinced of that likelihood. Yes, we’re 12th, but we’re just two points behind the top 6. A good run throws us right back in the mix.
@Robert.Sheard So what have you seen so far to suggest we can go on a good run as i haven't seen anything but hope it comes true
@ I’m not giving up hope quite yet. Still think 6th is the target, but I won’t be betting my house on it.
Please please please I’ll take Longsiff myself
I mean, to his next club
Botman looks knackered
As sad as it would be, I think if Man City came in with a bid of £70-80m for Bruno in Jan then we should accept it. It would really unlock us from a PSR perspective and allow us to progress. With Tonali we already have his replacement.
So if he’s going to play longstaff. Then willock or Miley need to be sold.
I hope Longstaff is going nowhere. He's a solid option to have and wouldn't break in big enough money. The club need local lads like Longstaff
I agree. But unless he feels the love of a new deal, I fear his form will be affected.
But whatever price he does bring is all profit.
Well, hello again, guyyyyysssss, so much to pick through that speaks to fhe article i wrote on saturdays about eddie having nothing to spend (which il take at face value cos i didnt do maths at gosforth school guyyyyyysss) oooooh lets play tonali number 6, and if not lets play sean longstaff, or miggyalmiron, in fact fuck it guyyyyyys lets play didier domi mid field and diego gavilan right mid. As long as sandro is number 6, everyone feels sorry for longstaff, and eddies not got money to soend my article is correct guyyyyyys. Wooohooo gosforth, hopes, fears eddie, amanda. Tears, tours dirty whooors, the project, the mongject. Just so happy guys that i bottled the brentford match report cos i was on hokiday guyyyys. Hiding under a mattress with steve bruce wey ye know… paul mitche eddie howe big question, sandro number 6. See tomorrow guys.
playing with acl. crazy. howe out! for the players’ sake
People are asking the wrong question in terms of spending ability. Three year ago we spent a fortune, that third year has dropped of the PSR. So we have to have money to spend it’s mathematically impossible to not have PSR room.
